Recently, with the increasing lightness and miniaturization of high resolution camera phones, the demand for aspheric glass lens has increased because plastic and spherical lens are unable to satisfy the required performance. An aspheric glass lens is fabricated by the high temperature and pressure molding using a tungsten carbide molding core, so precision grinding and coating technology for the molding core surface are required. This study investigates the effect of diamond-like carbon (DLC) and rhenium-iridium (Re-Ir) coating For aspheric molding core surface. The grinding conditions of the tungsten carbide molding core were obtained by design of experiments (DOE) for application in the ultra precision grinding process of the tungsten carbide molding core of the aspheric glass lens used in 5 megapixel, $4{\times}$ zoom camera phone modules. A tungsten carbide molding core was fabricated under this grinding condition and coated with the DLC and Re-Ir coating. By measurements, the effect of DLC and Re-Ir coating on the form accuracy and surface roughness of molding coer was evaluated.

This study is to investigate the magnitude, direction and distribution of residual stresses in surface ground plate according to working conditions. The specimens were made of structural carbon steel and were machined in various grinding conditions. These were divided in two groups; heat-treated materials and non-heat-treated materials. In each working condition, let the ground specimen generate displacements using deflection-etching techniques. At the same time, these displacements were precisely measured with electronic micrometer. Through the relation formula between the plane stress and strain, which was derived using these measured data, the values of residual stress are calculated, and the results are analyzed. These results are as follows : 1. According to the working conditions in this experiment, it can be seen that the distribution of residual stress generally had same trend and the maximum residual stress remained in 20~30 ((${\mu}m$) beneath the surface. 2. It is observed that compressive residual stress changes into tensile stress in 5~20 (${\mu}m$) beneath the surface. It is suggested that such phenomenon is originated from the friction effect in grinding process. 3. As the hardness increases by the heat treatment, residual stress increases. 4. As the fatigue strength increases by the compressive residual stress, it is desirable that the dowm feed and table feed reduce. 5. It can be seen that the more great the down feed and table feed increase, the more close the changing point, where the stress changed from compressive to tensile, is colse to the surface. This is due to the resultant effects of the grinding temperature and resistence are larger than the effect of the friction.

Purpose: It is to compare and evaluate the change of the wear rate and phase variation of the Zirconia before and after the sintering after the grinding by a high speed equipment manufactured for the Zirconia. Methods: The specimen of the sintered Zirconia was manufactured as size of $15mm{\times}15mm{\times}2mm$. The grinding has been applied to each of all pieces of each test groups for a minute fit for each condition at same speed of 50,000 rpm by a diamond bur at high speed handpiece with injection of the air and water. For the observation of the surface before and after the sintering of the each test piece, the cross section of it was observed as 100 magnification by a scanning electron microscope after it was coated by PT, and the diffraction analysis was performed by XDR to compare the crystal phase of the Zirconia. The average surface roughness value of all specimens were evaluated. The wear test was performed at room temperature by applying a load of 1kg for 120,000 cycles for the chewing period 6 months. Wear was analyzed for the enamel cusps by measurement of the vertical substance loss with a laser scanner. Conclusion: The phase variation from the tetragonal phase to the monoclinic phase was confirmed in the test group of the pre-sintered Zirconia after the grinding, and the value of the surface roughness and the wear rate was increased in experimental group.
The concentrate of lepidolite, being treated by heavy medium separation (HMS), was ground with calcium sulphate hemihydrate (CSH, $CaSO_4{\cdot}1/2H_2O$) to investigate the mechanochemical effect for the Li leachability in water. This leachability increased, dramatically through the intensive grinding for the mixture, concentrate and CSH. The leachability of Li was improved from 4.48% to 93.5%. The grinding of the mixture destructed the crystal structure of the concentrate, and it might be formed to new compounds. As the result, Li in the concentrate can be extracted by water leaching at room temperature.

To examine the grinding effect through preheating of waste concrete as a way of retrieving coarse aggregates from waste concrete, the removal rates of cement mortar and paste of both recycled aggregates and heated and grinded ones were investigated. As the preheating temperature increased, the removal rate of cement mortar from waste concrete was raised, and this kind of removal hardly affected the abrasion rate and specific gravity of aggregates. On the other hand, when it was treated over 40$0^{\circ}C$ of preheating temperature, the absorptance was reduced to less than 2.17, and cement mortar was effectively separated from waste concrete. It could meet the Korean Standards on recycled aggregates for concrete, and it is expected to expand the scope of utilization by making it possible to retrieve the aggregates which have the properties close to natural aggregates.
A 71.5 wt%Mg-23.5 wt%Ni-5 wt%$Fe_2O_3$ (Mg-23.5Ni-$5Fe_2O_3$) sample was prepared by a quite simple process, reactive mechanical grinding, and its hydriding and dehydriding properties were then investigated. The reactive mechanical grinding of Mg with Ni and $Fe_2O_3$ is considered to facilitate nucleation and shorten the diffusion distances of the hydrogen atoms. After the hydriding-dehydriding cycling, the Mg-23.5Ni-$5Fe_2O_3$ sample contained $Mg_2Ni$ phase. Expansion and contraction of the hydride-forming materials (Mg and $Mg_2Ni$) with the hydriding and dehydriding reactions are also considered to increase the hydriding and dehydriding rates of the mixture by forming defects and cracks leading to the fragmentation of the particles. The temperature dependence of the hydriding rate of the sample is discussed.
Recently, environmental pollution has become a serious problem in industry, and many researches have been done in order to preserve the environment. The coolant, which promotes lubrication, cooling and penetration, contains chlorine, sulfur and phosphorus to improve the machining efficiency. These additives, which move around into the air during machining, pollute working. Therefore, many researches on how to reduce the amount of coolant during machining have been carried out. However, to reduce even small amount of coolant causes high temperature of a workpiece and it brings thermal defects. In this study, the experiments of wet & dry grinding using cooling methods (using coolant only, mist and compressed cold air only) are performed to solve the problem of environmental contamination and to get a better surface integrity of a workpiece by comparing surface roughness, roundness and residual stress.

Glassy carbon is widely used for high temperature melting process such as quartz due to its thermal stability. For utilizing Classy Carbon to glass mold press(GMP) optical lens, brittleness of Glassy Carbon is main obstacle of ultraprecision machining. Thus authors investigated ductile machining of Glassy Carbon adopting turning and grinding process respectively. From the experiments, ultraprecision turning surfaces resulted brittle crack in all machining conditions and ultraprecision grinding surfaces showed semi-ductile mode in small undeformed chip thickness conditions.
The effect of sintering conditions on the sinterability for silicon nitride has been studied by many in-vestigators. However the effect of sintering conditions on the machinability which is the major barrier to the field applications of the ceramic components has not been fully studied. In this study the sintering con-ditions such as temperature gas pressure and time in silicon nitride were varied. The physical and mechan-ical properties of the gas pressure sintered (GPS) silicon nitride were measured. The optimum mi-crostructure of silicon nitride with the excellent machinability was investigated by MFG(magnetic-fluid grinding) technique. An attempt was made to figure out how the mechanical properties influence upon the machinability of silicon nitride ball.
An efficient and novel one-pot synthesis of new 3,4-dihydro-3-substituted-2H-naphtho[2,1-e][1,3]oxazine derivatives from 1-naphthol, various anilines and formalin at room temperature grinding is presented. The six-membered N,O-heterocyclic skeleton was constructed via zirconyl(IV) chloride promoted Mannich type reaction. In vitro antimicrobial activities of synthesized compounds have been investigated against Gram-positive Bacillus subtilis, Gram negative Escherichia coli and two fungi Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger in comparison with standard drugs. The results of preliminary bioassay indicate that some of title compounds possess significant antibacterial and antifungal activity.
