  • The purposes of this study are to explore how the service recovery of the beauty shops and customers' perceived justice affect the customer relationship. A survey based questionnaire method was employed for this study. Data were collected by a convenient sampling of 232 female customers of hair beauty shops in Seoul and Busan. The data were analysed by using SPSS 21.0, including a frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis and multiple of regression analyses. The first result showed that all dimensions of service recovery had a significantly positive effect on the perceived justice. Especially, behavioral recovery of beauty shops was the major significant factor affecting perceived justice. Second, distributive justice and interactive justice had a significant effect on satisfaction. However, procedural justice did not have any significant effect on satisfaction. Finally, satisfaction was significantly and strongly associated with both trust and commitment. These results provide empirical proposition that the recovery strategies for complaint handling of the beauty service shop are related closely to relationship marketing.

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify store attributes for nail stores (focusing on independent stores) by qualitative research. Even though the nail market is showing a steady increase in terms of sales amounts, and the number of stores, related studies were very rare. Meanwhile, as long as the nail market is growing, many stores are suffering from bad business performance because of new nail stores are relatively easier to open than beauty or hair stores, but the nail stores don't have a discriminated marketing strategy. As nail the market is rapidly increasing, finding factors that led to success for nail stores is very meaningful, both for academics and business. The reason that qualitative research should be done before the quantitative research is due to scant theoretical background concerning this matter. For this qualitative research, 8 experts who are operating nail stores as an owner or a manager or a professor at a university who had over 5 years of related working experience were included. The attributes for nail stores were derived using one-to-one in-depth interviews conducted from March 3 to May 31, 2019. As a result of the qualitative studon the attributes for nail stores, it turned out that there were 5 factors-physical environment, product, speed, profitability, and reliability. Physical environment, product, and profitability were mentioned in most related surveys, but some details showed that and speed and reliability have been newly highlighted. Many unknown issues that were not easy to acquire from common academic research are included. After this study, I hope that many marketers may get basic conditions to apply to real businesses and that they can use it as effective data for the following quantitative research.

  • p-Pheylenediamimine (PPD) is one of hair dye's ingredients, and the mixture of PPD with hydrogen peroxide is generally used to dye hair at beauty shop. This study is conducted to investigate the effect of oxidized PPD on rat skin. 6% hydrogen peroxide, PPD (5% PPD in 2% $NH_4OH$) or the mixture (isovolumed mixture of 5% PPD and 6% hydrogen peroxide in 2% $NH_4OH$) was applied to rat skin ($25\;mg/16.5\;cm^2$) five times every other day. The activity of acid phosphatase (ACP) was more increased in the mixture of PPD with hydrogen peroxide applied group than PPD applied group. Furthermore, the activity of glucose 6-phosphatase (G6Pase) in the mixture of PPD with hydrogen peroxide applied group showed higher decreasing rate than that of PPD applied group. In histopathological findings, the mixed PPD with hydrogen peroxide applied group showed more thickening of epithelium, increased numbers of dermal fibroblasts, and the dilatation of dermal capillaries than PPD applied group. The significant increasing of xanthine oxidase (XO) activity was determined in mixture of PPD with hydrogen peroxide applied group compared with PPD applied group. However, reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging system, the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) were more significantly decreased in mixed PPD with hydrogen peroxide applied groups than in PPD applied group. In conclusion, topical application with the mixture of PPD with hydrogen peroxide compared with PPD application resulted in imbalance with ROS generating and scavenging which probably led to severe skin injury.

  • The work of hairdressers includes washing, coloring, bleaching, permanent waving, conditioning, and cutting hair. Hairdressers are subjected to a number of physical and toxicological hazards. The toxicological hazards are those resulting from exposure to a wide range of chemicals that are usually classified active processes. In this study, twenty beauty shops were selected to assess the exposure to indoor air pollutants such as VOCs and particulate matter $(PM_{10})$ during one month from September 1 to September 30, 2003. Indoor air quality of beauty shops might be worse by vehicle emissions because the beauty shops were generally located near roadways. Personal exposures to VOCs and $PM_{10}$ were related to indoor concentrations of beauty shops. According to the questionnaire, hairdressers complained of sore throat, eye irritation, and nervousness as physical symptoms. The measured mean concentrations of respiratory particulates were $30.5ng/m^3$ in indoor, $30.5ng/m^3$ in outdoor and $44.0ng/m^3$ on personal levels. The personal concentration was found higher than indoor and outdoor concentrations. The heavy metals mean concentrations were shown as indoor (Na>Zn>Cr), outdoor (Cr>Zn>Pb), and personal (Na>Cr>Zn) levels. Conclusively, customers as well as workers in the beauty shops might be highly exposed to air pollutants from indoor and outdoor sources. Therefore, proper management should be taken to improve the indoor air quality in beauty shops.

  • This study was implemented to amass and analyze the data from 500 Seoul district beauty shop workers, which came from the use of the SPSS18.0. The statistical analysis was conducted through frequency for demographic characteristics, validity for factors analysis by using Varimax rotation, and reliability for Cronbach's alpha coefficient.. Also, the analysis was once again analyzed through the Pearson correlation coefficient, where our hypothesis was proven through regression analysis. Our research results have shown that, first, job satisfaction and job performance differed over matters like gender, age, education level, employment conditions, job category, overall work experience, daily work hours, and monthly income. Second, job satisfaction was shown to have a significant influence on job performance, where higher job satisfaction levels led to higher job performance. Thus, job satisfaction was a great factor to increase job performance by fulfilling their needs level. Also, they would act more positive and future-oriented when they have special needs like motivate achievement, wage, promotion, and reward. Therefore, managerial staff should continually develop any programs in order to upgrade beautician's job performance through their job satisfaction.
