  • Due to a low efficiency of phosphor with large Stoke shift in Vacuum Ultra Violet (VUV) excitation environment, new PDP phosphors which can be excited in UV excitation environment need to be developed. In this study, $Zn_2SiO_4:Tb$ phosphor was synthesized by solid-state reaction method at $1300^{\circ}C$ with varying Tb concentration, and its cross relaxation effect was observed by Photoluminescence (PL) measurement. In order to decrease $^5D_3{\to}7F_j$ transition with blue emission in $Zn_2SiO_4:Tb$ phosphor, Dy, co-activator element, was added to $Zn_2SiO_4:Tb$ phosphor. In 254nm excitation environment, broad-emission peak was observed around 524nm, green emission.

  • Synthesis and characterization of pigments by using $Fe_2O_3,\;CoO,\;Cr_2O_3\;and\;MnO_2$ were undertaken. The resulting pigments were characterized by using XRD, SEM, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The color of glazed tiles containing 6 wt% pigment changed from dark green to black depending on the compositions of used materials. Pigments were calcined with mixed materials at $1350^{\circ}C$, and the dark green and dark brown color were obtained. Pigments were used to determine possible interactions between a pigment and a glaze.

  • The purpose of this study was first, to examine the causes for the recent acceleration in the increase of textile/apparel waste and the current practices for reducing waste in the global textile and apparel industry; and second, to explore the influence of sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends. Extensive literature on sustainable apparel and sustainable and socially responsible practices by global textile and apparel firms was reviewed in conducting this research. First, an accelerated fashion diffosion speed due to fast fashion was focused on as a cause for the increase in textile/apparel waste whereas mass customization was focused on as a potential solution for reducing waste. Then, the influence of the social trend toward sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends was discussed, particularly the trends toward green products and recycled fashion, the trend against using real for or leather, and minimum-fabric-waste fashion in design and product development. This study furthers consumers' understanding of sustainability and social responsibility related to fashion trends and hopefully increases their consciousness in becoming socially responsible consumers. This study will also contribute to better decision-making in apparel and textile firms to produce sustainable fashion products.

  • Cobalt-immobilized SBA-15 6a-c was synthesized from alkyne-attached SBA 5a-c by the reaction with $Co_2(CO)_8$ in toluene. Alkyne group was introduced into amino SBA-15 (4) by imine-linkage or substitution with propargyl bromide to afford iminoalkyne 5a and aminoalkyne 5b, respectively. Meanwhile, alkyne 5c was prepared in one-step by reacting triethoxysilyl hexyne with SBA-15. Dicobalt-complexes 6a-c were characterized by means of FT-IR, solid-state NMR and elemental analysis.

  • In this paper, we used E-J constitutive law and H-formulation to calculate magnetic field profile, current density, and magnetization of high temperature superconductor (HTS) placed in time varying applied magnetic field. Finite element method (FEM)-based software, Comsol Multiphysics 3.5a, was employed to simulate 2-dimensional model of a superconducting thin strip. The numerical results based on Kim's critical state model were compared with the case of strip in a perpendicular field in the Brandt's paper as well as experimental data observed by Scanning Hall Probe and SQUID.

  • The fractionation of green juice could be one of the ways to treat the green juice for saving the bio re-sources by using the basic processes of protein coagulation and separating juice coagulation into protein paste and brown juice and storing the final products. The fractionation of Chinese cabbage juice can be accomplished by applying the combine method of the formic acid with rate of 0.3% and the propionic acid with rate of 0.1 % added 4 hours later in the juice with maximum recovery of protein coagulation. The separation of coagulation into the protein paste and the brown juice completed in 6.5 hours by set up method in a special designed storage. The protein paste could be stored safely for 30days in anaerobic condition.

  • [ $Sr_xCa_{(1-x)}TiO_3$ ] red phosphors doped with Pr(0.13 mol%) and Al(0.23 mol%) were synthesized by solid state reaction method. Change of crystal structure occurred in $Sr_xCa_{(1-x)}TiO_3:Pr,Al$ phosphors with increasing value of x. Green and red luminescence were observed from $SrTiO_3:Pr,Al$ phosphors at low temperature. However, only red luminescence in the case of $CaTiO_3:Pr,Al$ phosphors was measured at low temperature. The main cause of green luminescence was explained by the bandgap reduction.

  • The present paper is concerned at investigating the effect of hydrostatic initial stress, gravity and magnetic field in fiber-reinforced thermoelastic solid, with variable thermal conductivity. The formulation of the problem applied in the context of the three-phase-lag model, Green-Naghdi theory with energy dissipation, as well as coupled theory. The exact expressions of the considered variables by using state-space approaches are obtained. Comparisons are performed in the absence and presence of the magnetic field as well as gravity. Also, a comparison was made in the three theories in the absence and presence of variable thermal conductivity as well as hydrostatic initial stress. The study finds applications in composite engineering, geology, seismology, control system and acoustics, exploration of valuable materials beneath the earth's surface.

  • Fatty acid oxidation (FAO) defects cause abnormal lipid accumulation in various tissues, which provides an opportunity to uncover novel genes that are involved in lipid metabolism. During a gene expression study in the riboflavin deficient induced FAO disorder in the chicken, we discovered the dramatic increase in mRNA levels of an uncharacterized gene, ANKRD9. No functions have been ascribed to ANKRD9 and its orthologs, although their sequences are well conserved among vertebrates. To provide insight into the function of ANKRD9, the expression of ANKRD9 mRNA in lipidperturbed paradigms was examined. The hepatic mRNA level of ANKRD9 was repressed by thyroid hormone ($T_3$) and fasting, elevated by re-feeding upon fasting. However, ANKRD9 mRNA level is reduced in response to apoptosis. Transient transfection assay with green fluorescent protein tagged- ANKRD9 showed that this protein is localized within the cytoplasm. These findings point to the possibility that ANKRD9 is involved in intracellular lipid accumulation.
