  • The fatigue crack growth behavior of high strength X80 pipeline steel was investigated with compact tension specimens that crack growth directions were aligned either parallel or normal to the rolling direction of the pipeline. Also, the fatigue crack growth rates for welded joint of X80 pipeline steel were investigated with compact tension specimens that crack growth directions were aligned either parallel or normal to the welding line. The experimental results indicated the fatigue crack growth behavior was markedly different in three zones, weld metal, heat affected zone and base metal of welded joints. There was a trend toward increment in the fatigue life of weld metal and heat affected zone as compared with the X80 pipeline steel.

  • The growth of crystals with high melting point$t_{fus}$$\geq$$1600^{\circ}C$ faces the researcher with experimental problems, as the choice of materials that withstand such high t is rather limited. Many metallic construction materials are in this high t range already molten or exhibit at least a drastically reduced mechanical strength. The very few materials with$t_{fus}$$1600^{\circ}C$ as e.g. W, Mo, and partially even Ir are more or less sensitive against oxygen upon heating. Whenever possible, high t crystal growth is performed under inert atmosphere (noble gases). Unfortunately, many oxides are not thermodynamically stable under such conditions, as reduction takes place within such atmosphere. A thoroughly search for suitable growth conditions has to be performed, that are on the one side "oxidative enough" to keep the oxides stable and on the other side "reductive enough" to avoid destruction of constructive parts of the crystal growth assembly. The relevant parameters are t and the oxygen partial pressure${po}_{2}$. The paper discusses quantitatively relevant properties of interesting oxides and construction materials and wasy to forecast theri behavior under growth conditions.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of growth regulators and medium composition on the growth of each stage in apical meristem culture for mass propagation of Zanthoxylum piperitum var. inerme Makino. The source material, shoot tip segments were taken from three-years old graft trees. Apical meristems were cultured in vitro on basal MS, GD, WS, half strength MS(1/2MS) and half strength GD(1/2GD) media supplemented with various concentrations for growth regulators(BA, IBA) and inorganic nutrients. The results summarized are as follows: 1. In culture establishment stage, ratio of culture establishment was 96.7% and the best resuit was obtained using MS medium supplemented with 1.0mg/l BA and 0.2mg/l IBA. 2. In shoot multitication stage, both shoot multiplication and growth were achieved in average 5.6cm. These results were obtained on in MS medium supplemented with 1.0mg/l BA and 0.2mg/l IBA. 3. In roothing stage, phloroglucinol(PG) acted as IBA synergist in root initiation. The most faverable combinations for root development was half-strength MS medium supplemented with 162mg/l PG and 0.2mg/l IBA, and ratio of rooting was 58.0%. 4. In Vitro formed plantlets were transplanted to paper pots in greenhouse with 85% of relative humidity. 96% of survival rate was obtained from artificial soil mix having same volume of sand, vermiculite, peat, and soil.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the compressive strength development and ecological characteristics of mortars using expanded vermiculite absorbing bacteria as a fundamental investigation to develop precast eco-concrete products. For bacterial growth under the high-alkalinity and high-dried environments within hardened mortars and for creating plant growth function to mortars, Bacillus alcalophilus and Rhodoblastus acidophilus were separated and cultured. The cultured bacteria were absorbed into expanded vermiculite selected for bacteria shelter. The expanded vermiculite absorbing bacteria was then added into mortar mixture as a volumetric replacement of fine aggregate. Test results showed that the developed technology is very effective in enhancing the plant growth onto the hardened mortars and reducing the COD and T-N concentration in raw water. The optimum replacement level of expanded vermiculite absorbing bacteria can be recommended to be less than 10% considering the compressive strength development and cost of mortars along with the ecological effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of perceived job insecurity on job crafting behaviors among employees from two different cultures: Jamaica and South Korea. Growth needs strength was also examined as a moderating variable on the job insecurity/job crafting relationship. This study collected 102 data samples from working individuals from Jamaica and 98 from South Korea. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the hierarchical regression analysis were used in order to analyze the data. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 24.0. Our research results indicated that perceived job insecurity has a significant effect on employees job crafting behaviors. The relationship between perceived job insecurity and job crafting behaviors differs based on culture. In addition, employees growth need strength moderates the relationship between the two variables. Although this study has some limitations, it contributed to the stress-coping literature by showing that individuals will engage in coping behaviors when they perceived job insecurity in the organization. In addition, culture and individual drive or need for growth plays an important role in how individuals cope with perceived stress or uncertainty.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the bracket shear bond strengths of the crystal growth solutions with those of the $37\%$ phosphric acid etch technique. The 4 crystal growth solutions were made experimentally in the lab, that is, (1) $30\%$ polyacrylic acid solution containing 0.3 M sulfuric acid (ES 1), (2) $30\%$ polyacrylic acid solution containing 0.6M sulfuric acid (ES 2), (3) $30\%$ polyacrylic acid solution containing 0.3 M sulfuric acid and 0.6 M lithium sulfate(ES 3), and (4) $30\%$ polyacrlic acid solution containing 0.3 M sulfuric acid and $5\%$ phosphoric acid(ES4). The $37\%$ phosphoric acid solution used as a control. Bovine lower incisor tooth enamel was treated by the above solutions for 60 sec, washed out for 20 sec with slow water stream, and bonded lower anterior edgewise bracket with the light curing orthodontic composite resin adhesives. The teeth bonded brackets were stored in the distilled water at room temperature for 24 h, and followed to test the bracket shear bond strength. The acid etch technque showed 177.6 kg/$cm^2$ of mean shear bond strength which was the highest among the enamel treatment solutions. ES 1 shown 58.4 kg/$cm^2$ of mean shear bond strength and that of ES 4 showed 66.5 kg/$cm^2$. There was no significant difference between the two(p>0.05). ES2 showed 110.6kg/$cm^2$ of mean shear bond strength which was $62.3\%$ of that of acid etch technique. ES 3 showed 131.1 kg/$cm^2$ of mean shear bond strength which was the highest among experimental crystal growth solutions and which was $74\%$ of that of acid etch technique. The shear bond strengths of the crystal growth solutions were significantly lower that that of acid etch technique(p<0.05). The results sugest that although bracket shear bond strength of $30\%$ polyacrylic acid solution containing 0.3M sulfuric acid and 0.6 M lithium sulfate were showed the highest, it is low for the clinical application of this solution.

  • At the beginning of 1930, the relations between the growth rate of plant and the magnetic field have been reported. It has been known as the magnetic field accelerates the activation of cells. But the study on the influence of magnetic field strength on the growth of plants is insufficient. In this paper, the effect of a magnetic field on the growth of radish sprouts was observed. We measured the growth of radish sprouts when the supplied magnetic field strengths are 20, 40, 60mT, respectively. We found that the rate of growth is the best when the supplied magnetic field strength is 60mT.

  • Metal matrix composites had generated a lot of interest in recent times because of significant in specific properties. It was also highlighted as the materials of frontier industry because strength, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant were superiored. In this study the strength properties of $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}/AC4CH$ were represented mixing the binder of $Al_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$. It was also fabricated by squeeze casting. $Al_{18}B_4O_{33}/AC4CH$ was fabricated at the melt temperature of $760^{\circ}C$ the perform temperature of $700^{\circ}C$ and mold temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ under the pressure of 83.4MPa and observed SEM. Fatigue crack growth rate tests on compact tension specimen(half-size) of thickness 12.5mm were conducted by using sinusoidal waveform. Compact tension specimens(half-size) were used and fatigue crack growth rate da/dN and stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}K$ were analyzed concerning to the R value of 0.1 and 0.05. In order to find out the value of ${\Delta}K$, load amplitude constant method was applied by the standard fatigue testing method describes in ASTM E647-95a. As the results of this study, Fatigue crack growth rate increased with in creasing the load ratio, Consequently, At equivalent stress intensity factors, the fatigue crack growth rates in MMC were faster than those of AC4CH alloy. then the fatigue life and the fatigue crack growth rate was investigated using scanning election microscopy(SEM)

  • Yield and growth characteristics were compared for five rice cultivars; a new Tongil-type, so called "super-rice", Dasanbyeo, an old Tongil-type Milyang 23, two japonicas Dongjinbyeo and Ilpumbyeo, and a new plant type (NPT)line IR65600-27-1-2. The objective of this stusy was to clarify the high yielding capacity of Dasanbyeo in terms of growth characteristics. The average grain yield (9 t/ha) of Dasanbyeo was higher than that of Milyang 23 by ca. 9% that of japonicas by 20 to 30%, and that of NPT line by ca. 100%. The higher grain yield of Dasanbyeo was attributable not only to the greater dry matter production but also to the higher harvest index (HI). Dasanbyeo showed the greatest dry matter at harvest owing not only to the rapid leaf expan-sion at early growth stage and the resulting high LAI through the entire growth stage but also to the high NAR despite the high LAI. The rapid leaf expansion of Dasanbyeo at early growth stage seemed to be related in part to the profuse tillering capacity. HI was 0.53 in Dasanbyeo, 0,51 in Milyang 23, 0.41 in japonicas, and 0.35 in NPT line. Dasanbyeo was indebted for its higher HI to the relatively high grain filling ratio in spite of a much greater sink size than the other cultivars. Dasan had a greater source to sink ratio during grain ripening as measured by LAD/spikelet and dry matter production/spikelet which showed positove correlations with the grain ripening ratio. New plant type (NPT) line showed the lowest grain yield owing to the small sink size and the low grain filling ratio which seemed to have resulted from the abundant occurrence of weak-strength spikelets. The weak sink strength, in turn, seemed to have suppressed photosynthesis during the grain ripening stage.
