Intrinsic safety is generally considered the safest method of operating electrical instrumention in potentially explosive atmospheres. The method of intrinsic safety limits the energy passing into the hazardus area. The energy limitation is provided by the use of safety barriers which are mounted in the safe area. Because of the energy limitation, regardless of the fault in the hazardous area, sufficient energy cannot be released to ignite the explosive atmosphere. The following industries are known to have hazardous locations: chemical. munitions, petrochemical, auto(paint spray booths), grain, waste water, printing, distillers, pharmaceutical. breweries, cosmetics, and utilities. In this paper, a isolator type barrier for ship(LNG, LPG, etc,) and test equipment confidence are proposed. The test equipments are designed for mechanical electrical life time test and vibration. All of test results satisfy the goal and the studied barrier shows the improved confidence.
This study estimated the correlation between surface area/weight ratios and pesticide residues in two varieties of tomato, mini tomato and tomato. The ratios of surface area/weight of mini tomato and tomato were $2.15cm^2g^{-1}$ and $1.00cm^2g^{-1}$ respectively. Pesticide residues were measured with four kinds of pesticide, chlorothalonil WP, chlorothalonil SC, oxadixyl WP, thiophanate-methyl WP. Ie residue amount of mini tomato was $1.4\sim2.4$ times higher than those in tomato regardless of the application date and frequency. The ratios of surface area/weight on tomato varieties played a key role for determining pesticide residue.
The existing researches related to the fog have focused on mainly the fog itself and its spatial variation. This study defined the hazardous fog as the fog with visibility under 500 m which caused the severe dangerous situation on roads and might cause traffic accident due to insufficient visibility. This study aimed to develop the hazardous fog index which quantified the degree of danger and included frequency of fog, visibility and its duration. We applied the index to 3 years weather station data in Korea and the results showed the distribution of the hazardous fog and their priority in terms of safety management. This was the first study that introduced the fog index in Korea and that quantified the degree of hazardous fog. These application results were useful for identifying the dangerous area due to hazardous fog and contributing to ensure the safety of eventual road users and road authorities.

Methods : This study was carried out a survey with structured self-administered questionnaire which was consisted of 7 questions about the management of MSDS, 9 questions about recognition and practice of hazardous chemical substances in dental clinics, and 7 questions about general characteristics. Total subjects of this study were 204 adult who workers in dental clinics located in Busan and Gyeng-nam province area. The collected data were analysed using the SPSS statistical package program (ver. 23.0). Results : The factor that positively affected factor on recognition and practice of hazardous chemical substances in dental clinics has experience that has been institutional health-care accreditation. The factor that positively affected the management of MSDS has experience that has been institutional health-care accreditation. Conclusion : It is necessary to prepare countermeasures such as campaign and education on cognition of general chemical substances, and also the author concern that it should be perform the education on handling of hazardous chemical substances in dental clinics for more effecting management of MSDS. In order to improve the management of MSDS and improve the awareness and safety of chemicals, it is necessary to encourage the implementation of the institutional health-care accreditation system or prepare guidelines for the management of MSDS.

A rapid, sensitive analytical method for glucuronolactone in beverages was developed and validated using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC-ESI-MS/MS). To determine the optimum analytical conditions for glucuronolactone, three different kinds of HILIC columns and two mobile phases with different pH values were examined. An amide-bonded stationary phase with a pH 9 acetonitrile-rich mobile phase was the best condition in terms of column retention, ESI-MS/MS response area, and signal-to-noise ratio. After extraction, glucuronolactone was separated through the HILIC amide column and detected by negative ESI-MS/MS in selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode. Nine energy drinks sold in Korea were spiked with glucuronolactone at a concentration of 5 ng/mL; the Monster $Energy^{TM}$ sample showed the smallest peak area and its signal-to-noise ratio was used for method validation. Good linearity was obtained in the concentration range from 20 to 1500 ng/mL with a correlation coefficient > 0.998. The developed method had a limit of detection (LOD) of 6 ng/mL and a limit of quantitation (LOQ) of 20 ng/mL. The recovery of this method at concentration of 20, 100, 500, and 1000 ng/mL was 96.3%-99.2% with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 1.6%-14.0%. A reproducibility precision assessment at concentration of 100 and 500 ng/mL was carried out among three laboratories. The recovery of that evaluation was 95.1%-102.3% with RSD of 2.7%-7.0%. An analysis of variance indicated that there was no difference between the recovery results of the three laboratories at the 5% significance level. The validated method is applicable to inspecting beverages adulterated with glucuronolactone in Korea.
Purpose: This study aims to propose measures for the prevention of fire and explosion accidents within manufacturing facilities by improving the existing classification criteria for hazardous locations based on the leakage patterns of flammable liquids. The objective is to suggest ways to safely manage ignition sources and combustible materials. Method: The hazardous locations were calculated using "KS C IEC 60079-10-1," and the calculated explosion hazard distances were visualized in 3D. Additionally, the formula for the atmospheric dispersion of flammable vapors, as outlined in "P-91-2023," was utilized to calculate the dispersion rates within the hazardous locations represented in 3D. Result: Visualization of hazardous locations in 3D enabled the identification of blind spots in the floor plan, facilitating immediate recognition of ignition sources within these areas. Furthermore, when calculating the time taken for the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) to reach within the volumetric space of the hazardous locations represented in 3D, it was found that the risk level did not correspond identically with the explosion hazard distances. Conclusion: Considering the atmospheric dispersion of flammable liquids, it was concluded that safety management should be conducted. Therefore, a method for calculating the concentration values requiring detection and alert based on realistically achievable ventilation rates within the facility is proposed.
Air pollution and traffic noise from roads distributed near residential area has been a major social problem. In this study, an environmental pollution map for a residential area of Shihung-city was made by an expectation model based on hourly traffic volume change. Using the result from the model, a plan to reduce population in the residential area was established. The result of the modelling is summarized as follows: 1. At peak traffic hours (18 o'clock), 301-500 degree in hazardous and $d_{25}$ degree (25% of the residents are suffering extremely from the noise) in noise pollution were predicted in Jeongwang Main Road in Shihung city. 2. The calculated critical pollutant standard index, PSI showed the air pollution level, especially PM-10 high enough to require re-entrainment. 3. It was expected air pollution would extensively extend over the area distribution of each degree. However, noise pollution problem was limited to the area near roads.

Problems of secondary pollution and hazardous pollutants have rapidly come to the front in our society during the past few years. More attention should be paid to monitoring and assessment in order to identify the nature of complicated problems, but our air-quality policy is hurriedly seeking for management strategies. A typical example is air quality management in the industrial estates such as those located in Yochon and Ulsan. Yochon Industrial Estate was designated as a special air-quality management area of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in 1996. And VOCs in the air of Ulsan Industrial Estate has been specially controlled since 1997. In this paper, however, it is suggested that hazardous air pollutants(HAPs) rather than VOCs should have been managed in the industrial estates. History of studies on organic compounds in the air of the industrial estates is reviewed. A stepwise approach for air quality management in the industrial estates is recommended.

The objective of ECMS(Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing Systems) is to consider environmental effects through the entire product life cycle from product development stage to design, manufacturing, supplying, using and disposing stage. Recently, environment-oriented recycling, reusing and manufacturing technologies have been researched actively in every engineering fields. In the field of chemical engineering, HHS (Health Hazard Scores) which classifies and analyzes hazardous materials in production processes has been presented. Metal cutting processes also have a lot of harmful factors, and especially hazardous components in cutting fluids have been known to have a bad effect on workers and working area. However, research works such as HHS have been little accomplished in metal cutting processes. In this research, a environmentally conscious machining process is presented by classifying hazardous components in cutting fluids, by using LCA(Life Cycle Assessments) and HHS method, and by evaluating environmental effects from cutting fluids.
