We treat the vibrations of circular beam and make use of the method employed by J.T.Tielking, which is based on the principle of Hamilton. The Hamilton's principle requires the determinations of the potential and the kinetic energy of the model as well as done by internal pressure forces. Thje potential energy is composed of a part due to elastic deformations of the beam and a part due to radial and tangential displacements of the tread band with respect to the wheel rim. The equations of motion for such a model are derived by reference to conventional energy method. The accuracy of the expressions is demonstrated by comparison of calculated and experimental natural frequencies for circular beam. The circular beam experiences a harmonic, radial excitat- ion acting at a fixed point on the beam. Modal parameters varying the inflation pressure and load are determined experimentally by using the transfer function method.

Friction is a dominant nonlinear factor in servomechanisms, which seriously deteriorates system accuracy. A friction compensator is indispensable to fabricate high-performance servomechanisms. In order to compensate for the friction in the servomechanism, identification of the friction elements is required. To estimate the friction of the servomechanism, an accurate linear element model of the system is required first. Tn this paper, a nonlinear friction model, in which static, coulomb and viscous frictions as well as Stribeck effect are included, is identified through the describing function approximation of the nonlinear element. A nonlinear element composed of two relays is intentionally devised to induce various limit cycle conditions in the velocity control loop of the servomechanism. The friction coefficients are estimated from the intersection points of the linear and nonlinear elements in the complex plane. A Butterworth filter is added to the velocity control loop not only to meet the assumption of the harmonic balance method but also to improve the accuracy of the friction identification process. Validity of the proposed method is confirmed through numerical simulations and experiments. In addition, a model-based friction compensator is applied as a feedforward controller to compensate fur the nonlinear characteristics of the servomechanism and to verify the effectiveness of the proposed identification method.
Linear cyclic systems (LCS's) are a class of systems whose dynamic behavior changes cyclically. Such cyclic behavior is ubiquitous in systems with fundamentally repetitive motions (e. g. all rotating machinery). Yet, the knowledge of the noise and vibration transmission paths in LCS's is quite limited due to the time-varying nature of their dynamics. The first part of this two-part paper derives a generic expression that describes how the noise and/or vibration are transmitted between two (or multiple) locations in the LCS's. An analysis via the Fourier series and Fourier transform (FT) plays a major role in deriving this expression that turns out to be transfer function dependent upon the cycle position of the system. The cyclic nature of the LCS' transfer functions is shown to generate a series of amplitude modulated input signals whose carrier frequencies are harmonic multiples of the LCS' fundamental frequency. Applicability of signal processing techniques used in the linear time-invariant systems (LTIS's to the general LCSs is also discussed. Then, a criterion is proposed to determine how well a LCS can be approximated as a LTIS. In Part II, experimental validation of the analyses carried out in Part I is provided.
Grid-connected converters have widely adopted LCL filters to acquire high harmonic suppression. However, the LCL filter increases the system order so that the design of the system stability would be complicated. Recently, sole-loop control strategies have been used for grid-connected converters with L or LC filters. But if the sole-loop control is directly transplanted to grid-connected converters with LCL filters, the systems may be unstable. This paper presents a novel dual-loop power control strategy composed of a power outer loop and a current inner loop. The outer loop regulates the grid-connected power. The inner loop improves the system stability margin and suppresses the resonant peak caused by the LCL filter. To obtain the control variables, a single-phase current detection is proposed based on PQ theory. The system transfer function is derived in detail and the influence of control gains on the system stability is analyzed with the root locus. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed control.

Type Ⅰ thyuroplasty in conjunction with arytenoid adduction is one of the excellent techniques in the treatment of unilateral vocal fold paralysis. But perioperative objective evaluation of the patients is difficult. With the development of the videostroboscopy and image analysis program, we could quantify the Glottal Area Waveform(GAW) in patients with unilateral vocal fold paralysis and investigated the relationship between the glottal area and aerodynamic and acoustic parameters. Eight female patients who were performed type Ⅰ thyroplasty in conjunction with arytenoid adduction and 5 females with normal vocal function were involved in this study. Preoperative and postoperative videostroboscopy and vocal function study wire performed. GAW was analysed quantitatively with image analysis program (Kay Stroboscope Image analysis, KSIP) Peak Glottal Area(PGA), Baseline Offset(BO), and Closing Phase(CP) were increased in patients with unilateral vocal fold paralysis and they were reduced after the operation. Mean flow Rate (MFR) was well correlated with the PGA in normal control group and unilateral vocal fold paralysis patients. Noise to harmonic ratio(NHR) was correlated with PGA only in preoperative unilateral vocal fold paralysis patients. In conclusion quantitative measurement of the GAW is useful method in evaluation of unilateral vocal f31d paralysis patients.

This study aims the development of a semi-analytic method for the parametric roll of large containerships advancing in longitudinal waves. A 1.5 Degree-of-Freedom(DOF) model is proposed to account the change of transverse stability induced by wave elevations and vertical motions (heave and pitch). By approximating the nonlinearity of restoring moment at large heel angles, the magnitude of roll amplitude is predicted as well as susceptibility check for parametric roll occurrence. In order to increase the accuracy of the prediction, the relationship between righting arm(GZ) and metacentric height(GM) is examined in the presence of incident waves, and then a new formula is proposed. Based on the linear approximation of the mean and first harmonic component of GM, the equation of parametric roll in irregular wave excitations is introduced, and the computational results of the proposed model are validated by comparing those of weakly nonlinear simulation based on an impulse-response-function method combined with strip theory. The present semi-analytic doesn’ t require heavy computational effort, so that it is very efficient particularly when numerous sea conditions for the analysis of parametric roll should be considered.

Discharge characteristics of inductively coupled plasma were investigated by using electrostatic probe and fluid simulation. The Inductively Coupled Plasma source driven by 13.56 Mhz was prepared. The signal attenuation ratios of the electrostatic probe at first and second harmonic frequency was tuned in 13.56Mhz and 27.12Mhz respectively. Electron temperature, electron density, plasma potential, electron energy distribution function and electron energy probability function were investigated by using the electrostatic probe. Experiment results were compared with the fluid simulation results. Ar plasma fluid simulations including Navier-Stokes equations were calculated under the same experiment conditions, and the dependencies of plasma parameters on process parameters were well agreed with simulation results. Because of the reason that the more collision happens in high pressure condition, plasma potential and electron temperature got lower as the pressure was higher and the input power was higher, but Electron density was higher under the same condition. Due to the same reason, the electron energy distribution was widening as the pressure was lower. And the electron density was higher, as close to the gas inlet place. It was found that gas flow field significantly affect to spatial distribution of electron density and temperature.
A molecular dynamic computer experiment was performed on a system of 108 particles composed of a single polymer chain and solvent molecules. The state considered was in the immediate neighborhood of the triple point of the system. The polymer itself is an analog of a freely jointed chain. The Lennard-Jones potential was used to represent the interactions between all particles except for that between the chain elements forming a bond in the polymer chain, for which the interaction was expressed by a harmonic potential. The self-diffusion coefficient and velocity autocorrelation function (VACF) of a polymer were calculated at various chain lengths $N_p$, and various interaction strengths between solvent molecules and a polymer chain element. For self-diffusion coefficients D, the Einstein relation holds good; as chain length $N_p$ increases the D value decreases, and D also decreases as ${\varepsilon}_{cs}$ (the interaction parameter between the chain element and solvent molecules) increases. The relaxation time of velocity autocorrelation decreases as ${\varepsilon}_{cs}$ increases, and it is constant for various chain lengths. The diffusion coefficients in various conditions reveal that our systems are in a free draining limit as is well known from the behavior of low molecular weight polymers, this also agrees with the Kirkwood-Riesman theory.
Permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is suitable for use in cleanroom environments and have advantages such as high speed, high thrust, and high precision. If the stators are arranged in the entire moving path of the mover, there is a problem in that the installation cost increases. To solve this problem, discontinuous armature arrangement PMLSM has been proposed. In this case, the mover receives a greater detent force in the section where the stator is not arranged. When a large detent force occurs, it appears as a ripple component of the thrust during PMLSM operation. If the shape of the stator is changed to reduce the detent force, the characteristics of the back EMF are changed. Therefore, in this paper, the detent force and the harmonic components of back EMF were reduced through multi-purpose shape optimization. To this end, the FEA model was constructed and main effect analysis was performed on the major shape variables affecting each objective function. Then, the optimal shape that minimizes the objective function was derived through the response surface analysis method.

This paper provides the free vibrations of chiral carbon nanotubes. The governing equations of Flügge theory is considered for vibration frequencies of chiral single walled carbon nanotubes. The solution of frequency equation is obtained from a novel model for better representation of stubby and short vibration characteristics of chiral tubes with clamped-clamped and clamped-simply supported end conditions. For the harmonic response of this tube, the model displacement function is adopted. The variational approach Rayleigh-Ritz method with kinetic and strain energies are used. The Lagragian function is differentiated with respect to unknown functions. The frequency equation is written in compact form to solve with MATLAB software. The frequencies of chiral SWCNTs for first ten aspect ratios as small level are investigated. The results shown as for decreasing the aspect rations, the frequencies are increases. The presented results of this model are verified with experimental and numerical results, which found as an excellent agreement.
