As the necessity of the evaluation of environmentally-friendly traffic operations strategies becomes obvious, the characteristics of fuel consumption models should be comprehended in advance. This study selected three fuel consumption models developed in Korea and another three models widely used in North America, and compared their applicabilities. Specifically, the national institute of environmental research (NIER) drive modes and the VISSIM software were utilized to model various driving patterns, and their fuel consumptions were estimated using the fuel consumption models. Based on the results, all the models showed the similar results in the analysis of the most fuel efficient cruising speed. On the other hand, caution should be taken when using the KR-1 and KR-2 models in microscopic analyses because they are not sensitive to instantaneous power requirements of vehicles.

Recently green house gas emission problem has been issued because $CO_2$ emission is known to cause global warming. Hence, introduces more stringent emission and fuel economy requirements in various countries, including Korea. In this research, $CO_2$ emission factor characteristics of in-use cars, which are the most dominant vehicle type in Korea, were studied, and 129 gasoline vehicles, 100 diesel vehicles, and 34 LPG vehicles were tested on a chassis dynamometer. In the tests, CO and $CO_2$ emissions as well as fuel reduction rates weremeasured. The tests were conducted in the CVS-75 mode, which has been considered for developing emission factors for regulating emissions from light-duty vehicles in Korea. Through experiments, correlations among displacement, fuel consumption efficiency, fuel type, mileage, driving pattern, and $CO_2$ emission were investigated.
A new type of composite insulated concrete sandwich wall (ICS-wall), which is composed of a triangle truss steel wire network, an insulating layer, and internal and external concrete layers, is proposed. To study the mechanical properties of this new ICS-wall, tensile, compression, and shearing tests were performed on 22 specimens and tensile strength and corrosion resistance tests on 6 triangle truss joints. The variables in these tests mainly include the insulating plate material, the thickness of the insulating plate, the vertical distance of the triangle truss framework, the triangle truss layout, and the connecting mode between the triangle truss and wall and the material of the triangle truss. Moreover, the failure mode, mechanical properties, and bearing capacity of the wall under tensile, shearing, and compression conditions were analyzed. Research results demonstrate that the concrete and insulating layer of the ICS-wall are pulling out, which is the main failure mode under tensile conditions. The ICS-wall, which uses a graphite polystyrene plate as the insulating layer, shows better tensile properties than the wall with an ordinary polystyrene plate. The tensile strength and bearing capacity of the wall can be improved effectively by strengthening the triangle truss connection and shortening the vertical distances of the triangle truss. The compression capacity of the wall is mainly determined by the compression capacity of concrete, and the bonding strength between the wall and the insulating plate is the main influencing factor of the shearing capacity of the wall. According to the tensile strength and corrosion resistance tests of Austenitic stainless steel, the bearing capacity of the triangle truss does not decrease after corrosion, indicating good corrosion resistance.
Modern freight transport pursues not only the reduction of logistic costs but also aims at green logistics and efficient shipments. In order to accomplish these goals, various policies regarding the multimodal shipment and stopover to logistic facilities have widely been made. Such situation requires changes in existing methods for analyzing freight demand. However, the reality is that a reliable freight demand forecast is limited, since in the transport research field there is no robust freight demand model that can accommodate transshipments at logistic facilities. This study suggested a novel method to analyze freight demand, which can consider transshipments in multi-modal networks. Also, the applicability of this method was discussed through an example test.
This study aims to analyze the accidents of green mode bicycle. In pursuing the above, this study gave special emphasis on modeling the bicycle accidents reflecting the regional characteristics. The main results are as follows. First, the null hypotheses that the number of accident and ratio of serious injury and fatality (FSI) were the same over regions were rejected. Second, as the common variables, the number of bicycle was judged to have positive (+) impact to the accidents and the bicycle using ratio was inferred to increase the ratio of FSI. Third, the elderly population ratio among 3 factors which gave impact to the accidents of Si_A (city-county consolidation) was concluded to have the greatest elasticity. The developed area ratio between 2 factors in Si_B (city which is not consolidated) was, however, estimated to have the higher elasticity. Fourth, the number of car registration among 5 accident factors of Gun (county) was analyzed to have the greatest elasticity. Finally, the commuting trip ratio among 7 accident factors of Gu (district) was judged to have the greatest elasticity. This study can be expected to give some implications to regional policy-making related to bicycle.

The purpose of this research is to clarify the relation between environmental consciousness and railway usage behavior. Author would locate this research on position of basic survey to promote railway use according to Low Carbon Green Growth policy in Korea. In this research, we would perform descriptive analysis using data of research on the actual condition of railway use in 2008, Daegu, and describe its relationship. In addition, we would suggest some idea about policy which can promote railway use. The order of railway choice behavior noticed in clustering of environmental consciousness was cooperative behavior type, middle type and non-cooperative behavior type. It suggests that environmental consciousness has effect on transportation choice behavior. Specially, railway improvement isn't enough to promote railway use. And, it is advisable to carry out the improvement in such a way that it may encourage the nation to move from the current environmental consciousness stage to cooperative behavior. Moreover, we assumed Binary Probit(BP) model using SP data of time or condition of transportation expense compared with passenger car and bus. As the results, modified likelihood ratio of two BP models is favorable variables. And it occurred that mode was transferred from passenger car to railway when it showed higher social environment consciousness and low selfish environment consciousness, because t-statistic which represents selfish environment consciousness showed significance in 95% confidence level. That is, it can be described that environment consciousness affect on the intention of railway use.

Korea Train Express (KTX) is now leading the train industry, heralding a new renaissance of transportation and changing the old construction-oriented policy to one based on customers' needs that intends to offer better service in speed, convenience, and space creation around the railroad stations. These new policies aims to provide differentiated 'utility' based services, with the commitment to environmentally friendly 'green growth'. Nevertheless, the new policy has the unspecified 'public' as its target and tends to change bus users to train users rather than automobile users to train users. Furthermore, due to the heavy dependence on automobiles, there exists the definite limit of the new policy to attract the automobile users to train services. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the car dependence in Seoul metropolitan area. Based on the analysis using structure equation modeling, it can be described that environment consciousness and public satisfaction level affect on the car dependence. Author concludes that emotional marketing needs to go with utility marketing and Incentive marketing to weaken the heavy dependence on automobiles and to successfully prompt the change to train services.

To solve the problems of traffic congestion, air pollution and energy derived from increased car consumption, people are in recognition of the importance of green mode, bicycle. Bicycle use rate in Busan is lower due to the terrain and limited public transportation accessibility. Therefore, geographical conditions and use activation should be initially considered in the bicycle route planning. We calculated a weight using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process), make a database using GIS tool and deduced the routes applying calculated weight in this study. The result of this study, We could get reliable data as inspecting consistency of the research. Routes are deducted in the place where using demand is higher than arbitrarily chosen routes. Therefore, the route planning through AHP is expected to be utilized in area-specialty-reflected route planning or bicycle road alternatives testing.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about significant social changes through government prevention and control measures, changes in people's risk perceptions, and lifestyle changes. In response, urban inhabitants changed their behaviors significantly, including their preferences for transportation modes and urban spaces in response to government quarantine policies and concerns over the potential risk of infection in urban spaces. These changes may have long-lasting effects on urban spaces beyond the COVID-19 pandemic or they may evolve and develop new forms. Therefore, this study aims to explore the potential for urban spaces to adapt to the present and future pandemics by examining changes in urban residents' preferences in travel modes and urban space use due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study found that overall preferences for travel modes and urban spaces significantly differ between the pre-pandemic, pandemic, and post-pandemic periods. During the pandemic, preferences for travel modes and urban spaces has decreased, except for privately owned vehicles and green spaces, which are perceived to be safe from transmission, show more favorable than others. Post-pandemic preferences for travel modes and urban spaces are less favorable than pre-pandemic with urban spaces being five times less favorable than transportation. Although green spaces and medical facilities that were positively perceived during the pandemic are expected to return to the pre-pandemic preference level, other factors of urban spaces are facing a new-normal. The findings suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on urban residents' preferences for travel modes and urban space use. Understanding these changes is crucial for developing strategies to adapt to present and future pandemics and improve urban resilience.
