연초엽조직의 물질대사에 관여하는 몇가지 효소활성에 관하여 (Changes in the Activities of Certain Enzymes in Tobacco Leaf (Nicotiana tabacum) during Growth)

  • The metabolic enzymes, nitrate reductase, amylase and peroxidase and the Photorespiratory enzyme, Slycolate oxidise in Nicotiana tabacum varieties were studied at various growth stages. The enzyme activities of young leaves with rapid growth were different from those of old ones with stationary growth. In young leaves, activity of nitrate reductase was higher than that in mature ones and amylase activity was fairly constant in all stages. Activities of glycolate oxidise and peroxidase were found to be significantly lower in young leaves than in mature ones. Activity of glycolate oxidase in mature middle leaves was 2.45 times higher than that of young ones and inhibited by 36% when the enzyme was treated with 0.16 mM isonicotinic hydrazide.

번데기동충하초와 눈꽃동충하초의 배양특성 및 항균활성 (The Cultural Characteristics and Antibacterial Activities of Cordyceps militaris and Paecilomyces tenuipes)

  • Cordyceps militaris(번데기동충하초)와 Paecilomyces tenuipes(눈꽃동충하초)의 배양특성 및 항균활성을 비교하였다. 균사 생장 최적 배지는 C. militaris는 MCM, P. tenuipes는 YMA이며 MMM 배지 상에서는 두 균주 모두 생장이 저조하였다. 균사 생육 최적 온도는 $25^{\circ}C$이였고 C. militaris는 5회 이상 계대 시 균사 생육이 저하되었다. 적정 영양원 선발에 있어 두 균주 모두 탄소원은 단당류의 fructose, 이당류의 maltose 그리고 다당류의 dextrin이 적합하였다. 질소원은 유기태에서 C. militaris는 calcium nitrate, P. tenuipes는 sodium nitrate가 적합하였으며 무기태에서는 ammonium tartrate가 적합하였다. 항균활성은 Gram(+)의 Bacillus cereus에 대하여 C. militaris에서만 나타났다.

Psychosocial Adjustment in Korean Colorectal Cancer Survivors

  • Purpose: The increasing survival rate of colorectal cancer demands various nursing interventions and continuous care for patients to adapt to their psychosocial daily lives. The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with psychosocial adjustment in colorectal cancer survivors. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with face-to-face interviews was conducted of 156 colorectal cancer survivors after surgery visiting an outpatient cancer clinic at a tertiary hospital in S city, Korea. Posttraumatic growth, health-promoting behavior, length of treatment, difficulty in activities of daily living, and having a stoma were entered into the linear regression model. Results: The strongest factor influencing the level of psychosocial adjustment was health-promoting behavior (${\beta}=.33$, p<.001), followed by difficulty in activities of daily living (${\beta}=-.24$, p=.001), posttraumatic growth (${\beta}=.20$, p=.004), and having a stoma (${\beta}=-.19$, p=.004). Conclusion: Nursing interventions for psychosocial adjustment in colorectal cancer survivors need to include the contents for posttraumatic growth, as well as health-promoting behavior, and activities of daily living.

Growth-Inhibiting Effects of Herb Plants on Human Intestinal Bacteria

  • Essential oils of 21 herb plant samples, using spectrophotometric and paper disc agar diffusion methods under anaerobic conditions, were tested in vitro for their growth-inhibiting activities against Bifidobacterium bifidum, B. longum, Lactobacillus casei, Clostridium perfringens, and Escherichia coli. The responses varied with bacterial strains and plant oils. At 10 mg/disk, all essential oils did not inhibit beneficial intestinal bacteria, except for the oil of Alpinia officinarum and Melaleuca alternifolia against L. casei. Due to their strong growth-inhibitory activities against C. perfringens, E. coli, and L. casei, the activites of nine oils were evaluated at low concentrations. In test with C. perfringens at 1 mg/disk, the oils of Amyris balsamifera, Curcuma longa, M. alternifolia, and Trachyspermum ammi showed moderate activities. Moderate activities against E. coli were observed with the oils of M. alternifolia and T. ammi. These results may be indications of at least one of the pharmacological actions of the four herb plants.

패션기업의 사회적 책임 활동에 관한 연구 (A study on corporate social responsibility activities of fashion companies)

  • This study reviewed corporate social responsibility activities of fashion companies and discussed strategies of social enterprises. The research was conducted on 6 Korean fashion companies with sales over KRW 1 trillion as of the end of the term in 2015. Corporate social responsibility activities of each company were investigated from economic, social and environmental viewpoints. The results of this study were as follows: First, each company promoted win-win growth, co-existence management, transparent management and ethics management through economic activities. They pursued win-win growth and co-existence management, which aimed to respect and grow with their partners. Also, they ensured transparent management and ethics management to show their moral management. Second, each company conducted various social contribution programs as part of their social activities. Through the programs, they made donations, supported welfare and culture, and practiced voluntary work, local activities, training and equal opportunities. Third, as for environmental activities, each company tried to protect nature through various activities such as donation to environmental organizations, environmental cleanup activities, environmental management from production to disposal, reuse, eco-friendly system, environmental volunteering, etc. Articles on fashion companies' social responsibility activities have an influence on boosting their attitude and image towards businesses.

신뢰성 성장 강화를 위한 Analysis 방법(FMECA)과 Test(초가속수명시험-HALT) 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Reliability Growth Enhancement Activities Using "ANALYSIS" and "TEST" through FMECA and Highly Accelerated Life Tests)

  • 무기체계를 개발할 때, 개발 목적에 맞는 장비의 기능과 성능을 구현하는 것도 중요하지만, 개발 후 장비가 얼마나 신뢰성을 가지고 공백이 없이 운용유지를 할 수 있는지 매우 중요하다. 그렇기 때문에 장비의 신뢰성을 높이기 위하여 다양한 활동을 수행한다. 개발 시 높은 스펙의 부품을 사용하고, 분석을 통하여 신뢰도를 검증하며, 개발 시제품을 이용하여 시험을 통해 장비의 부족한 부분은 보강하고 개선하여 신뢰성을 강화시키기 위한 활동을 한다. 그러나 최근에는 급변하는 외부 정세 및 기술 등에 의하여 개발 일정이 단축되고, 비용 등의 문제로 인하여 충분한 신뢰성 성장활동을 수행하지 못하는 경우가 발생하고 있다. 분석적인 방법(신뢰도 분석, FMECA 등)으로만 신뢰성 활동을 하는 사업들이 그 예이다. 본 논문에서는 FMECA와 초가속수명시험(HALT)을 통하여 분석과 시험이라는 방법을 같은 장비에 각각 수행했을 때, 도출된 신뢰성 성장 활동 내용과, 그로 인한 설계변경/검토 결과가 두 방법에서 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 비교/분석하고, 신뢰성 성장 활동을 강화하기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 개발 초기부터 분석을 통한 신뢰성 성장활동 및 초기 시제 제작 완료 시 시험을 통한 신뢰성 성장활동을 모두 수행해야 한다고 분석되었다.

Growth-Dependent Variations in Antioxidant and Redox Enzyme Activities of Schizosaccharomyces pombe

  • Antioxidant and redox enzyme activities are known to be involved in the cellular responses to various stresses. Their variations were observed according to the growth cycle of the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Peroxidase activity appeared to be notably higher in the early exponential phase than in the mid-exponential and stationary phases. However, catalase activity showed a variation pattern resembling the growth curve. Glutathione S-transferase activity was higher in the early exponential and late stationary phases. Activities of the two redox enzymes, thioredoxin and thioltransferase (glutaredoxin), were high in the stationary phase. However, their activities appeared to increase from the early exponential to mid-exponential phase. Total glutathione content had a varying pattern similar to that of thioredoxin and thioltransferase. However, its content in the early exponential phase was high. These results propose that antioxidant and redox enzymes tested are also involved in the mechanism of cell growth.

목재부후성 담자균류 배양균사체의 생물활성 연구 -항균활성, 식물생장조절활성, 항암활성, 효소활성탐색- (Biological Activities of Culture Broth of Some Wood Rotting Basidiomycetes -Antimicrobial, plant growth regulatory, antitumor, and enzymatic activities-)

  • 목재부후성 담자균류의 배양 균사체의 생물활성을 조사하기 위하여 항균활성, 식물생장조절활성, 항암활성 및 그들이 생산하는 효소활성을 검정한 결과 Coriozus versicolor 5129와 C. pubescens 5131 균주는 그람양성세균에, Lenzites betulina 8029 균주는 그람음성세균에 저지 효과를 나타내었으며 L. betulina 8085 균주는 세균과 진균에 저지 효과를 나타내어 광범위한 항균 spectrum을 보였다. 대부분의 균주가 0.8ml/ml 농도 처리시 배추 및 무의 발아 및 생장을 억제하였으며, 특히 Fomitopsis pinicolor 8059와 Fomitella fraxinea 8084 균주의 경우 생육을 장하게 억제하였다. 그러나, Bjerkandera adusta 8054 균주는 0.4 및 0.2ml/ml농도에서 배추 및 무의 생육을 촉진하였다. 몇종의 목재부후균 다당체를 추출하여 암세포를 이식한 ICR mouse에 투여한 결과 거의 전 균주가 항종양 작용을 나타내었으나 버섯종류 간에 큰 차이를 보였고 그중 L. betulina 8029와 미분류된 8058 균주는 효과가 비교적 높았다. 목재부후균의 세룰로스와 리그닌 분해력은 거의 전 공시균주에서 나타났고 종류간에 역가가 다양하여 강력한 분해균의 선발 가능성을 보였다.

MC3T3-E1 세포의 분화에 PDGF-BB와 Dexamethasone 병용 효과 (The Effects of Combination of PDGF-BB and Dexamethasone on Differentiation of MC3T3-E1 Cells)

  • To evaluate the effects of Dexamethasone(Dex), Platelet derived growth factor-BB(PDGF) and combination of Dex and PDGF(DP) on the growth and differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells, Dex($10^{-7}\;M$) and PDGF(10 ng/ml) in experimental group were added to the cells at the days 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and examined for cell proliferation activities, DNA synthesis activities, ALP activities and bone nodule formation. The results were as follows : 1. In Dex group, cell proliferation, DNA synthesis and ALP activities were lower until 15 days when compared to the control group. Bone nodules formation were shown at 10 days. 2. In PDGF group, cell proliferation and DNA synthesis activities were higher until 15 days and ALP activities were lower when compared to the control and Dex groups. Bone nodules formation were shown at 20 days. 3. In DP group, cell proliferation and DNA synthesis activities of PDGF were suppressed by Dex and synergistic effects of combination of Dex and PDGF on ALP activities were shown at days 5 when compared to control and Dex groups. Bone nodules formation activities of Dex were suppressed by PDGF.

제빵에서 밀가루 Brew의 조성이 젖산균의 생육에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Composition of Flour Brew on Growth and Activity of Lactic Acid Bacteria)

  • This study was conducted to develop optimal composition of flour brew in order to economically utilize flour brew inoculated by lactic acid bacteria as a starter(mother sponge) in bread-making. Two flour brews were prepared ; one with flour and water, the other with flour, water and NaCl. Various nutrients were added to both flour brews and Lactobacilli deMan Rogosa and Sharpe (MRS) broth to investigate the effect of them on growth and activities of Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus brevis and their mixed culture in flour brews to be tested with incubation at 37$^{\circ}C$. The growth of Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus brevis and their mixed culture was stimulated by addition of NaCl with 0.85% concentratin and more by mixed culture than by single lactic acid bacteria, resulting in 3 hrs reduction in cultivation and more by mixed culture than by single lactic acid bacteria, resulting in 3 hrs reduction in cultivation time. the addition of 3% glucose to flour brew with NaCl was observed to enhance acid productioni by mixed culture. Yeast extract greatly affected growth and activities of mixed culture of lactic acid bacteria in flour brew with NaCl and its optimum level of this additive in flour brew with NaCl was approximately 1.0%. The optimal composition of flour brew for mixed culture of lactic acid bacteria was suggested as follows; flour 100g, water 300g, NaCl 3.46g, glucose 12.48g, yeast extract 3.46g.
