표면 조도와 곡률 반경에 대한 U-자관 압력 손실의 상관관계 (THE CORRELATION OF PRESSURE DROP FOR SURFACE ROUGHNESS AND CURVATURE RADIUS IN A U-TUBE)

  • In this research, we studied the pressure drop affecting on the internal surface roughness and the curvature radius of a U-tube, which is used for the cooling system in PWR(Pressurized Water Reactor). Using ANSYS-FLUENT, a commercial code based on CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) technique, we compared a Moody chart with the Darcy friction factor changed by a range of various surface roughness and Reynolds numbers of a straight pipe model. We studied the effect giving variation about a range of various surface roughness and the curvature radius of the full scale U-tube model. The material of the heat transfer tube is Inconel 690 used in the steam generator. We compared the velocity distribution of selected 4 locations, and derived the correlation between the surface roughness and the pressure drop for the U-tube of each representative curvature radius using the linear regression method.

  • This paper reviews the development status of magnetic refrigeration system for hydrogen liquefaction. There is no doubt that hydrogen is one of most important energy sources in the near future. In particular, liquid hydrogen can be utilized for infrastructure construction consisting of storage and transportation. Liquid hydrogen is in cryogenic temperatures and therefore high efficient liquefaction method must be studied. Magnetic refrigeration which uses the magneto-caloric effect has potential to realize not only the higher liquefaction efficiency > 50 %, but also to be environmentally friendly and cost effective. Our hydrogen magnetic refrigeration system consists of Carnot cycle for liquefaction stage and AMR (active magnetic regenerator) cycle for precooling stages. For the Carnot cycle, we develop the high efficient system > 80 % liquefaction efficiency by using the heat pipe. For the AMR cycle, we studied two kinds of displacer systems, which transferred the working fluid. We confirmed the AMR effect with the cooling temperature span of 12 K for 1.8 T of the magnetic field and 6 second of the cycle. By using the simulation, we estimate the total efficiency of the hydrogen liquefaction plant for 10 kg/day. A FOM of 0.47 is obtained in the magnetic refrigeration system operation temperature between 20 K and 77 K including LN2 work input.

  • IT기기, 통신시기, 반도체 기기 등은 점점 더 고성능화되면서 속도도 빨라지고 기능도 추가되는 추세이다. 이러한 IT기기들은 속도와 더불어 열문제는 더욱더 크게 강조되고 있는 실정이며 개인용으로 많이 사용하고 있는 PC의 경우 더 이상 속도를 높이지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 열문제는 100W까지는 Heat pipe 등으로 냉각이 가능하였으나 거의 한계수준에 도달한 상황이다. 이러한 상황에서 일부 메니아들은 빠른 속도의 통신이나 작업을 위해서 수냉식 전용 냉각기를 설치하여 현재의 기능보다 더 좋은 환경에서 사용하고자 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수냉식 냉각기보다 더 큰 열용량을 가진 CPU의 냉각을 위해서 냉매 압축기를 적용하고자 하였으며 냉매 압축기에 사용하기 위한 선형압축기를 개발하고자 하였다. 즉 선형압축기에 의해서 압축된 냉매를 사용하여 CPU를 냉각하기 위해서 본 연구를 시작하였다. 본 연구에서는 선형전동기를 공진구동형 스프링을 장착하여 50-100Hz로 공진구동하는 액추에이터를 제작하여 그 특성을 알아보았다. 먼저 제자과정과 제작후 추력과 공진구동 설계 및 공진구동시 전기적, 기계적 특성변화를 확인하였으며 피스톤과 실린더 및 흡입밸브와 배기밸브 등을 장착하여 선형압축기로서 시운전까지 수행하였다.

배관계통에서의 열성층 현상 모사를 위한 수치해석 (Numerical Analyses to Simulate Thermal Stratification Phenomenon in a Piping System)

  • In some portions of nuclear piping systems, stratification phenomena may occur due to the density difference between hot and cold stream. When the temperature difference is large, the stratified flow under diverse operating conditions can produce high thermal stress, which leads to unanticipated piping integrity issues. The objectives of this research are to examine controvertible numerical factors such as model size, grid resolution, turbulent parameters, governing equation, inflow direction and pipe wall. Parametric three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics analyses were carried out to quantify effects of these parameters on the accuracy of temperature profiles in a typical nuclear piping with complex geometries. Then, as a key finding, it was recommended to use optimized mesh of real piping with the conjugated heat transfer condition for accurate thermal stratification analyses.

  • Sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) of materials exposed to oilfield environment containing hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) has been recognized as a materials failure problem. Laboratory data and field experience have demonstrated that extremely low concentration of $H_2S$ may be sufficient to lead to SSC failure of susceptible materials. In some cases, $H_2S$ can act synergistically with chlorides to produce corrosion and cracking failures. SSC is a form of hydrogen embrittlement that occurs in high strength steels and in localized hard zones in weldment of susceptible materials. In the heat-affected zones adjacent to welds, there are often very narrow hard zones combined with regions of high residual stress that may become embrittled to such an extent by dissolved atomic hydrogen. On the base of understanding on sulfide stress cracking and its mechanism, SSC resistance for the several materials, those are ASTM A106 Gr B using in the oil industries, are evaluated.

초정밀 반도체 금형 제작을 위한 슈퍼드릴 방전가공기 전극가이드 개발과 미세홀 방전가공 (Development of Electrode Guide of Super-drill EDM and Electrical Discharge Machining of Small Hole for High Precision Semiconductor Die)

  • Electrical discharge machining is the method of using thermal energy by electrical discharge. Generally, if the material of workpiece has conductivity even though very hard materials and complicated shape which are difficult to cut such as quenching steel, cemented carbide, diamond and conductive ceramics, the EDM process is favorable one of possible machining processes. But, the process is necessarily required of finish cut and heat treatment because of slow cutting speed, no mirror surface, brittleness and crack due to the residual stress for manufactured goods. In this experimental thesis, the super EDM drilling was developed for high precision semiconductor die steel and for minimization of leadframe width. It was possible to development of EDM drilling machine for high precision semiconductor die with the electrode guide and its modelling and stress analysis. The development of electrode with the copper pipe type was conducted to drill the hole from the diameter of 0.1mm to 3.0mm with the error of from 0.02mm to 0.12mm. From the SEM and EDX analysis, the entrance of the EDM drill was found the resolidification of not only the component of tungsten but also the component of copper.

마그네슘 합금제 휠 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study of Manufacturing AZ91D Mg Alley Wheel)

  • 마그네슘은 20여년간 자동차 산업에서 휠소재로 사용되어 왔다. 마그네슘 휠은 무게가 알루미늄 휠보다 25% 가벼워서 주행성이 우수하다. 이 연구의 목적은 사형주조 및 영구금형주조 공정에 의한 AZ91D 합금제 췰을 개발하는 것이다 보호개스$(SF_6+CO_2)$를 사용하는 비플럭스 용해기술을 적용하여 용탕의 산화와 불순물의 유입을 배제하였다 마그네슘 용탕은 가압식 펌프시스템을 사용하여 가열된 파이프를 통하여 모울드에 자동으로 공급된다. 열처리 및 인고트의 조성에 따른 AZ91B 합금제 휠의 기계적 특성을 조사하였다.

  • This paper introduces the propulsion system for Korean High Speed Railway(HSR). The developed propulsion system consists of PWM AC/DC converter and inverter. Compared with TGV-K, converters can improve input harmonics characteristics by the interlaced PW switching methods. And several merits such as unity power factor and simple regenerative operations can be also made. As a main power component, IGCT stack with suitable structure for high speed train and environmentally friendly cooling heat pipe is designed. In this paper, overall configuration of controller and control scheme is briefly described. Finally running tests are made to verify the developed propulsion system. The presented test results shows fast torque response, balanced converter current sharing, and appropriate running sequence.

가야호 발전기용 SCR System의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of SCR System for Generator Engine on Training Ship KAYA)

  • NOx emission has been controlled because it is a major cause of the acid rain and effects considerably on formation and destruction of ozone. A SCR system on diesel engine is necessary to clear TierIII, because IMO(International Maritime Organization) plans on tightening regulations to TierIII at $1^{st}$ January 2016. In this study, flow analysis was accomplished with ANSYS Fluent program so that the SCR system would be retrofitted in training ship KAYA and the temperature distributions of exhaust gas in SCR sytem were investigated after it was installed. As a result, it was confirmed that pressure and velocity distributions in SCR system were depended on pipe line shapes, then it was designed as the pressure was lower. The temperature differential between 1 and 3 point was $15^{\circ}C$ because of evaporative latent heat of urea and the temperature of 4 point after catalyst was increased by $5^{\circ}C$ than 3 point because of exothermic reaction.

난류침투가 사각단면 T분기관 내 누설유동에 의해 발생한 열성층 현상에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Turbulence Penetration on the Thermal Stratification Phenomenon Caused by Leaking Flow in a T-Branch of Square Cross-Section)

  • In the nuclear power plant, emergency core coolant system (ECCS) is furnished at reactor coolant system (RCS) in order to cool down high temperature water in case of emergency. However, in this coolant system, thermal stratification phenomenon can occur due to coolant leaking in the check valve. The thermal stratification produces excessive thermal stresses at the pipe wall so as to yield thermal fatigue crack (TFC) accident. In the present study, effects of turbulence penetration on the thermal stratification into T-branches with square cross-section in the modeled ECCS are analysed numerically. $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ model is employed to calculate the Reynolds stresses in momentum equations. Results show that the length and strength of thermal stratification are primarily affected by the leak flow rate of coolant and the Reynolds number of the main flow in the duct. Turbulence penetration into the T-branch of ECCS shows two counteracting effects on the thermal stratification. Heat transport by turbulence penetration from the main duct to leaking flow region may enhance thermal stratification while the turbulent diffusion may weaken it.
