The objective of this study was to investigate slaughtering performance, carcass grade, and quantitative traits of cuts according to seasonal influence by each month in pigs slaughtered in livestock processing complex (LPC) slaughterhouse in Korea, 2017. A total of 267,990 LYD ($Landrace{\times}Yorkshire{\times}Duroc$) pig data were used in this study. Results of slaughter heads, sex distribution, carcass weight, backfat thickness, grading class, total weight, and fat and lean meat percentages of each cut predicted by AutoFom III were obtained each month. The number of slaughtered pigs was the highest in early and late fall but the lowest in midsummer. Only in midsummer that the number of females was higher than that of castrates. During 2017, carcass weight was the lowest in late summer. Backfat thickness was in the range of 21-22 mm. In mid and late spring, pigs showed high 1+ grade ratio (37.05% and 36.15%, respectively). For traits of 11 cuts predicted by AutoFom III, porkbelly showed lower total weight, lean weight, and fat weight in midsummer to early fall but higher lean meat percentage compared to other seasons. Weights of deboned neck, loin, and lean meat were the highest in midfall compared to other seasons (p<0.05). In conclusion, characteristics of slaughtering, grading, and economic traits of pigs seemed to be highly seasonal. They were influenced by seasons. Results of this study could be used as basic data to develop seasonal specified management ways to improve pork production.
Live weight, body length, hip and shoulder heights, heart girth, and metatarsal length were measured on 100 one to two years old Bali (Bos javanicus) bulls. Multiple regression of these measurements on live weight gave a prediction equation involving heart girth and body length (prediction $R^2$ = 0.845). These measurements were also used to derive several frame scores (FS). Live weight (Lwt) divided by FS was used as an index of body condition. Lwt/(length+hip height) was normally distributed and highly correlated with other normally-distributed condition indexes. This index was used to define five body condition scores. These were used to develop a five-point body condition scoring system in which the amount of fleshing over the vertebral processes, ribs, hindquarters, tail head, hooks, at the top of the neck, and the shoulders, the development of wrinkles in the skin above the hock and the neck, and the size of the dewlap, were used to describe the different body condition scores. Animals of score 1 had prominent hooks, shoulders, vertebrae and ribs, and hollow hindquarters and flat tailhead. Score 5 animals had rounded hindquarters, well-filled upper hind legs, small mounds of soft tissue were apparent on the tailhead, their hooks, necks, shoulders, vertebrae and ribs were well covered, and the dewlap was prominent.
This study explores the effects of various factors on the use of nutrition information on food away from home (FAFH). Consumer groups were classified into groups according to their perception of being overweight and obese (correctly perceiving, underestimating and overestimating weight). For this, frequency analysis, a chi-square test, and an ANOVA were conducted to determine any differences between factors, and a logit analysis (SPSS 18.0) was conducted to identify those factors influencing the use of information. Information recognition, intentions to use information and the use on FAFH showed significant differences across the groups. In addition, health inspection, the perception of the intrinsic quality of restaurants, labeling, FAFH expenditure, and some individual characteristics showed significant differences between groups. The information recognition of FAFH had a significant positive effect on information use in all groups. In all groups, labeling had a significant positive effect on information use, and family health concerns had a significant positive effect on information use in the group correctly perceiving weight. The price of domestic food items, household head and household income had significant positive effects on information use in the group overestimating weight.
Failure to thrive (FTT) is a term generally used to describe an infant or child whose current weight or rate of weight gains is significantly below that expected of similar children of the same age, sex and ethnicity. It usually describes infants in whom linear growth and head circumference are either not affected, or are affected to a lesser degree than weight. FTT is a common problem, usually recognized within the first 1-2 years of life, but may present at any time in childhood. Most cases of failure to thrive involve inadequate caloric intake caused by behavioral or psychosocial issues. The most important part of the outpatient evaluation is obtaining an accurate account of a child's eating habits and caloric intake. Routine laboratory testing rarely identifies a cause and is not generally recommended. FTT, its evaluation, and its therapeutic interventions are best approached by a multi-disciplinary team includes a nutritionist, a physical therapist, a psychologist and a gastroenterologist. Long term sequelae involving all areas of growth, behavior and development may be seen in children suffering from FTT. Early detection and early intervention by a multidisciplinary team will minimize its long term disadvantage. Appropriate nutritional counseling and anticipatory guidance at each well child visit may help prevent some cause of FTT.

The auditory experiments based on the subjective annoyance responses were undertaken for the establishment of the adverb modifiers of the heavy-weight impact noises. The standard heavy weight impact noise, impact ball noise and adult walking noise were recorded by dummy head at a newly-built apartment and were presented to the subjects by headphones. The levels of the three impact noises were varied from 30 to 60㏈(A) and the subjects matched one of the adverb modifiers to each level of the noise sources. As a result, seven scale modifiers were established and the intervals between the modifiers were found as equal. In addition, it was found that the lower annoyance noise limits for the heavyweight impact, impact ball and walking were 40-45㏈ (L$\sub$I, Fmax. AW), which is 6㏈ lower than in the previous study. The background noise level was as low as 21㏈(A) in the test booth, therefore, the testing conditions need to be concerned for evaluation of floor impact noise.
Immunohistochemical staining for keratin proteins may be useful as a diagnostic parameter in head and neck neoplasm. Our study evaluates the keratin antibody staining properties of normal tissues and squamous cell carcinoma of the vocal folds from surgical procedures performed on 27 cases. In normal epithelia, low molecular weight cytokeratins were strongly positive in basal layer but apparently reduced in suprabasal layers and completely negative in superficial layer. In invasive squamous cell carcinomas, low molecular weight anti-ck Ab were positive in all carcinoma cells of poorly differentiated carcinomas. On the other hand, high molecular weight anti-ck Ab were positive in almost carcinoma cells of well differentiated carcinomas.

Combining basal insulin therapy with a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) has clear clinical advantages, and is supported by the latest EASD/ADA position statement (1). IDegLira is a once-daily combination of the basal insulin, degludec, and the GLP-1RA, liraglutide, in one pen. The DUAL phase 3 clinical trial program provides important evidence about the efficacy and safety of IDegLira in three different populations of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D): insulin naïve subjects uncontrolled on oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs), subjects uncontrolled on OAD(s) and a GLP-1 RA, and subjects uncontrolled on OAD(s) and basal insulin. Treatment with IDegLira reduced mean HbA1c to below the EASD/ADA treatment target of 7.0% in all five trials. The mean reduction of HbA1c from baseline ranged from 1.3% and 1.9%. IDegLira resulted in weight loss for subjects uncontrolled on basal insulin, was weight neutral for subjects on OADs and weight gain was minimal (2 kg) for subjects previously treated with a GLP-1 RA. Rates of hypoglycaemia were low across all the trials, particularly considering the level of glycaemic control achieved.

A total of 152 pig farms were randomly selected from the five provinces in South Korea. During the experiment, the average temperature and relative humidity was $24.7^{\circ}C$ and 74% in summer and $2.4^{\circ}C$ and 53% in winter, respectively. The correlation between floor space allowance (FSA) and productivity index was analyzed, including non-productive sow days (NPD), number of weaners (NOW), survival rate (SR), appearance rate of A-grade pork (ARA), and days at a slaughter weight of 110 kg (d-SW) at different growth stages. The objectives of the present study were i) to determine the effect of FSA on the pig productivity index and ii) to suggest the minimum FSA for pigs based on scientific baseline data. For the pregnant sow, NPD could be decreased if pregnant sows were raised with a medium level (M) of FSA (3.10 to $3.67m^2/head$) while also keeping the pig house clean which improves hygiene, and operating the ventilation system properly. For the farrowing sows, the NOW tended to decrease as the FSA increased. Similarly, a high level of FSA (H) is significantly negative with weaner SR of farrowing sows (p-value = 0.017), indicating this FSA tends to depress SR. Therefore, a FSA of 2.30 to $6.40m^2/head$ (very low) could be appropriate for weaners because a limited space can provide a sense of security and protection from external interruptions. The opposite trend was observed that an increase in floor space (> $1.12m^2/head$ leads to increase the SR of growing pigs. For the fattening pigs, H level of FSA was negatively correlated with SR, but M level of FSA was positively correlated with SR, indicating that SR tended to increase with the FSA of 1.10 to $1.27m^2/head$. In contrast, ARA of male fattening pigs showed opposite results. H level of FSA (1.27 to $1.47m^2/head$) was suggested to increase productivity because ARA was most affected by H level of space allowance with positive correlation ($R^2=0.523$). The relationship between the FSA and d-SW of fattening pigs was hard to identify because of the low $R^2$ value. However, the farms that provided a relatively large floor space (1.27 to $1.54m^2/head$) during the winter period showed d-SW was significantly and negatively affected by FSA.
This study was conducted to determine the effect of seminal sections of tuber and staking methods on growth and yield of a chinese yam (Dioscorea batatas Decne). Tuber was divided into top head, head, median and tail which were used as seminal sections of tuber. The emergence of shoots was delayed in median and tail sections by 15 days as compared with top head and head sections. Sections from head and tail exhibited yield increase as high as 16 and 15%, respectively, compared to top head sections. Although flowering and bubil setting occurred almost at the same time in all staking methods, fresh weight of stem and leaves was higher in ${\wedge}-$, I-type stake supporting net than in the conventional stake. In the cultivar, 'Dan-ma', tuber yield didn't show a meaningful increase statistically by all staking methods. But ${\wedge}-$ and I-type stake supporting net increased the yield of the cultivar, 'Jang-ma', as high as 11 and 8%, respectively, compared to conventional stake. Also I-type stake was ideal supportor of net, considering the cost of management.

Now days, various types of ships are operated to transport both cargo and passengers all around the world. Most of the important auxiliary machinery installed in those ships is fluid machinery such as pumps, compressors, and fans. A large percentage of fluid machinery is pumps which are classified as turbo and positive displacement pumps. This paper analyzes only turbo pumps out of the two types. This thesis has two aims: (a) to analyze the present status of pumps installed in merchant and training ships and (b) to find the correlation among sea going pump kW, port pump kW, GE kW, ME MCR, number of pumps, ME kgf, pump kgf. Based on the ship's type, my paper seeks to find special characteristics as a result of analyzing head, flow rate, and kW. Moreover this paper analyzes and compares number of pumps, rpm of pumps, pump kW/ME MCR and pump kW/GE kW under the conditions of seagoing and berthing according to the ship's type. In conclusion, (1) For the exact comparison, information on the head, kW, flow rate, number of pumps by ship's type, the pump installation status of the Merchant Ships and Training Ships were tabulated and compared in this paper. (2) In order to qualify one ship as the delegate ship, several methods were used. The result of the examination indicates that the chosen ships could be justified as a suitable representation of ships of their own type. (3) The correlation of several values(total pump kW, port pump kW, GE kW, seagoing pump kW, pump weight, ME weight, ME MCR, number of pumps and ME kW) could be obtained.
