Exploring Visualization Process of Expert Teachers: a Case of the Simple Visual Task

  • This paper focuses on finding out visualization process by means of VTA(Visual Task Analysis) of expert teachers' simple task. Findings indicate teachers have coding schema of performing visual task as such; (a) the analyzing by reading and some activities in the task text, (b) conceptualizing or understanding in his/her own way, (c) the explaining of the action or product, (d) the searching by thinking or finding, (e) the decision of visualizing of the task. Expert teachers tried to visualize in the form of abstract graph, and to omit the object which was not directly related to the topic at the pilot study. VAT based on ground theory and protocol analysis was developed and performed. This case study suggests that an additional study for searching a guide and method might be beneficial for conducting a visual task analysis.

한국 소비자의 기대 인플레이션 결정요인 (Determinants of Inflation Expectations of South Korean Consumers )

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of consumers' inflation expectations using consumers' inflation perceptions and the sub-components of consumer price index (CPI) basket in South Korea based on a consumer survey conducted by the Bank of Korea (BOK). Design/methodology/approach - Using Carroll's (2003) epidemiological model, we analyzed data from January 2013 to January 2023, resulting in a data set of 121 observations for both inflation perceptions and inflation expectations. This study focuses only on aggregate inflation expectations and perceptions because of data availability from the BOK. Findings - Professionals' forecasts play a major role in forming consumers' inflation expectations, whereas the actual headline CPI and consumers' inflation perceptions do not. These results remain robust when including the sub-components of the CPI basket in the analysis. Research implications or Originality - It would be the most efficient way to suppress professionals' expected inflation in fighting against a substantial spike in consumers' inflation expectations. To guide consumers' inflation expectations based on BOK's inflation targeting, the bank needs to consider professionals' forecasts in devising monetary policies.

  • 본 연구에서는 입자질량고적재(high particle mass loading)의 경우가 전혀 고려되지 않았으며, 이것은 물론 임팩터가 사용되는 대부분의 경우, 즉, 대기중입자를 포집하는 경우에 입자의 적재량이 미소하기 때문이다. 그러나 임팩터 혹은 이와 유 사한 기능을 하는 장치의 응용은 매우 광범위하여 이중에는, OWG(optical wave guide) 제작이나 페인트 스프레이(paint spray) 또 입자공급장치에서 큰 입자를 걸러 낼 때와 같이, 입자의 적재량이 큰 경우도 적지 않다. 이러한 입자질량 고적재인 경우에는 입자운동이 기체유동장을 변화시키며 이에 따라 입자운동 자체도 변화되어진다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 관계를 분석하여 입자질량의 적재량정도가 입자의 포집효율에 미치 는 영향을 밝혀내었다.

중, 고등학교 투수의 투구 시 상지의 근활성도 비교분석 (Comparative Analysis of Upper Extremities Muscle Activity during Baseball Pitching in Middle and High School Baseball Players)

  • Background: The position of pitcher requires a lot of repetitive motion, and because of this, it is known that not only professional baseball players, but also middle and high school players are frequently exposed to injuries in baseball. The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in upper extremity muscle activity during repeated pitching and the activity of each muscle during repeated pitching by analyzing middle and high school pitchers, divided into groups by age. Methods: Twenty participants (10 middle school male students and 10 high school male students) were recruited for this research. The outcome measures included neuromuscular motor control, including the upper trapezius (UT), triceps brachii (TB), deltoid (DT), latissimus dorsi (LD), biceps brachii (BB), pectoralis major(PM), extensor carpi radialis(ER), and flexor carpi radialis (FR). Results: The two-way analysis of varaince (ANOVA) was used to compare the muscle activity variables between the middle school and high school students. The one-way ANOVA was used to compare the muscle activity variables within time differences each groups. Conclusion: Our results provided promising clinical evidence that guide for upper extremity muscles to increase pitching efficiency in middle and high school base ball players.

Design of a Dual-Drive Mechanism for Precision Gantry

  • Gantry mechanisms have been widely used for precision manufacturing and material handling in electronics, nuclear, and automotive industries. Dual-drive servo mechanism is a way to increase control bandwidth, in which two primary axes aligned in parallel are synchronously driven by identical servo motors. With this mechanism, a flexible coupling (compliance mechanism) is often introduced in order to avoid the damage by the servo mismatch between the primary drives located at each side of gantry. This paper describes the design guidelines of the dual-drive servo mechanism with focus on its dynamic characteristics and control ramifications. That is, the effect on the system bandwidth which is critical on the system performance, the errors and torques exerted on guide ways in case of servo mismatch, the vibration characteristics concerned with dynamic error and settling time, and the driving force required at each axis for control are thoroughly investigated.

  • Micro/meso cutting is getting more important in the fields of precision machining technology. A micro-turning lathe is one of parts to consist the Micro Factory. It accepts stepwise motion actuators that are used for feeding system instead of the conventional mechanism. It is consisted of two Piezoelectric ceramics; one is for feeding the slider, and the other is for clamping the slider in the guide way of the body. The linearity and positional accuracy of the actuators are good enough for high precision motion. The spindle unit is operated with DC motor on the top of the slider. The motion is communicated with miniaturized linear encoder attached on each side of axis. A mono crystal diamond tool is used for cutting tool. This micro-lathe has been made a machining experiment to see the characteristics of micro-machining.

A Simple Surgical Guide for Horizontal Bone Graft: A Technical Note

  • Horizontal bone defect in the anterior maxilla makes it difficult to place dental implant. The golden standard for bone augmentation is autogenous block bone graft. Tight contact with recipient site and rigid fixation are two key factors for successful block bone graft. Ramal bone graft has been the most reliable methods for dental implant field. However, the curvature of the alveolar ridge is different from ramal bone shape. Intraoperative trimming of ramal bone is cumbersome for surgeon. In this technical note, a simple way to design the ramal bone harvest using bone wax stent is reviewed.

고무차륜 경량전철의 충돌안전도 연구 (A Study on Crashworthiness of Rubber Tired AGT)

  • In the standard specifications for the urban EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) train, there are several items to ensure safety against accidents. The 21st to the 23rd items have much to do with the crashworthiness of the urban EMU train. In this study, a rubber-tired Automated Guide-way Transit (AGT) System under development by KRRI is numerically evaluated from the point of view of crashworthiness by applying the above crashworthiness items. The numerical results show that the design of the AGT satisfies the 22nd and 23rd items. But a design modification to adopt mechanical fuses is recommended to reduce impact accelerations with respect to the 21st item.

  • The EMS system requires a very delicate suspension control to maintain constant air-gap between the magnet and the guide-way rail. To maintain a constant air-gap with attraction force, the EMS system dynamics is changed according to uncertainties and disturbances, and it also requires reliability against component failures. Since uncertainties and component failures are frequently caused in EMS system, it is very important to develop the robust and reliable control system. In this paper, we consider the design problem for robust and reliable controller in the presence of uncertainties and component failures.

  • The function of a diagnosis is to provide information that can guide treatment. The physicians provides only a limited amount of information that is pertinent to the physical therapy management of the patient. In only a very general way does the diagnosis direct the physical therapy's treatment. Thus, by the members of the physical therapy profession recognizing their role and responsibility to become diagnosticians, they can begin to classify signs and symptoms more actively and develop the categories that will enhance the effectiveness of their practice and their contributions to health care.
