Recycling Waste Concrete for Low-Volume Road Pavement (페콘크리트를 재활용한 소도로 포장에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the results of field experience from an experimental pavement construction on a low volume road using recycled concrete. The recycled concrete was prepared by replacing a half of coarse aggregate with recycled aggregate. Virgin natural sand was used as fine aggregate together a plasticizer and a fly ash (0.8% and 5% by wt. of cement, respectively). The load bearing capacity of the subbase made of recycled aggregate was acceptable. The length, thickness and width of the pavement were l00m, 20cm and 3m, respectively. From construction experience, it was found that workability and finishability of the recycled concrete mixture were relatively poor, but strengths were satisfactory. Flexural strength, compressive strength and elastic modulus at 28 days were 54Kg/$cm^2$, over 250Kg/$cm^2$, and 220,OOOKg/$cm^2$, respectively. The construction could be performed by hand without much difficulty. The surface was finished smoothly by wet fabric and only minor cracks were found on the surface.

  • In this paper, we proposed realtime visual tracking system of moving object for 2D target using extended Kalman Filter Algorithm. A targeting marker are recongnized in each image frame and positions of targer object in each frame from a CCD camera while te targeting marker is attached to the tip of the SCARA robot hand. After the detection of a target coming into any position of the field-of-view, the target is tracked and always made to be located at the center of target window. Then, we can track the moving object which moved in inter-frames. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the Kalman filter algorithm for realtime tracking and estimated state value of filter, predicting the position of moving object to minimize an image processing area, and by reducing the effect by quantization noise of image

  • This paper describes the systematic control method of process information transfer and machine cell control in FMS implementation. We have constructed an experimental FMS computer network and control system. The system hardware consists of host computer to manage process data and information transfer of machine cells, cell control computers to control machine cells(NC lathe, machining center). On the other hand, software is made up of oredr management module, NC program searching and generation module, NC part program error check module and cell control module. In this study, we could arrive at conclusion as following : The first, each task could be accomplihed by the efficient information transfer in hierachical computer network. The second, data base system of part programs and process control data is needed for the efficint information transfer and production management. Lastly, expansion of FMS control system could be achieved by the hierachical and decentralized computer control system.

  • The Internet has produced a great variety of VOC data. However, they are hardly helpful for CRM because they are not integrated with VOC data of the related businesses yet. This paper has set up a system for the said VOC data to actually become helpful for CRM The system has two aspects. From the aspect of products, the customers' needs for products will be analyzed to produce what they actually want. From the aspect of customers, on the other hand, decent relationships with them shall be maintained constantly by thoroughly analyzing all the related data. The analyses on both of these aspects have the advantage of maximizing customer satisfaction by active CRM that makes us recognize what customers prefer, or complain of in advance and then provide them with tailor-made service.

  • This paper develops a portfolio management game applicable to Korean Stock Market with an emphasis on teaching and training aid. It allows each participant to start out with a certain amount of money and pick his favorable stocks from a list of stocks chosen by instructor. Each participant must make a transaction at each time period and he gets a readout that states his individual performance, i.e., stock lists, cash on hand, net worth, transactions he has made and rank in accordance with his net worth. This game package consists of 10 subprograms and 7 files written with Fortran language for use on the Nova 840 computer and is divided into 3 main categories according to their functions, i.e., book-keeping function, data processing function and information searching function. This package may be used for training portfolio decison makings in the stock market and for comparing various investment methods through hypothetical investments.

Reliability assessment of concrete bridges subject to corrosion-induced cracks during life cycle using artificial neural networks

  • Corrosion of RC bridge decks eventually leads to delamination, severe cracking and spalling of the concrete cover. This is a prevalent deterioration mechanism and demands for the most costly repair interventions during the service life of bridges worldwide. On the other hand, decisions for repairs are usually made whenever the extent of a limit crack width, reported in routine visual inspections, exceeds an acceptable threshold level. In this paper, while random fields are applied to account for spatial variation of governing parameters of the corrosion process, an analytical model is used to simulate the corrosion induced crack width. However when dealing with random fields, the Monte Carlo simulation is apparently an inefficient and time consuming method, hence the utility of neural networks as a surrogate in simulation is investigated and found very promising. The proposed method can be regarded as an invaluable tool in decision making concerning maintenance of bridges.

A Study on the Fatigue Strength Evaluation of Metal Matrix Composite (금속기 복합재료의 피로강도 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, rotating-bending fatigue tests of the SiC-whisker- reinforced 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and 6061-T6 alumiunm alloy made by power metallurgy were carried out to investigate the fatigue characteristics of plain and notched specimens at room temperature. The fatigue mechnisms in both materials were clarified through successive surface observations using the plastic replica method. In the case of the SiC-whisker-reinforced composites, there are whisker rich and poor zones and the fatigue crack is nucleated from the end of whiskers near the boundary. On the other hand, in the case of the 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, the fatigue crack is nucleated from defects and propagates by shear. Moreover, the results were discussed based on linear notch mechanics.

  • Human chorionic gonadotropin hormone(H.C.G.) is secreted from the villus tissues of the placenta and excreted in lange amount into the urine. Its isolation is chiefly made from the urine of a pregnant woman. Recently, Matsushima attempted isolation of H.C.G. directly from the placenta itself. In order to prepare H.C.G. from human placenta, general method of extractiag and purifying proteins was applied. Its way was as follow: Crude H.C.G. was extracted from placenta with pH 9.0 and pH 5.0 aqua ammonia, and purified with pH 8.0 ammonia and 50% ethanol at pH 4.8. The purified H.C.G. showed two moving bands on the anode by paper electrophoresis. On the other hand, the H.C.G. from pregnancy urine (Standard. Pharm. Co.) showed same two bands but their moving ratio were different. The purified H.C.G. showed gonadotropin effect when it was injected young fomale rats 40r/cc per day for 5 days and weighted the increased ovary weight.

Coreless Electronic Transformer (코어없는 전자식 트랜스포머)

  • A coreless electronic transformer is proposed. Conventional iron cored transformer is heavy and bulky and it has substantial amount of no load loss. On the other hand, electronic transformer can be made of negligible no load loss and is small size and lightweight. It consists of rectifier and PWM inverter. Electronic transformer is easily modeled to conventional Buck converter; therefore, output voltage is controlled by duty ratio. It is thought to be suitable for applications where the operation duty is low. In this paper, a novel coreless transformer is proposed, then it's detailed analysis, simulative and experimental results are presented

Neural Network Based Camera Calibration and 2-D Range Finding (신경회로망을 이용한 카메라 교정과 2차원 거리 측정에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deals with an application of neural network to camera calibration with wide angle lens and 2-D range finding. Wide angle lens has an advantage of having wide view angles for mobile environment recognition ans robot eye in hand system. But, it has severe radial distortion. Multilayer neural network is used for the calibration of the camera considering lens distortion, and is trained it by error back-propagation method. MLP can map between camera image plane and plane the made by structured light. In experiments, Calibration of camers was executed with calibration chart which was printed by using laser printer with 300 d.p.i. resolution. High distortion lens, COSMICAR 4.2mm, was used to see whether the neural network could effectively calibrate camera distortion. 2-D range of several objects well be measured with laser range finding system composed of camera, frame grabber and laser structured light. The performance of 3-D range finding system was evaluated through experiments and analysis of the results.
