  • An optimized PWM switching strategy for an induction motor voltage control is developed and demonstrated. Space vector modulation in voltage source inverter offers improved DC-bus utilization and reduced commutation losses, and has been therefor recognizedas the perfered PWM method, especially in the case of digital implementation. Three-phase invertor voltage control by space vector modulation consists of switching between the two active and one zero voltage vector by using the proposed optimal PWM algorithm. The prefered switching sequence is defined as a function of the modulation index and period of a carrier wave. The sequence is selected by suing the inverter switching losses and the current ripple as the criteria. For low and medium power application, the experimental results indicate that good dynamic response and reduced harmonic distortion can be achieved by increasing switching frequency.

  • In order to design or predict the performance of a cylindrical electrostatic motor it is necessary to analyze the torque generated by such a structure. In this paper a simple but sufficiently accurate analytical model is developed for use in design. Conformal mapping are used to model the capacitance and torque of the motor as a function of the rotor position, using a quasi-static, two-dimension approximation, the effect of an insulating dielectric layer on the stator or rotor is also evaluated.

  • The present study proposes a detection technique for delaminations in a laminated compoiste structure. the proposed technique optimizes the spatial distribution of harmonic excitation so as to magnify the difference in response between the delaminated and intact structures. The technique is evaluated by numerical simulation of two-layered aluminum beams. Effects of measurement and geometric noises are included in the analysis. A finite element model for a delaminated beam, based on the layer-wise laminated plate theory in conjunction with a step function to simulate ddelaminations, is used.

  • The conventional grid connected PV(Photovoltaic) system has a unstable output pattern due to its dependence on the weather condition, although solar-cell array averagely has a regular output characteristics to have a peak output nearly at noon. Therefore assuming the high density grid connection in the future, this unstable output pattern can be one of the main reasons to generate power disturbance such as voltage variation, frequency variation and harmonic voltage generation in low voltage distribution line. However general grid connected solar-cell system do not have functions to cope with these disturbances. Therefore this study proposed a advanced type grid connected PV system with functions to suppress output power fluctuation due to solar-cell array output variation and showed the levelling effect of fluctuation due to instantaneous array output variation.

  • The four fuzzy criteria to distinguish the internal fault from the inrush fur the power transformer protection have been identified. They are based on the wave shape, terminal voltage, fundamental and second harmonic component of differential current. systematic way to determine the associated fuzzy membership function is also proposed.

  • Current Source(CS) PWM converter is appropriate for the magnet power supply system which requests high power and high precision current control. Input and output filters should be installed to eliminate the current or voltage harmonics caused by the PWM switching for the CS PWM converter. But the input/output filters limit the output DC current range and may destroy the system with filter resonance, and make the system equation more complicated. In this paper, systematic and simple filter design method which considers not only the harmonic attenuation but also the total system good transfer function characteristics in the dc filter. The simulated and experimental results verify the proposed theory. (author). refs., figs., tabs.

  • This paper presents a new time-stepping 3-D analysis method coupled with an external circuit with motion equation for dynamic transient analysis of induction machines. In this method, the magneto-motive force (MMF) generated by induced current is modeled as a passive source in the magnetic equivalent network. So, by using only scalar potential at each node, the method is able to analyze induction machines with faster computation time and less memory requirement than conventional numerical methods. Also, this method is capable of modeling the movement of the mover without the need for re-meshing and analyzing the time harmonics for dynamic characteristics. From comparisons between the results of the analysis and the experiments, it is verified that the proposed method is capable of estimating the torque, harmonic field, etc. as a function of time with superior accuracy.

  • This paper describes four switch three-phase Z-source rectifier with improved switching characteristics. This configuration has some advantages switching loss and optimal drive circuit. The rectifier has buck-boost function by shoot-through state. Also, the rectifier has the advantage of decreasing inrush current in start-up and transient states. In order to reduce harmonics PWM modulation technique with a variable index has been suggested. Four switch three-phase Z-source rectifier with improved switching characteristics can output stable DC voltage at the same time decreasing the system's harmonic current. And also the paper presents an application of DCC method in Z-source rectifier. Principles and dynamics of the system are discussed in detail. After having viewed the results we can confirm that the proposed method is eligible and efficient.

  • Resonant Inverter is analyzed by means of widely available software such a SPICE. In this paper, macro-model of RDCLI is used which is based on converter switch function rather than actual circuit configuration. Computer memory and nm time are greatly reduced compared to micro-model by using macro-model. System overall performance including control strategy and harmonic characteristics can be analyzed easily. This method is suited for stead state analysis and transition analysis at system level.

  • Voice conversion (VC) is a technique for modifying the speech signal of a source speaker so that it sounds as if it is spoken by a target speaker. Most previous VC approaches used a linear transformation function based on GMM to convert the source spectral envelope to the target spectral envelope. In this paper, we propose several nonlinear GMM-based transformation functions in an attempt to deal with the over-smoothing effect of linear transformation. In order to obtain high-quality modifications of speech signals our VC system is implemented using the Harmonic plus Noise Model (HNM)analysis/synthesis framework. Experimental results are reported on the English corpus, MOCHA-TlMlT.
