Schwannomas originating from the external auditory canal are relatively uncommon whereas they are commonly found in head and neck region. The authors recently experienced a 18-year-old male with a large mass in his right side external auditory canal. The mass was reported as a schwannoma and after the local excision, no symptom or sign of recurrence was identified. We report the case with literatures.

This study was conducted to estimate groundwater reserves within a designated depth. Three methods were applied to one representative county in southern Gyeongsang province, South Korea, to estimate the groundwater reserves in the aquifers. Estimated amounts of groundwater reserves in the region ranged from $20.2{\times}10^9m^3$ to $68.7{\times}10^9m^3$ (average $37.9{\times}10^9m^3$). Groundwater recharge obtained with a recharge ratio of 16.6% was $1.1{\times}10^9m^3/year$. Exploitable groundwater with an assumption of decadal-cycle minimal rainfall of 977.0 mm/year was approximated as 72% ($0.8{\times}10^9m^3/year$) of the total replenished water by recharge. The volume of recharge and exploitable water accounted for only 1.1% and 0.8% of groundwater reserves, respectively, which indicates substantial capacity of the reservoir to supply groundwater in an event of unexpected droughts. Nonetheless, each groundwater well should strictly comply with its allocated pumping rate to avoid alluvial groundwater depletion.

Warthin's tumor is the second most common benign tumor of the parotid gland, which consists of epithelial and lymphoid components. Malignant change is known to be extremely rare. In Korean literature, only a case of low grade adenocarcinoma arising from Warthin's tumor was reported. For squamous cell carcinoma, there has never been reported in Korea. The authors report a case of squamous cell carcinoma arising from Warthin's tumor in a 77-year-old male, who was treated with primary resection. The patient is well without any recurrence or metastasis after 15 months of follow-up.

Pleomorphic liposarcoma is extremely rare in the head and neck region. It can be diagnosed by identifying multivacuolated lipoblast with pleomorphism. Most studies have reported that pleomorphic liposarcoma shows an aggressive behavior with poor prognosis. The treatment of choice is wide resection to ensure negative margin. The authors report a case of pleomorphic liposarcoma in a 67-year-old female, who was treated with primary resection of tumor and postoperative radiation therapy. The patient is well without any recurrence or metastasis after 1 year of follow-up.
