자동차용 $CO_2$ 에어컨 시스템 열교환기 성능 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Studies on the Performance Characteristics of Heat Exchangers of $CO_2$ Air Conditioning System for Vehicle)

  • The performance characteristics of heat exchangers which consist of a gas cooler, an evaporator and an internal heat exchanger have been investigated at various operating conditions of $CO_2$ air conditioning system by experiments. The heat exchangers were designed for use in the vehicle $CO_2$ air conditioning system, when considering the characteristics of heat transfer and high pressure as $CO_2$ refrigerant. This paper studied the performance of heat exchangers at various compressor speeds and expansion valve openings, and quantified the heat transfer rates and pressure drops. Heat transfer rates at the gas cooler and the evaporator were 6.9 kW and 5.2 kW, respectively, when the compressor speed was 4000 rpm and refrigerant vapor quality at the evaporator outlet was 0.98. Therefore, this paper carried out that the heat exchangers were analyzed to achieve superior performance for the vehicle transcritical $CO_2$ cycle.

광폭 루버 핀이 장착된 핀-관 열교환기의 습표면 성능에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Airside Performance of Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers Having Wide Louver Fins Under Wet Conditions)

  • 전열량을 늘리는 손쉬운 방법은 전열면적을 크게 하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 세로와 가로 방향 튜브 핏치의 비(Pt/Pl)가 1.03인 광폭 루버 핀 시료의 습표면 j와 f 인자를 실험을 통하여 구하고 Pt/Pl=0.6인 일반 루버 핀 시료와 비교하였다. 동일 소비동력에서 광폭 루버 핀 시료의 전열성능이 일반 루버 핀 시료보다 1열에서 평균 16%, 2열에서 평균 29%, 3열에서 평균 38% 크게 나타났다. 이 증가량은 핀 면적의 증가량 (2.17배)에 비하면 현저히 작은데 이는 광폭 루버 핀 시료의 열전달계수와 핀 효율이 일반 루버 핀 시료의 값들보다 작기 때문이다. 핀 핏치가 j와 f 인자에 미치는 영향이 크지 않았다. 또한 튜브 열수가 증가할수록 j와 f 인자는 감소하였다. 실험 데이터를 기존 상관식과 비교하였다.

  • Numerical study is conducted to design the high temperature heat exchanger of Stirling engine by using the commercial CFD solver, FLUENT. The Fin-tube type of heat exchanger is designed as a reference model by considering the type of engine which is ${\beta}$-configuration. To find the optimal design of heat exchanger in heat transfer capacity numerical calculation is conducted by changing the shape, the number, and material of reference model in three-dimensional combustion field. Adjusted one-way constant velocity of working fluid that is helium is considered as the representative velocity of oscillating flow. The optimal design of heat exchanger considering the heat transfer capability is suggested by using the calculation results.

극세관 헬리컬 코일형 열교환기에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Helically Coiled Heat Exchanger of Small Diameter Tubes)

  • In order to develop the compact and flexible heat exchangers, we made the helically coiled heat exchangers. They can be manufactured with small diameter copper tubes without the need for fins; inner diameter=1.0 mm, straight tube length=1.5 m. The experiments were carried out with the following conditions; evaporation pressure=0.6 MPa, air velocity=0.7 ∼ 1.7 m/s, and working fluid=R-22. Pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient of heat exchangers were experimented according to the air velocity. The results of heat transfer coefficient show a 35% beneficial increase fur these heat exchangers over the other covered fin-tube heat exchangers. A cooling capacity of about 3 kW was obtained with an air velocity of 1.5 m/s. The distribution header has also been designed fur efficient distribution of refrigerant flow.

  • When metallic alloys are reacted to hydrogen, heat transfer of storage tank effects hydrogen storage rate and capacity. If pulsating heat pipe are used to improve heat transfer efficiency, production of hydrogen storage tank can be more simple and economical. Experiment of heat pipe was conducted by varying working fluids and heat flux. According to supply heat flux, test indicate that R-22 and R-l42b were found lower temperature difference between evaporator and condenser than R-134a and Ethanol. Thermal resistances of R-22 and R-142b were also lower than others. Using R-142b as a working fluid, heat pipe type hydrogen storage tank is tested in absorption and desorption processes.

  • Stirling engine for solar thermal power is an essential part of Dish-Stirling system which generates electricity by using direct normal irradiation and will go into commercialization in near future. For the Stirling engine used in this study is Solo 161 model the capacity of which is 10 kWe and was already used for the Dish-Stirling system of KIER in Jinhae. The receiver of Stirling engine absorbes concentrated solar radiation and transfer it to working fluid of Hydrogen. The working condition of striling engine is high temperature and high pressure to make high efficiency. Therefore the receiver should stand against high temperature of above 800 $^{\circ}C$ and high pressure of max. 150 bar with good performance of heat transfer. The receiver is composed of 78 Inconel tubes of 1/8" with thickness of 0.71 mm and two reserviors which is connected with two cylinders. In order to know the charaterristics of heat transfer of Stirling engine receiver, simulation on the heat transfer of the receiver of Solo 161 is conducted by using CFD code of Fluent. The heat flux on the receiver surface has a shape of Gaussian distribution so, it is necessary to simulate a whole receiver. However, It is difficult and time consuming to simulate the whole receiver that one tube with different heat flux conditions are considered in this study. From the simulation results, heat transfer charateristics of receiver are observed and tube wall and fluid temperature and heat transfer coefficient are obtained and compared with the calculated results from Dittus-Boelter's correlation.

Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in a Super high-Pressure Mercury Lamp using CFD

  • The discharge properties of super high-pressure mercury lamp are due to resistance heating for energy input, and results in temperature increase. The cooling equilibrium state is reached by the heat conduction, convection and radiation. In order to predict the fluid flow and heat transfer in and around the mercury lamp accurately, its visualization is of utmost importance. Such visualization is carried out by CFD program in this study. We focus on Anode shape to calculate four cases, namely AA, AB, AC and AD separately, and compare the temperature distribution and velocity vector in each case to predict cooling capacity and fluid flow properties. It can be concluded that the shape of anode plays an important role that affects the fluid flow and heat transfer in a mercury lamp.

이산화탄소용 핀-관 증발기의 성능해석 (Performance Analysis of Fin-tube Evaporator for Carbon Dioxide)

  • Fin-tube evaporator for carbon dioxide has been investigated both by experiment and simulation. Inside refrigerant heat transfer and outside heat and mass transfer of a wet surface heat exchanger were modeled using appropriate correlations. The results estimated by the calculation were in good agreement with the experimental results. The simulation errors were less than 7.9% for estimating capacity, 0.6$^{\circ}C$ for air exit temperature, 1.2% for air exit humidity and 17% for $CO_2$ exit pressure. The simulation program was used to study the effect of air flow direction, number of rows and refrigerant circuits. For a 2-row evaporator, parallel flow showed better performance for low air velocity but for high air velocity, counter-flow was better. Refrigerant circuits, however, showed insignificant effect on the performance.

This model allows consideration of the major losses such as heat conduction losses through regenerators and displacers, pumping losses and wall-to-gas heat transfer losses in working volumes, in addition to the heat exchanger and regenerator losses. The working volume was divided into 12 control volumes and conservation equations of mass and energy were applied to each control volume. Pressure drop was considered in regenerators only. Thermodynamic behavior of working fluid in a VM heat pump was investigated and effects of major losses on the performance of a VM heat pump were shown.

The working volume was divided into 12 control volumes and the conservation equations of mass and energy were applied to each control volume. Pressure drops were considered in regenerators only. Thermodynamic behavior of the working gas in a VM heat pump was investigated and effects of the major losses and operating conditions on the performance of a VM heat pump were shown.
