미세 구멍 펀칭 기구 개발 (Development of Micro Punching System)

  • A micro hole punching system was developed and micro holes of 100m in diameter were successfully made on brass sheets of loom in thickness. A micro punch made of tungsten carbide was designed to withstand the punch load, considering the buckling and the bending moment due to possible misalignment error. The punch was fabricated by the grinding process with diamond wheel. The die was designed considering the punch load and fabricated by micro electrodischarge machining process. In this system the stripper is designed to guide punch tip to minimize the possible misalignment. The punch was installed on a vertical stepper and the die was mounted on an X-Y translation unit. The precision motion controller controlled all motions of the micro hole punching system. In this study technical difficulties and solutions in the micro hole punching process were also discussed.

  • Mirror-like polishing system of hemisphericall high-speed precision bearing for digital VTR drum was developed. Mechamism of the polishing process was analyzed in the view point of polishing contact range and contact length between the tool and the workpiece surface. It was suggested that the two stage polishing process adoptiong the diamond grinding wheel and polishing tool instead of multistage lapping processes, which enables the mass production of the bearing by reduction of polishing time.

광 커넥터용 세라믹 Ferrule 가공기술 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Manufacturing Technology of Ceramics Ferrule for Optical Fiber Connector)

  • This paper presents the process of manufacturing technology of ceramics ferrule for opitcal fiber connector. Precision zirconia ceramic ferrules is widely for high performance and low cost single mode optical fiber connectors. To polish the hole of the zirconia ceramic ferrule, the wire lapping instrument is developed and the machining experiment is conducted. Through the centerless grinding using diamond wheel the surface roughness of zirconia ceramics ferrule is below the 1$\mu$m Rmax.

  • 최근 미래지향적 고부가가치의 첨단 산업 전반에 걸친 세계 각국의 연구 개발 노력이 더 한층 가속되 어지면서 특히 항공, 우주, 신운송기기, 정보 통신기기, 메카높틱스, 전자산업, 메카트로닉스 등에 있어 보다 더 가혹한 조건과 분위기 하에서도 우수한 특성과 다양한 기능성 등을 유지할 수 있는 신소재로의 소재 대체화 요구가 높아지게 되어졌다. 국내 역시 최근 다양한 종류의 세라믹스를 생산 하고있긴 하나 이와 같은 기계적 특성치를 구하기 위한 시험편의가공 및 제작을 최적화 수행하지 못하는 관계로 인하여 동일한 소재를 갖고도 충분히 신뢰도있는 데이터들이나 높은 값의 데이터들을 제시하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 굽힘 강도측정용 세라믹스 시험편을 최적 가공함으로써 기계적 특성치를 최대로발휘하 고자 한 바, 기 발표한 연삭 가공 조건 변화에 따른 최적화 가공 연구에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 보여지는 연삭 공구에 대한 "In-process dressign"을 최초로 도입하여 일반 연삭 가공을 실행해 봄으로써 그 효과를 명확히 규명하고자 하였으며, 이를 토대로 실제 부품화에 있어서나 Creep-feed grinding에 있어서도 적용할 수 있는 가에 대해서도 알아보고자 하였다.알아보고자 하였다.

측면 칩브레이커형 선삭인서트의 가공특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Machining Characteristics of Turning Inserts of Lateral Chip Breaker Shape)

  • So far, carbide insert production technology was carried out using a diamond grinding wheel. This production technology has problem that raise production costs and decrease in productivity. The SIDE PRESS method to solve this problem have been developed. In this paper, the machining characteristics of lateral chip breaker turning inserts produced by the SIDE PRESS method was studied. The cutting force and the resulting surface roughness were measured at various cutting conditions. The experimental results indicate that the chip breaker inserts of three-dimensional geometry is the best cutting performance.

  • There are many difficulties in automatic polishing for die & mold surfaces. Even though the process has been studied in the past 15 years, it has not been achieved yet, but by the process of actual hand work of well-skilled workers. A new magentic assisted polishing process, which is one of the potential method for automation of surface finishing has been studied in the past 10 years by colleagues. The process has many merits, but on the other hand also has demerits, one being low efficiency of gridability by comparision with grinding wheel polish. Therefore, some attempts were tried to improve the grindability by adopting electropolishing, ultra-high speed milling, 5-axis controlled machine etc... most recently by collegues. This study also aims to improve the efficiency of polishing by introducing the easily-polished shape surface milling method equalizing the tool feed per tooth to the pick feed. This milling method was experimentally confirmed to have sufficient grindability to polish milled surface (with 10 .mu. mRmax surface roughness) into mirror surface (with 0.4 .mu. mRmax surface roughness).

화물열차의 공기제동 완해성능 향상에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Improvement of Release Application Characteristics of Pneumatic Brakes for Freight Train)

  • Experimental study has been conducted to clarify the pneumatic characteristics of brake system for freight train and enhance the performance of diaphragm valve. Empty-load and diaphragm valves are installed in pneumatic brake system for freight trains of KNR (Korean National Railroad). Experiments are conducted by using freight train and diesel locomotive in operation. From the experimental results. new quick release valve shortens release time after brake application. In case of normal brake application, the release time is shortened to 34% of the original diaphragm valve. Reducing the release time of pneumatic brake system will be helpful to assure brake-release application and save maintenance efforts like wheel grinding.

시편 두께에 따른 알루미나 세라믹스의 이축 파괴 거동 (Biaxial Fracture Behavior of Alumina Ceramics ; Thickness Effect on Ball-on-3-ball Test)

  • Biaxial fracture behavior of alumina specimens with the diameter of 20mm and four kinds of thickness of 1.9, 2.3, 2.6 and 2.8mm was studied by the ball-on-3-ball test and the fracture results were analyzed by he analysis of variance (ANOCA), The strength measured with the down speed prescribed in ASTM showed that the measured strength was not dependent on the thickness of the specimens. Equivalent radius and crack-braching number were observed to increase lineraly with the thickness of the specimens. The jog direction was observed to study the effect of grinding direction on surface flaws. It is though that the surface finishing with #600 grit diamond wheel did not affect the surface flaws of the specimens.

  • The use of small hemispherical high-speed precision bearing has increased drastically these days in the field of computer disk driver, highteech devices as well as communication and electronic device drivers. It was suggested that the new polishing process adopting the diamond grinding wheel and polishing tool instead of multi stage lapping processes, which enables the mass production of the bearing by reduction of polishing time. Polishing mechanism was analysed and the results were applied to the design and manufacturing of the polishing system. Experiments for selection of optimal polishing conditions were carried out using the polishing system.

  • 최근 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC 및 전자기기 등의 사용이 증가함에 따라 커버글라스의 수요가 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 모바일 기기의 디스플레이가 대형화되면서 접촉이나 낙하 등과 같이 외부에서 힘을 받게 되는 환경에서 높은 강도를 유지하는 것이 요구되고 있다. 커버글라스 제작 공정에서 연마공정은 커버글라스의 표면거칠기 및 충분한 강도를 제공하는 중요한 공정이다. 기존 연삭 숫돌에 의한 가공방법은 커버글라스 가공표면에 스크레치, 칩핑, 노칭 및 마이크로 크랙 등의 가공 문제점이 발생한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 모바일 커버글라스의 연마를 위해 연마필름을 이용한 폴리싱 시스템을 개발하였다. 구조적 안정성을 평가하기 위해 연마 필름 폴리싱 시스템에 대한 유한요소모델을 생성하였고 다물체 동역학 해석을 수행하였다. 연마 필름 폴리싱 시스템에 대한 응력 및 변위 해석을 통해 특성을 분석하였고 레이저 변위 센서를 이용해 제작된 시스템에 대한 변위를 측정하여 구조적 안정성에 대해 확인하였다.
