The purpose of this study was to analyze the mediating effect of mental health on the relationship between health promotion lifestyle and subjective well-being of college students. The study subjects were 282 college students. Data were analyzed by ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Results, first, the health promoting lifestyle has a significant positive effect on subjective well-being. Second, the health promotion lifestyle had significant negative impact on mental health. Third, the variables of depression, psychopathic deviate, paranoia, psychasthenia, schizophrenia were significant mediating parameters in the relationship between health promotion lifestyle and subjective well-being. Based on these results, we discussed the importance of health promoting behaviors for mental health and happiness of college students.
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations among the internal health locus of control, depression, perceived health status, self efficacy, social support, and health-promoting behavior in Iranian breast cancer survivors and to determine influential variables. Materials and Methods: A predictive design was adopted. By convenient sampling the data of 262 breast cancer survivors in Iran were collected by questionnaires during 2014. Data were analyzed applying descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The internal health locus of control, depression, perceived health status, self efficacy, social support and undergoing chemotherapy all correlated significantly with the health-promoting lifestyle. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that social internal health locus of control, depression, perceived health status, self efficacy and social support and chemotherapy accounted for about 39.8% of the variance in health promoting lifestyle. The strongest influence was social support, followed by self efficacy, perceived health status, chemotherapy and depression. Conclusions: The results of the study clarifed the seriousness of social support, self efficacy, perceived health status and depression in determining the health-promoting lifestyle among Iranian breast cancer survivors. Health professionals should concentrate on these variables in designing plans to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Objectives: We investigated the clustering of selected lifestyle factors (cigarette smoking, heavy alcohol consumption, lack of physical exercise) and identified the population characteristics associated with increasing lifestyle risks. Methods: Data on lifestyle risk factors, sociodemographic characteristics, and history of chronic diseases were obtained from 7,694 individuals ${\geq}20$ years of age who participated in the 2005 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Clustering of lifestyle risks involved the observed prevalence of multiple risks and those expected from marginal exposure prevalence of the three selected risk factors. Prevalence odds ratio was adopted as a measurement of clustering. Multiple correspondence analysis, Kendall tau correlation, Man-Whitney analysis, and ordinal logistic regression analysis were conducted to identify variables increasing lifestyle risks. Results: In both men and women, increased lifestyle risks were associated with clustering of: (1) cigarette smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and (2) smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and lack of physical exercise. Patterns of clustering for physical exercise were different from those for cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption. The increased unhealthy clustering was found among men 20-64 years of age with mild or moderate stress, and among women 35-49 years of age who were never-married, with mild stress, and increased body mass index (>$30\;kg/m^2$). Conclusions: Addressing a lack of physical exercise considering individual characteristics including gender, age, employment activity, and stress levels should be a focus of health promotion efforts.
The purpose of this convergence study was to examine whether smartphone addiction predisposition mediated the relationship between perceived stress and health-promoting lifestyle in university students. A total of 332 subjects, recruited from a university in Seoul, participated by completing a survey which included questions about perceived stress, health-promoting lifestyle and smartphone addiction predisposition. As are result of the analysis, perceived stress had a significant positive effect on smartphone addiction predisposition. Perceived stress and smartphone addiction predisposition had significant negative effect on health-promoting lifestyle. Therefore, smartphone addiction predisposition had a mediating effect within the relationship of perceived stress and health-promoting lifestyle. Based on these results, we discussed the necessity of managing the stress and smartphone addiction to improve the health-promoting lifestyle of university students.
Data from the 2001 Korea Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, a nationally representative, cross-sectional survey, were analyzed to assess prevalence of health intended food use overall and in relation to socio-demographic and lifestyle characteristics. Health intended food were classified into four broadly defined categories: vitamin and mineral supplements, health aid food, animal protein based restorative food and medicinal plants. Thirty three percent of adults aged 20 years or older reported taking health intended food in the past year : twenty four percent took vitamin or mineral supplements and medicinal plants were taken by 17 % of adults, health aid food by 15% and animal protein based restorative food by 6%. In multivariate logistic regression, female gender, older age, more education, regular exercise and non smoking were associated with greater use of vitamin or mineral supplements. Dietary quality was significantly associated with use of vitamin or mineral supplements or health aid food but not with use of medicinal plants or animal protein based restorative foods. Obese persons were less likely to take vitamin or mineral supplements. These findings suggest that epidemiologic studies of diet, demographic or lifestyle and health take health intended food use into account because of high prevalence of use of the food by the population and differential use of the food by socio-demographic and lifestyle characteristics.

This is a correlational study to investigate the degree of expectation regarding aging, depression and health promotion lifestyle and to identify the factors influencing health promotion lifestyle among health checkup examinee. The subjects of the study were 143 health checkup examinee who visited the M medical center located in G Metropolitan city. Data were collected from July 5 to 21, 2016 using the structured questionnaire of self-report form. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression. As a result, health promoting lifestyle were correlated with expectation regarding aging positively, and with depression negatively. The factors influencing the health promotion lifestyle were education level, perceived health status, time to move to health care facilities, expectation regarding aging, and depression. With controlled general characteristics, the level of health promotion lifestyle was better explained by the addition of the independent variables of expectation regarding aging, and depression, and the explanatory power of the final model was calculated as 27.0%. Therefore, in order to improve health-promoting lifestyle, it is necessary to consider cognitive factors (knowledge, expectation regarding aging) and psychological factor (depression) besides physical approach.

This research is a descriptive study that aimed to identify the health knowledge and optimistic bias related to stroke of middle-aged adults and the effect these had on their health-promoting lifestyle. The research was conducted from July 15 to August 15, 2015. The research subjects were 191 adults aged between 40 to 60 years. A structured questionnaire was used and self-administered for data collection. The PASW Statistics 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs were used for data analysis, and analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling analysis were conducted. It was found that the middle-aged adults recognized smoking and hypertension as higher risk factors for stroke than diabetes, and there was a slight optimistic bias for stroke. Health knowledge about stroke had correlations with optimistic bias (r = -.143, p = .048) and health-promoting lifestyle (r = .268, p = < .001), while optimistic bias had correlations with interpersonal relationships and stress (r = .177, p = .014) in health-promoting lifestyle. In addition, health-promoting lifestyle affected health knowledge more than optimistic bias. In conclusion, it was found that the active information acquisition, health knowledge, and optimistic bias of middle-aged adults toward stroke were important factors pertaining to a stroke-related health-promoting lifestyle. Therefore, an education program to improve the health-promoting lifestyle related to stroke in middle-aged adults should be considered as a way to enhance stroke-related health knowledge and reduce optimistic bias.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze comprehensive lifestyle assessment and other assessments which evaluate essential lifestyle factors, including physical activity, nutrition and activity participation. Methods: To analyze the comprehensive lifestyle assessment, from January 2001 to June 2019, a literature search was conducted using the CINANL, NDSL, PubMed, and RISS databases. The search terms were 'lifestyle assessment' OR 'lifestyle profile' OR 'lifestyle test'. In terms of other assessments of essential factors of lifestyle, from January 2010 to June 2019, articles were searched using similar databases. The search terms were 'physical activity assessment' OR 'physical activity participation profile', 'nutrition assessment', 'activity participation assessment' OR 'activity participation and lifestyle'. Results: A total of 4,165 articles were obtained, and finally 31 articles were selected according to the inclusion criteria. Among 31 articles, there were five with comprehensive lifestyle assessments, and all of them were self-report questionnaires. The most popular assessments were the Health Enhancement Lifestyle Profile (HELP) and the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP), which were used in three articles (33%). In terms of assessment of physical activity, the most frequently used evaluation method was the self-report questionnaire, which was used in seven articles (58%) followed by objective assessments, which were used in four articles (33%). It was demonstrated that the Mini-Nutritional Assessment (MNA) was the most frequently used for nutrition assessment in the elderly. There were five types of assessment tool used for activity participation. Among them, meaningful activity participation assessment (MAPA) was the most frequently used tool. Conclusion: As a result of the systematic review, it was found that there are 21 assessments related to the evaluation of lifestyle in the elderly. Most assessments employed the self-report questionnaire method and mainly evaluated frequency and duration of participation in drinking, smoking, exercise, nutrition and social activities. Assessments of essential lifestyle factors were the self-report questionnaire method and the participation and frequency of activity. Therefore, by analyzing assessment tools, types of items and measurement methods of comprehensive lifestyle assessments and other assessment of essential lifestyle factors, this study provides the basic data on which to develop a standardized assessment tool that can evaluate the multifaceted lifestyle profile of the elderly.
