The purpose of the present study was to analyze the pulpal tissue reactions to several capping materials. 8 adult Mongrel dogs and 4 different capping materials (G I : Calcium hydroxide, G II : Bonding resin, G III : Glass ionomer liner, G IV : Bioactive ceramic) we-reused in the study. The results can be summarized as follows : 1. The formation of hard tissue barrier was observed to begin after 2 weeks in all groups with various forms or positions. 2. According to the result of statistical analysis, G I and G IV showed significantly higher degree of inflammation than G II, G III in 1-week samples(p<.05). And in 2-week samples, G I showed higher degree of inflammation than G II, G IV with statistical significance(p<.05). Howere, these inflammatory reactions have gradually dimiished with time resulting in negligible difference between groups. 3. No bacterial penetration was observed in any group. 4. Hard tissue formation was evident in all groups after 2 weeks regardless of material type in this experiment. Conclusion can be drawn from the above-mentioned results that the perfect marginal sealing after pulp capping procedure is thought to be the most important factor in determining the propgnosis of direct pulp capping.
The formation of a thicker hard alloyed layer have been investigated on the surface of aluminum cast alloy (AC2B) by PTA overlaying process with Cr, Cu and Ni motel powders under the condition of overlaying current 125-200A. overlaying speed 150 mm/min and different powder feeding rate 5-20 g/min. In addition the characteristics of hardening and wear resistance of alloyed layer here been examined in relation to the microstructure of alloyed layer. Main results obtained were summarized as follows: 1) There was an optimum overlaying condition to get a good alloyed layer with smooth surface. This good layer became easy to be formed as increasing overlaying current and decreasing powder feeding rate under a constant overlaying speed. 2) Cu powder was the most superior one in metal powders used due to a wide optimum overlaying condition range, uniform hardness distribution of Hv250-350, good oar resistance and freedom from cracking in alloyed layer with fine hyper-eutectic structure. 3) On the contrary, irregular hardness distribution was usually obtained in Cr ar Ni alloyed layers of which hardness was increased as Cr or Ni contents and reached to maximum hardness of about Hv400-850 at about 60wt%cr or 40wt%Ni in alloyed layer. 4) Cracking occurred in Cr or Ni alloyed layers with higher hardness than Hv250-300 at mere than 20-25wt% of Cr or Ni contents in alloyed layer. Porosity was observed in all alloyed layers but decreased by usage of spherical powder with smooth surface.

The hardness and physical properties of soils were measured in hiking trails of Mt. Halla and Darangshiorum in Jeju Island to examine the characteristics and formative factors of an aquiclude induced by human trampling. The soil hardness, being generally the highest on trails, decreases outward and shows the lowest on adjacent slopes in a natural condition. The bulk density and solid phase also demonstrates a similar tendency, then implying that the aquiclude occurs in the central part of trails. Although the formation of a hard layer in trails is fundamentally attributed to human trampling, the environmental factors such as landform, lithology, soil and vegetation play a role in the occurrence of the aquiclude. Soil compaction varies with the gradient and location of trails which affects a transport and deposition of soil particles to produce a hard layer. Soil compaction also depends on the physical properties of soils including the soil texture largely affected by lithology. Vegetation is not directly related with the formation of a hard layer, but affects its dimensions through an enlargement rate of bare trails depending on the response and resistance of plants to human trampling.

Har dmaterials such as cemented carbides with or without coated layer, cermets, ceramics and diamond or c-BN high pressure sintered compact are used for cutting tools, wear -resistant parts, rock drilling bits and/or high pressure vessels. These hardmaterials contain not only hard phase, but also second consituent as the element for forming ductile phase and/or sintering aid, and the mechanical properties of each material depend on (1) the amount of the second constituent as well as (2) the grain size of the hard phase. The hardness of each material mainly depends on these two factors. The fracture strength, however, largely depends on other microstructur a1 factors as well as the above two factors. For all hardmaterials, the fracture strength is consider ably affected by (3) the size of microstructur a1 defect which acts as the fracture source. In cemented carbides, the following factors which are generated mainly due to the addition of the second constituent are also important; (4) the variation of the carbon content in the normal phase region free from V-phase and graphite phase, (5) the precipitation of $Co_3$ during heating at about $800^{\circ}C$,(6) the domain size of binder phase, and (7) the formation of ${\beta}$-free layer or Co-rich layer near the surface of sintered compacts. For cemented carbides coated with thin hard substance, the important factors are as follows; (8) the kind of coated substance, (9) the formation of ${\eta}$-phase layer at the interface between coated layer and substrate, (10) the type of residual stress (tension or compression) in the coated layer which depends on the kind of coating method (CVD or PVD), and (11) the properties of the substrate, and (12) the combination, coherency and periodicity of multi-layers. In the lecture, the details of these factors and their effect on the strength will be explained.

Crystallization of zinc crystalline glaze requires demanding conditions such as the formation of a nucleating agent and the amount of nucleating agent, and growth of crystalline. Zinc crystalline glaze is hard to utilize in the industry because of its narrow range of the firing temperature, and the crystallization's dependency on the quality of zinc. Stimulation of zinc crystallization and formation of frit enable zinc crystalline glaze to be reconstituted in a various range of firing schedules, leading to the development of a competitive industrial glaze.

Cellular formation and layout problem has been known as a NP-hard problem. Because of the algorithm that can be solved exact solution within polynomial time has been unknown yet. This paper suggests a systematic method to be obtain of 2-degree partial directed path from the frequency of consecutive forward order. We apply the modified Kruskal algorithm of minimum spanning tree to be obtain the partial directed path. the proposed reverse constructive algorithm can be solved for this problem with O(mn) time complexity. This algorithm performs same as best known result of heuristic and metaheuristic methods for 4 experimental data.
Refrigerators have some frost related problems in a freezing compartment. The frost formation in the refrigerator gives customers a bad impression concerning quality problems. Therefore, many engineers have been studying the optimum solution to avoid frost formation. But the problem of frost formation is very complex and hard to approach to the answer. The frost generation of a household refrigerator have been widely known that is closely related to the distribution of temperature inside the compartment. The distribution depends on the cold air circulation inside the refrigerator. So frost problem can be reduced and energy consumption efficiency also improved through optimization of air flow fields inside the freezing compartment. In this paper, numerical simulation has been carried out to check fluid flow. The variation of temperature at the walls was measured and quantitative analysis of frost generated from the freezing compartment was carried out. Through comparison between simulation and experiment, some correlation revealed.
Magnaporthe grisea, a causal agent of blast, forms a specialized infection structure, an appressorium, to infect host. Hydrophobicity of contact surface and cAMP have been suggested as a primary environmental signal and a second messenger to trigger and mediate appressorium formation in this fungus, respectively. To generalize these factors in field isolates of M. girsea, twenty isolates originated from rice and other gramineous hosts were tested. Seventeen including rice and non-rice isolates formed appressoria on hydrophobic surface, but none of isolates formed appressoria on hydrophilic surface. Eighteen isolates formed appressoria on hydrophilic surface in the presence of IBMX, an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase, except two rice isolates. These results strongly support the hypothesis that appressorium formation by M. grisea is induced by hydrophobic hard surface and regulated by the endogenous level of cAMP in the cells. Understanding fungal development is not only of biological interest but provides new targets for novel disease control strategies.
In this study, fossil liverwort (Hepaticae) of Thallites yabei (Kryshtofovich) Harris is described based on the newly obtained material from the Lower Cretaceous Nakdong Formation of Sindong Group, Korea. The thalli of T. yabei is ribbon-like, bifurcating at least three or four times, and has a distinct midrib. Although the thalloid plants are herbaceous with little hard part, the thalli of T. yabei is relatively well preserved to show the sequentially bifurcating pattern in the specimens occurred in the same fossil locality. Such characteristics indicate that they were probably buried in situ. The abundant occurrence of thalli plants also indicate that land was covered densely by them as one of the terrestrial land plant members, and flourished under the tall arbor trees in the humid environment during the Early Cretaceous in the Gyeongsang Basin.
Heterotopic bone formation in abdominal incisions is a recognized but uncommon sequela of abdominal surgery. On the other hand, the formation of ectopic bone is a well-recognized complication following arthroplasty of the hip. Heterotopic ossification of midline abdominal incision scars is a subtype of myositis ossificans traumatica. Ectopic bone formation of midline abdominal incisions may cause regional pain or discomfort in the patient after surgery. If symptomatic, treatment is complete excision with primary closure. Radiologically, it is important to distinguish this benign entity from postoperative complications. We report a 69-year-old male who underwent exploratory laparotomy for traumatic small bowel perforation. A segment of abnormal hard tissue was found in the abdominal wall. Heterotopic ossification may occur at various sites and is a recognized but infrequent sequela of exploratory laparotomy. This case highlights clinical and etiological features of this finding.
