In this study, acombined cogeneration power plant produced two types of thermal energy and electric or mechanical power in a single process. The performance of each component of the gas turbine-combined cogeneration system was expressed as a function of the fuel consumption of the entire system, and the heat and electricity performance of each component. The entire system consisted of two gas turbines in the upper system, and two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), a steam turbine, and two district heat exchangers in the lower system. In the gas turbine combined cogeneration system, the performance test after 10,000 hours of operation time, which is subject to an ASME PTC 46 performance test, was carried out by the installation of various experimental facilities. The performance of the overall output and power plant efficiency was also analyzed. Based on the performance test data, the test results were compared to confirm the change in performance. This study performed thermodynamic system analysis of gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and steam turbines to obtain the theoretical results. A comparison was made between the theoretical and actual values of the total heat generation value of the entire system and the heat released to the atmosphere, as well as the theoretical and actual efficiencies of the electrical output and thermal output. The test results for the performance characteristics of the gas turbine combined cogeneration power plant were compared with the thermodynamic efficiency characteristics and an error of 0.3% was found.

An energy pile encases heat exchange pipes to exchange thermal energy with the surrounding ground formation by circulating working fluid through the pipes. An energy pile has many advantages in terms of economic feasibility and constructability over conventional Ground Heat Exchangers (GHEXs). In this paper, a coil-type PHC energy pile was constructed in a test bed and its thermal performance was experimentally and numerically evaluated to make a preliminary design. An in-situ thermal response test (TRT) was performed on the coil-type PHC energy pile and its results were compared with the solid cylinder source model presented by Man et al. (2010). In addition, a CFD numerical analysis using FLUNET was carried out to back-analyze the thermal conductivity of the ground formation from the Ttype PHC energy RT result. To study effects of a coil pitch of the coil-type heat exchange pipe, a thermal interference between the heat exchange pipes in PHC energy piles was parametrically studied by performing the CFD numerical analysis, then the effect of the coil pitch on thermal performance and efficiency of heat exchange were evaluated. Finally, an equivalent heat exchange efficiency factor for the coil-type PHC energy pile in comparison with a common multiple U-type PHC energy pile was obtained to facilitate a preliminary design method for the coil-type PHC energy pile by adopting the PILESIM2 program.
Heat exchanger tube array in a heat recovery steam generator is exposed to the hot exhaust gas flow and it could cause the flow induced vibration, which could damage the heat exchanger tube array. It is needed for the structural safe operation of the heat exchanger to establish the characteristics of flow induced vibration in the tube array. The researches for the flow induced vibration of typical heat exchangers have been conducted by using single cicular tube or circular tube array and the nondimensional PSD(Power Spectral Density) function with the Strouhal number, fD/U, had been derived by experimental method. From the present study, the basis for the application of flow induced vibration to the heat recovery steam generator tube array would be prepared. For the previous mentioned purpose, the present CFD analysis introduced a single fin tube and calculated with the unsteady laminar flow over the single fin tube. The characteristics of vortex shedding and lift and drag fluctuation over the fin tube was investigated. The derived nondimensional lift PSD was compared with the results of the previous experimental studies and the characteristics of lift and drag PSD over a single fin tube was established from the present CFD study.

Plate heat exchanger is being applied in the field of marine plants and chemical industry, such as OTEC and SWAC equipment. The study aims to interpret the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of plate heat exchangers to determine the geometric design parameters such as the channel space. In this study, heat transfer performance was numerically studied with respect to the variation of channel spaces. The results from numerical analysis indicated that the j factor was linearly decreased with the flowrate of seawater over every cases. As the flowrate of water increased with respect to channel spaces, the j factor decreased linearly. And the f factor decreased linearly with the increase of flowrate. When the channel space is 2.8~3.2 mm and 3.2~3.2 mm, respectively, the area goodness factor of plate heat exchanger showed the highest performance.

This study concerns the performance of boiling heat transfer in inclined thermosyphons with internal grooves. A study was carried out with the performance of the heat transfer of the inclined thermosyphon having 60 internal grooves in which boiling and condensation occur. A plain thermosyphon having the same inner and outer diameter as the grooved thermosyphon is also tested for comparison. Distilled water, methanol and ethanol have been used as the working fluid. The inclination angle, three working fluids, heat flux and the boiling heat transfer coefficient at the evaporator zone are estimated from the experimental results. The experimental results have been assessed and compared with existing correlations. Imura's and Kusuda's correlation for boiling showed in good agreement with experimental results within ${\pm}20%$ in plain thermosyphon. The high heat transfer coefficient was found between $25^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$ of inclination angle for water and between $20^{\circ}$ and $25^{\circ}$ for methanol and ethanol. The relatively high rates of heat transfer have been achieved in the thermosyphon with internal micro grooves.

Plate heat exchangers(PHE) have been commercialized since the 1920s. Since then, although the basic concept of PHEs has changed little, its design and construction have progressed significantly to accommodate higher temperatures, higher pressures, and large heat exchanging capacities. The development trend of PHEs is consistent with heat plate developments with better thermal efficiency, lower pressure drop, and good flow distribution. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the main development processes of a plate cooler for medium-speed engine lubricant oil cooling in vessels which is in line with the development trend of PHEs and to provide its thermal performance data that were found out during experimental tests. The plate cooler in this study cannot measure the wall temperatures directly due to its structural characteristics, so the heat transfer coefficients were calculated using the modified Wilson Plot method. The water-to-water tests were first conducted experimentally to figure out the characteristics of heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops on the water side and then the water-to-oil tests followed to obtain the heat transfer coefficients on the oil side. The test results showed that heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops on both water and oil side increased with flow rates, and it was also found that all the development targets of the plate cooler in this study were achieved successfully.

There are lots of buildings which were built before the Legislation on building energy rating system. Remodeling of the buildings would be required for an improvement of the building energy rating system was enforced by the government. In the Passive Building Design, Elements which will be used for the remodeling are Insulation, Window, External venetian blind, Heat exchanger. The Purpose of this study is to indicate a Method for the improvement of Energy saving by an analysis of Construction Cost, Cost Evaluation, Energy performance Efficiency in applied design elements. In this study, the remodeling of existing public buildings to improve energy efficiency rating was applied to extract the elements of design-specific energy performance, efficiency, and the application of the designs that has been analyzed. The results were as follows: applying the design-specific cost-effective investment that represents the economy (investment efficiency/%) surveyed the average insulation(7.0%), triple glazed windows(10.1%), double glazed windows(12.1%), external shading(24.5%), and Heat(77.2%) were analyzed in order to be more efficient. Analysis of the basis of information on the existing public buildings to improve energy efficiency rating for the remodeling depending on driving conditions at a degree of individual difference. The main effect, however, depending on economic investment, design elements, heat exchangers, external awning, double glazed windows, triple glazed windows, insulation, is recommended as review of the order shall be determined.
