China's Slowdown

  • This paper evaluates explanations for China's growth slowdown. The natural tendency for rapidly growing economies to slow down is a major factor, along with problems bequeathed by unbalanced growth, including a declining ICOR, slowing total factor productivity growth, and rising indebtedness. A number of other mechanisms are of lesser importance: demographics, President Xi's centralization of political power and anti-corruption campaign, and U.S. export controls. Sustaining growth in the longer term will require China to step away from investment, debt and export-fueled growth in favor of a balanced growth model with household consumption playing a larger role. Doing so will require hardening of the budget constraints of regional and local governments and restructuring of the nonperforming debts of property and construction companies.

  • These should be constructed partially, because many prestressed concrete box girder bridges in situ have large cross section and long span. Therefore, accurate prediction of differences, both elapse time of each construction stage and exposure of atmosphere at each position of cross section, is very important. Though it is importance, engineers are apt to overlook it. This study predicted cracks due to shrinkage and stress concentration phenomenon by each construction stage and then, ascertained reduction of tensile stresses after applying retrofit scheme.

  • The resonance frequencies, shunt impedances and Q-values for the higher-order modes in our designed cavity are calculated by the computer codes URMEL and MAFIA. A new computer code is developed to calculate the complex tune shifts for the randomness of the higher-order mode frequencies due to the construction errors of a cavity. The results with the construction errors are compared to those fo without error cases for the dipole mode and quadrupole mode.

13~18세 청소년기 여학생의 체형 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Somatotype Characteristics of Adolescent Girls between the Ages of 13 and 18)

  • This study analyzes the characteristics of somatotype changes of girls from the ages of 13 to 18 that provide basic data on clothing construction for middle and high school girls. We use data obtained from body measurements of 1,590 adolescent girls 13 to 18 years of age provided in the 6th national anthropometric survey report. The differences among the age groups for 56 direct measurements were analyzed by ANOVA, and the structures of the differences by SNK (Students-Newman-Keuls test) were analyzed. The two major growth ages were 'ages 13-14' and 'ages 15-16'. The first major growth ages focused on all measurement items of height, length, circumference, breadth, depth and other items. The second one focused on measurement items of height and length of torso, circumference, and breadth of lower body. The major growth pattern of the age groups was 'ages 13<14&15<16&17&18' which appeared focused on the height and length items of upper body and torso, the width items of lower body and the circumference items of upper body and lower body. The measurement items of front length like waist front length, N.P. to B.P to waistline, N.P. to B.P., and B.P. to B.P. showed the growth pattern for 'ages 13<14<15<16<17&18'.

  • 첨단융합건설연구단은 건설교통부와 건설교통기술평가원의 지원을 받아 건설기술과 미래 성장 신기술의 융합을 통하여 차세대 국가 성장동력을 확보하는 비전을 가지고 2005년 9월 30일 출범하였다. 연구단의 목표는 이러한 비전을 실현시키기 위하여 첨단기술과 건설기술의 체계적인 융합연구를 위한 기술개발시스템을 구축하는데 있고, 그 업무 범위는 기획, 설계, 시공, 유지관리를 포함하는 건설프로젝트의 원가, 시간, 품질, 안전에 관한 성과향상을 위한 기술 개발에 있다. 건설혁신로드맵의 출현과 더불어 새로운 역할을 부여받고 있는 첨단융합건설연구단은 21세기 초일류 국가로 나가기위한 새로운 건설기술시스템 창출에 일익을 담당할 것으로 기대된다.

  • Recently IT industry has its eyes on IT Converged Technology as its future growth engine. Now, local governments are busy with planning U-City Constructions to improve their competitiveness. While this shows the ripple effect of U-City Constructions, the related standards or laws don't still seem to be established. The existing Construction Criteria which comprehends only construction could not apply to U-City development. Therefore Construction-Information Converged Technology Criteria should be needed. And fundamental research of Criteria should be preceded. The objective of this research is to develop Structure of Construction-Information Converged Technology Criteria on U-City. The new comprehensive Criteria for Construction-Information Converged Technology would be fundamentally basic standard for U-city development. Thereafter local governments, the main body of the projects, could use Construction-Information Converged Technology Criteria so that there must be lest trial and error to Construction U-City Project.

A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS ON EFFICIENCY AND TOTAL FACTOR PRODUCTIVITY IN CONSTRUCTION FIRMS BETWEEN KOREA AND JAPAN

  • The aim of this study is to compare efficiency and Total Factor Productivity(TFP) between Korean and Japanese construction firms in Korea and Japan over the period of 2005-2011. The results of this study are as follows. Efficiency scores of Korean construction firms are 0.797, and Japanese construction firms are 0.921. Second, annual total factor productivity growth of Korean construction firms is 0.5% and technical progress do much for TFP decrease. However Japanese construction firms marked annual increasing of 2.5% of TFP. Third, technical progress contributed in TFP increase of construction firms in Korea. Korean construction firms, however, relatively lagged behind Japanese construction firms in technical progress. Therefore, Korean construction firms need strategies to achieve technical advances including adopting new technology or process innovation to maintain competitiveness, survive, and develop in the future competition with Japan.

화산력-시멘트 혼합 바이오 블록의 미생물 생장 특성 (Growth Characteristics of Microorganism on Lapilli-Cement mixed Bioblocks)

  • This research aims to utilize lapilli from the Mt. Baekdusan as environmently-friendly construction material. First of all, the neutralizing method for fabricating lapilli-cement-mixed bioblock was examined. And then, by use of the neuralized bioblock with microorganism for water purification, the growth inhibition effect against the pathogenic coliform bacillus was evaluated. The result regarding growth inhibition effect on pathogenic coliform bacillus indicates that the pretreatment condition, which is a concurrent procession with aqueous solution of 10% di-ammonium Phosphate after water curing, led to pH degraded below 10 which was the target value. Therefore it was concluded that the method was effective on bio-block neutralization. The microorganisms purifying water and di-ammonium phosphate were detected through the examination for microorganism existence on the bioblock, therefore it was concluded that the bioblock composed of lapilli and cement is able to be utilized in various structures as an environment friendly construction material.

Growth of 1 inch $LuVO_4$ single crystals by the edge-defined film-fed-growth (EFG) technique

  • In suite of their superior optical and laser properties rare-earth orthovanadate single crystals have not been adopted yet into extensive industrial applications because of crystal growth difficulties. The edge-defined film-fed-growth (EFG) technique was applied successfully for the production of such crystals. At first time 1 inch $LuVO_4$ single crystals were grown by the EFG technique using newly developed die construction of high porous iridium with the application of automatic diameter control system.
