  • HUD 기술은 항공기 조종사의 시계확보와 조종 수행 능력 향상을 위하여 도입되었으나 최근에는 자동차 운전자의 운전 수행력을 높이고 안전 운전을 도모하기 위하여 차량에 도입되기 시작하였다. 하지만 HUD 기술이 실제로 일반 차량에 적용되고 관련 산업이 활성화되기 위해서는 현재의 기술개발 현황은 물론이고 관련 산업체의 기술개발 경쟁력, 활성화 정도, 성장 가능성에 대한 분석과 상용화를 위한 요구사항 및 애로사항에 대한 파악과 방안 마련이 우선적으로 수행되어야 한다. 따라서 본 고에서는 텔레매틱스 관련 각 산업계와의 심층 면접을 통하여 이러한 문제점들에 대한 산업 현장의 실질적인 현황을 파악하고 이를 토대로 HUD 기술이 텔레매틱스 분야에 성공적으로 적용되기 위해 필요한 방안을 도출해 본다.

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트카의 핵심과제인 텔레매틱스와 자동차의 기술융합을 통해 더욱더 향상된 운전자의 안전과 편의를 제공하는 차량 HMI(Human Machine Interface) 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 차량에 장착된 카메라로 촬영한 도로의 이미지를 실시간으로 레퍼런스 데이터베이스와 매칭하여 도로를 인식하는 기술을 사용한다. 매칭된 레퍼런스 이미지와 운전자 맞춤 텔레매틱스 정보를 합성한 증강현실 영상을 운전자의 시선에 보이는 실제 도로와 지형의 모양에 맞추어 HUD(Head-Up Display)에 투사하는 매핑 기술을 통해 운전자가 운전 중 항시 도로에 집중하여 안전운행을 할 수 있도록 고안하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 차량거리 제어장치를 구성하는 능동적인 안전장치 개발의 도구로써 선진국에서 선박 및 항공기에 이미 상용화되고 있는 이른바 Head-up display(HUD)를 차량에 도입, 차량정보 Monitoring System을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 차량에 도입하고자 하는 HUD의 개념은 차량 운전자의 전면 대시 보드 상에 디스플레이를 위치시켜 운전자 전면의 도로시야와 차량정보를 동시에 획득하여 안전도 및 편의성을 높이고자 하는 것이다. 그러나 디스플레이 정보가 맺히는 상이 놓이는 위치 때문에 기존의 HUD는 외부의 밝은 광 아래에서 선명한 정보를 얻기가 매우 어렵다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 광제어 필름, 빔 스플리터 등을 이용해 결상면에 코팅처리를 하였으며, 좀 더 고성능의 광원을 확보하고, 미러부의 각도변경 및 LCD의 투과율을 증대하였다. 그 결과 기존의 제품 보다 매우 높은 시인성을 나타내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The continuous development of in-vehicle information systems in recent years has dramatically enriched drivers' driving experience while occupying their cognitive resources to varying degrees, causing driving distraction. Under this complex information system, managing the complexity and priority of information and further improvement in driving safety has become a key issue that needs to be urgently solved by the in-vehicle information system. The new interactive methods incorporating the augmented reality (AR) and head-up display (HUD) technologies into in-vehicle information systems are currently receiving widespread attention. This superimposes various onboard information into an actual driving scene, thereby meeting the needs of complex tasks and improving driving safety. Based on the qualitative research methods of surveys and telephone interviews, this study collects the information needs of the target user groups (i.e., beginners and skilled drivers) and constructs a three-mode information database to provide the basis for a customized AR-HUD interface design.

SURF based Hair Matching and VR Hair Cutting

  • Hair styling has a significant influence on human social perception. An increasing number of people are learning hair styling and obtaining hair designer licenses. However, it takes a considerable amount of money and time to learn professional hairstyle and beauty techniques for hair styling. Since COVID-19, there has been a growing need for offline and video lectures due to the decline in onsite training opportunities. This study provides a field practice environment in which real hair beauty is performed in a virtual space. Further, the hairstyle that is most similar to the user's hair taken with a webcam or mobile phone is determined through an image matching system using the speeded up robust features (SURF) method. The matching hairstyle was created into a three-dimensional (3D) hair model. The created 3D hair model uses a head-mounted display (HMD) and a controller that enables finger tracking through mapping to reproduce the haircutting scissors' motion while providing a feeling of real hair beauty.

A Study on Korean Man's Head Ornaments in the Joseon Dynasty (조선시대 남자(男子)의 수식(首飾) 연구(I))

  • This study reviewed pertinent literature and examined relics of manggon(a headband worn to hold a man's topknot hair in place), donggot(a topknot pin), and chigwan(a topknot cover). Before the modernized short hair style, wearing a gat was an important custom. Therefore, manggon, which was used to hold a man's hair in place under the gat, was considered an essential part of the man's official dress code. Donggot is a pin that held the topknot hair in place. It was a must have for a married man, like the binyeo, a lod-like hairpin, for a married woman. Unlike gwanja, it had nothing to do with official rank, but materials were of a variety of materials, including jade and gold. The structure of the donggot was studied in three parts-head, neck and body. Major forms for the head include the mushroom, bean and ball. Bullet and half-cut bullet forms were also found. Forms for the neck include straight-neck and curved-neck. A neck with a belt around a double chin was also found. Forms for the body include the tetrahedron, octahedron and cylinder. The most popular form for silver and white bronze donggot heads was the mushroom, followed by bean and pile forms. Chigwan is also called chipogwan, chichoal, choalgyesogwan, noingwan and sangtugwan. In poetry it was called chichoal, and it used to be called taegogwan in the past as well. Chigwan was so small that it managed to hold a topknot. According to confucian custom in the Joseon period, by wearing chigwan, men didn't display their bare topknot even when they didn't dress up. When they went out, they wore another official hat over the chigwan.

Vehicle HUD's cognitive emotional evaluation - Focused on color visibility of driving information (차량용 HUD의 인지적 감성 평가 -주행정보의 색채 시인성을 중심으로-)

  • The main causes of traffic accidents while driving a car is of the driver's visual distraction. In this study, the color sensitivity of the information projected on the windshield were evaluated for HUD (Head Up Display) system which helps the driver's eyes on the road while driving. The driving Information were projected $9^{\circ}$ downward from front sight $0^{\circ}$ under lab's fluorescent lights, LED floorlights and the TV had having 25 [lux] illumination when driving at night environment and 100,000 [lux] of daylight environment. Munsell color hue of the basic five colors (R, Y, G, B, P) and the color of traffic lights YR, W were the color of the seven characters, each character were outlined by White, Gray except for W. Total of 19 experimental stimuli was shown in the environment of day and night driving for asking visibility information of color, fatigue, preferences, and evaluate the degree of interference. The results came out that the bright Y and G color is visibility significantly for daylight. Second, with the outline of the text, the color of the outline works as a background for luminance contrast effects and affects visibility. Third, without the outline, the glass in front of the vehicle acts as the background and the luminance contrast of characters achieve greater brightness and visibility. The luminance contrast between the stimuli and background should be considered for increasing color visibility for driving information which is an important factor for HUD commercialization.

Analysis of Homogenized Laser Beam Display by a Polymeric Stretchable Diffuser (스트레쳐블 폴리머 디퓨저를 이용한 균질 레이저 디스플레이 해석)

  • A stretchable polymeric membrane shaped diffuser was used to homogenize the coherent laser beam. The developed RGB module was used to focus and defocus test by beam combiners. Average oscillation frequency was set at 180Hz~300Hz and it resulted in the best homogenization effect in visual range. The blue laser module turned out to be the worst case for the transmission and primary reason is believed to be the short length of irradiated laser beam. The developed system removed the speckling and the brightness was decreased by 10 ~ 20% for the RGB laser. Overall the brightness was decreased by 13% and homogenity with respect to the temporal axis was improved from 30fs to 110fs.

  • Angular Deviation(AD) on transparency applied to TA-50 Aircraft deteriorates armament system's accuracy because it makes a difference in between actual and theoretical targets. In order to increase accuracy, therefore, TA-50 Aircraft measures AD on transparency and provide the measured values for the integrated mission display computer as a type of AD coefficients. This makes AD revised so that pilots can accurately see the actual target on their head-up display. In order to implement such mechanism into a real field, we develop a new device and system automatically measuring AD for the first time. We also deal with basic concept including AD induction formula as well as operating systems. As a consequence of testing the accuracy and precision for verifying reliability of the system, we got satisfactory results. In specific, the accuracy was within the resultant criterion of 1%. The precision was also satisfied with respect to the whole criteria. The system developed through this research is qualified as a military standard equipment for transparency of the canopy.

Development of Operational Flight Program for Avionic System Computer (항공전자시스템컴퓨터 탑재소프트웨어 개발)

  • This paper presents the technique to develop an operational flight program(OFP) of avionic system computer(ASC) which integrates the avionics control, navigation and fire control and provides informations for flight, navigation and weapon aiming missions. For the development of the OFP of ASC, two i960KB chips are used as central processing units board and standard computer interface library(SCIL) which is built in house is used. The Irvine compiler corporation(ICC) integrated development environment(IDE) and the programming language Ada95 are used for the OFP development. We designed the OFP to a computer software configuration item(CSCI) which consists of to three parts for independency of software modules. The OFP has been verified through a series of flight tests. The relevant tests also have been rigorously conducted on the OFP such as software integrated test, and ground functional test.
