  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect that preferred music listening had on police officers' occupational stress and fatigue. The musical intervention took place over a total of six sessions from October 11 to October 19, 2016. At each session, the experimental group (n = 19) received 20 minutes of music listening with individually customized playlists that were compiled based on their preferred music list. The control group (n = 21) simply took a break from work for 20 minutes. Every participant checked his or her occupational stress and fatigue level before and after the experiment using the Occupational Stress Inventory and Subjective Symptoms of Fatigue Test. The data were then analyzed by the SPSS 22.0 statistics program. To examine the homogeneity and pretest-posttest results between groups, an independent t test was conducted, and a paired t test was used to examine the pretest-posttest results within groups. The results confirmed all hypotheses. Findings support that the use of preferred music listening is an effective way to help police officers to control their occupational stress and fatigue. This study used a convenience sample and has limited generalizability. Future research should explore interactive approaches in music therapy as well as receptive music listening for alleviating police officers' occupational stress and fatigue.

  • This is predictive correlational study to identify the influence of emotional labor and resourcefulness on turnover intention among clinical nurses. The participants were 138 clinical nurses and the data were collected by an online survey using a self-administered questionnaire from 10th to 17th April, 2016.The collected data were analyzed using SPSS program through t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffe's test and multiple linear regression. In the results, there were differences in emotional labor by age, marital status, job position, clinical career, shift work, in resourcefulness by gender, clinical career, and in turnover intention by age. As a result of multiple linear regression, emotional labor and resourcefulness were selected as significant related variables affecting nurse's turnover intentions. These factors accounted for 3.7% of turnover intention, which necessitates the consideration of a specific plan to reduce emotional labor and increase resourcefulness for decreasing clinical nurse's turnover intention.

  • Although this research puts the emphasis on the importance of the personality education, and lacks the understanding of the early childhood educator about the personality education, and essentially the content analysis of the direction of the operation of the personality education hasn't been performed. Therefore through the research study once again we collected the opinion of the early childhood educator about the personality education. As the object of the investigation, we questioned 208 teachers who work in the Daycare Center in the S city, and applied the SPSS 18.0 program. The result is as the following. First, there was a lot of concern in the understanding of the early childhood educator about the personality education, and that it was in need. The reason for emphasizing the personality education appears to be the "Individual Egoism", and the "Parental Value" as the factor of influence, and "Whole People Human Development and Health Promotion" as a factor of helping, and "Courage" as the inner information of the information of the personality education, and "Manner" as the outer information. Secondly, more than the majority was carrying out the personality education in the real state of the early childhood educator on the personality education and it happens to be that the instructional material is the "Material related to the personality education", "Conversation" as the teaching learning method, "Once per week" as number of times, "Within 30 minutes" as lead time, "Teacher in Charge" as the host, and "Uncooperative parents" as the difficulty. Lastly the accurate time of demanding the early childhood educator about the personality education happens to be from "Infancy", and the teaching method is "Teaching by making a connection with the family", and that "Leading by example of the teacher" is the factor of consideration.

  • This study is a methodological approach to the study of a customer experience-based Tuberculosis(TB) management service design for a local public medical institution, with the application of the service design process by the Design Council in the UK. This study designed a TB management service for a local public medical institution using the service design method which identifies and resolves TB management-related problems based on experiences of medical personnel of TB facilities as well as of TB patients. To design a TB management service for the whole process from hospitalization to discharge and then to cooperation with local communities, a team was formed with 12 TB management-related personnel. The team went through the four phases of service design process: Discover, Define, Develop and Deliver. In addition, the TB management service based on customer experience was developed that included eight services related to processes from hospitalization to discharge and cooperation with local communities. According to the study results, a service design methodology was found to be considerably effective in developing a service program that takes into account an overall circumstance of various relevant personnel as well as patients. It is suggested that further studies use a service design methodology in developing various health management service programs in need of improvement of work efficiency among relevant personnel as well as providing the best satisfaction for customers by identifying hidden needs based on their experiences.

  • This historical research was conducted to analyze and categorize the titles which were presented in the journal, The Korean Nurse, from August 1962 to October 1995. Titles which were published with the purpose of educating graduate nurses and to update 0 their nursing knowledge to improve professional practice were included. There were 348 articles published from the beginning of publication in August, 1962 to October, 1995. All of the journals were reviewed except nine missing journals which were not available in any library. According to the characteristics of the articles in the periodical, the articles were divided into three periods. In each of the three peroids there were five categories: Subject, Clinical Practice, Fundamentals of Nursing Science, Nursing Administration, Others. These categories were adopted from Kim's(1994) division system which was developed to analyze nurse's insurance education program. The special feature peroid was from August, 1962 to December, 1974. In this period the articles were presented in an unorganized manner in the area of special feature or main issue. The largest area was the subject category(44%). The second largest area wes the fundamental of nursing science category(31%). From May, 1975 to December, 1977, the articles with the educational purposes were published in a designated area called continuing education. This period was labelled as the continuing education period. Among the published articles in this period, 45% focused on the subject category and 45% on the fundamentals of nursing science category. In this period the articles were focusing on nurses 'work in specific areas such as industry, nurses' aid schools, and nursing administration, articles on physical assessment first started to appear. The written continuing education period was from January 1978 to October, 1995. All the educational articles published in this area were analyzed and categorized into five areas as for the other periods. 48% of the articles focused on the subject category. In the mid-eighties, the term nurse specialist first.appeared and ten years later in 1990, the titles were subdivided into more specific titles, such as, home nursing, industrial nursing, emergency nursing, 23% were in the fundamental nursing science category and they dealt with nursing process, nursing theories, theory development. For the content analysis, three articles, one from each period, dealing with cardiovscular diseases were selected for comparsion. First, the special feature period, the title of the article was on diet therapy for cardiovascular disease patients, but instead the content was about rest, hygiene, medication, observation. They recommended rings to prevent bed sores, which is now considered as a cause for bed sores. In the continuing education period, the content was more focused on rehabilitation rather than general nursing .care. It became more specific, systematic, and organized compared with the special feature period. In the written continuing education period, the focus was on rehabilitation, not broadly, but very specifically on exercise. The further research on the content analysis is recommended along with a comparison of the trends in the Journal of Nurses Academic Society.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the practice of nutrition education and perceptions for implementing nutrition education in elementary schools. In this survey, 833 dietitians, 808 principals and 3,141 teachers across the country were asked about the present status and problems as well as necessity, methods, education time, education subjects and the proper nutrition educator ratio. The results of the survey showed that only 4.2% of dietitians implemented nutrition education during regular school hours or through special activities. Many subjects responded that the reasons for not practicing nutrition education were systematic problems of lack of time due to too much food service work. Especially, many rural area dietitians responded that the reason was lack of time due to joint management and cooking. Many dietitians, principals and teachers responded that the placement of one nutrition teacher in every school is needed to resolve these problems. Other solutions suggested were the introduction of a dietitian internship, and the modernization of foodservice facilities for principals and teachers. Of those surveyed 98.4 percent of principals and 95.5 percent of teachers responded that nutrition education is urgently needed. Many subjects also responded that the first three years of elementary school are the most proper time for nutrition education and it is best that these lessons are reinforced at least once a month through discretional or special activities. Survey participants responded that the proper ratio for nutrition educators is 400-800 persons for dietitians compared to less than 400 persons for principals. In conclusion, it is hoped that this study will be able to provide a foundation of data for implementing a systematic nutrition education program by nutrition teachers in elementary school.

  • Baculovirus was originally isolated from the alfalfa looper and contains a 134-kbp genome with 154 open reading frames (ORF). The major capsid protein VP39 together with some minor proteins forms the nucleocapsid ($21nm{\times}260nm$) that encloses the DNA with p6.9 protein. They are double-stranded, circular, supercoiled DNA molecules in a rod-shaped capsid. Wild-type baculoviruses exhibit both lytic and occluded life cycles that develop independently throughout the three phases of virus replication. Recombinant baculoviruses can transfer their vectors and express their recombinant proteins in a wide range of mammalian cell types. Especially, inclusion of a dominant selectable marker in these baculoviral vectors can express diverse recombinant genes in many cells. Baculoviral vectors were reconstructed with cytomegalovirus (CMV) promoter, uroplakin II promoter, polyhedron promoter, vesicular stomatitis virus G (VSVG), enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP), protein transduction domain (PTD) gene and so on. These reconstructed vectors were infected into various cell and cell lines. We performed transfection and expression of these recombinant vectors comparison with other control vectors. From this study, we knew that transfection and expression of these recombinant vectors have higher efficacy than any control vector. • Objectives : For the screening of neuroprotective effects of medicinal herbs, the complex system of animal models suffer some disadvantages in controlling critical parameters such as blood pressure and body temperature. Additionally, application of drugs to the appropriate brain area sometimes is difficult, due to poor permeability though the blood brain barrier, and so potential protective effects might be masked. Methods : Organotypic hippocampal slice culture (OHSC) method has the advantages of being relatively easy to prepare and of maintaining the general structure, including tissue integrity and the connections between cells. Drugs can easily be applied and neuronal damage can easily be quantified by using tissues and culture media. This study demonstrates neuroprotective effects of Puerariae radix (葛根, PR), Salviae miltiorrhizae radix (丹蔘, SR), Rhei rhizoma (大黃, RR), and Bupleuri radix (柴胡, BR). These were screenedand compared to MK-801, antagonist of NMDA receptors, by using OHSC of 1 week-old Sprague-Dawley rats. Oxygen/glucose deprivation (OGD) were conducted in an anaerobic chamber $(85%\;N_2,\;10%\;CO_2\;and\;5%\;H_2)$ in a deoxygenated glucose-free medium for 60 minutes. Water extracts of each herbs were treated to culture media with $5\;{\mu}g/ml$ for 48 hours. Results : Neuronal cell death in the cultures was monitored by densitometric measurements of the cellular uptake of propidium iodide (PI). PI fluorescence images were obtained at 48 hours after the OGD and medicinal herb treatment. Also TUNEL-positive cells in the CAI and DG regions and LDH concentrations in culture media were measured at 48 hours after the OGD. According to measured data, MK-801, PR, SR and BR demonstrated significant neuroprotective effect against excessive neuronal cell death and apoptosis induced by the OGD insult. Especially, PR revealed similar neuroprotective effect to MK-801 and RR demonstrated weak neuroprotective effect. Conclusions : These results suggest that OHSC can be a suitable method for screening of neuroprotective effects of medicinal herbs.
