  • The Mission Analysis and Planning System (MAPS) has been developed for a low earth orbiting remote sensing satellite, Korea Multipurpose Satellite-I (KOMPSAT-I), to monitor and control the orbit and the attitude as well as to generate mission timelines and command plans. The MAPS has been designed using a top-down approach and modular programming method to ensure flexibility in modification and expansion of the system. Furthermore, a graphical user interface has been adopted to ensure friendliness. Design, Implementation, and testing of the KOMPSAT is discussed in this paper.

  • Electrical Designs for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) has undergone a change recently with the advent of the sub-wavelength lithography. The optical projection with 193 nm wavelength has been further extended with the use of immersion and other techniques. The competing trends for printing smaller design features have been discussed in this paper with the discussion of the electrical layout analysis to find unfriendly design features. The early knowledge of the unfriendly design features allows remedial actions in time for better yield on the wafer. There are existing standard design qualification criteria being used in the design and fabrication community, but they seem to be insufficient to guarantee defect free designs. This paper proposes an integrated approach for screening the layout with multiple aspects: layout geometry based, graphical analysis and process model based verification. The results have been discussed with few example design features from the 28nm design layout.

  • This paper presents a workflow validation method for data-intensive graphical workflow models using real-time workflow tracing mode on data-intensive workflow designer. In order to model and validate workflows, we try to divide as modes have editable mode and tracing mode on data-intensive workflow designer. We could design data-intensive workflow using drag and drop in editable-mode, otherwise we could not design but view and trace workflow model in tracing mode. We would like to focus on tracing-mode for workflow validation, and describe how to use workflow tracing on data-intensive workflow model designer. Especially, it is support data centered operation about control logics and exchange variables on workflow runtime for workflow tracing.

  • The mathematical aspects of Dufour and Soret phenomena on the peristalsis of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Jeffrey liquid in a symmetric channel are presented. Fluid viscosity is taken variably. Lubrication approach has been followed. Results for the velocity, temperature, and concentration are constructed and explored for the emerging parameters entering into the present problem. The plotted quantities lead to comparative study between the constant and variable viscosities fluids. Graphical results indicate that for non-Newtonian materials, pressure gradient is maximum, whereas pressure gradient is slowed down for variable viscosity. Also both velocity and temperature in the case of variable viscosity are at maximum when compared with results for constant viscosity.

  • Marketing decision support systems rely on an underlying enterprise information infrastructure. In traditional business situations, a limited number of product lines and markets divided into large chunks were adequately served by existing management information systems. With the advent of an increasingly segmented focus on niche markets and individual customers, the demand for market information has grown exponentially. The practical solutions offered by such data warehousing tools as OLAP and data mining directly address this need, allowing organizations to discover new niches. Marketing decision support systems built on these foundations provide organizations with new avenues for creating specifically targeted marketing strategies and promotional campaigns. The contribution of this article lies in introducing a graphical framework for data warehousing applications. Based on prior research, the framework links data warehousing and database marketing. To illustrate the effectiveness of this approach, three case examples of successful database marketing conclude the paper.

  • A CAI system is developed to support the Instruction of an aircraft conceptual design for aeronautical engineering students. Three system concepts are proposed and an Object-Oriented approach is applied to construct the system. The system has three major functions to perform a conceptual design: (1) the system stores modular data and empirical formulas used for a wide range of aircraft design tasks from light aircraft to long range airliners. (2) Implementation of modules by message passing makes it easy to realize the various design tasks required for different design requirements. (3) The system allows users to study trade-off among the requirements. The system has a graphical user Interface which allows users to communicate with the system interactively. The effectiveness of the system Is demonstrated through some case studies.

  • Several studies have bee down on the work of dynamic graphical methods for regression diagnostics. The main propose of the methods were to investigate (1) the effects of change of data, or (2) the effects of change of regression coefficients on the regression models. But, by contrast, we can also investigate the effects of change of regression residuals on the regression model. This method can be used in fitting better a certain set of observations to a regression model than the other observations. Our research team approaches regression diagnostics by using dynamic graphics (REDS), and we introduce REDS in this thesis.

  • Despite of the rich literature in discriminant analysis, this complicated subject remains much to be explored. In this article, we study the theoretical foundation that supports Fisher's linear discriminant analysis (LDA) by setting up the classification problem under the dimension reduction framework as in Li(1991) for introducing sliced inverse regression(SIR). Through the connection between SIR and LDA, our theory helps identify sources of strength and weakness in using CRIMCOORDS(Gnanadesikan 1977) as a graphical tool for displaying group separation patterns. This connection also leads to several ways of generalizing LDA for better exploration and exploitation of nonlinear data patterns.

  • Advances in computer and sensor technology have made it possible to obtain superlarge manufacturing process data in real time, letting us to extract meaningful information from these superlarge data sets. We propose a systematic data analysis procedure which field engineers can apply easily to manufacture quality products. The procedure consists of data cleaning and data analysis stages. Data cleaning stage is to construct a database suitable for statistical analysis from the original superlarge manufacturing process data. In the data analysis stage, we suggest a graphical easy-to-implement approach to extract practical information from the cleaned database. This study will help manufacturing companies to achieve six sigma quality.

  • Various services are developed from advancement of satellite imagery methodologies and internet infrastructure expansions. However, most of these services still rely upon low-resolution satellite images combined with DEM models. In this paper, we have implemented the raw data processing modules and other modules that transfer and render high-spatial resolution satellite images for efficient streaming services in web environments. By utilizing the Bukhan-mountain data as a pilot study, the paper has proposed the efficient approach to solve graphical problems in real time processing the large geographical area.
