The number of grandparents who have responsibility for raising their grandchildren is growing. The present study examines the extent of this phenomenon and some of the issues these grandparents face in surrogate parenting. The sample consists of 69 grandparents(63 grandmothers and 6 grandfathers) of grandchildren who have lived with them at least 6 months without their parents. The grandparents raising grandchildren reported that caregiving bought negative changes in relations with their own children, economic situation and health condition. They concerned most about the issue of good mannered behavior of grandchildren and making good friends and needed social supports in terms of house cleaning and cooking and transportation for after school activities. Caregiver burden was related to the number of family members, the degrees of life changes, economic hardship due to caregiving, grandchildren's school performance and the relations with granparents' own children.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the parenting stress, efficacy, and behaviors of Korean and Yanbian Korean-Chinese grandfamilies in which grandparents have sole responsibility for raising their grandchildren. Our sample consists of 74 grandparents and their grandchildren (43 Korean and 31 Yanbian Korean-Chinese). The data were analyzed through crosstabs analysis, 1-test, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that there are some differences based on the gender of grandparents, educational level, the reason for taking care of the grandchildren, and the grandparents' relationship with grandchildren between two ethnic groups. The results also show that parenting stress is higher for Korean grandparents' and parenting efficacy is lower than Yanbian Korean-Chinese. Also, Yanbian Korean-Chinese grandparents are higher in warmth and acceptance and lower in rejected and controlled parenting behaviors than Korean grandparents. There are strong relationships between parenting stress and parenting efficacy and between parenting behaviors and parenting stress and parenting efficacy for Korean grandparents, but not for Yanbian Korean-Chinese.

본 연구는 손자녀를 대상으로 가족돌봄을 제공하는 조부모의 자본이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 국민노후보장패널 8차 본조사 자료를 이용하였다. 연구 결과, 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 자본의 영향력이 20.1%로 나타났다. 조부모의 자본 중 가계 총소득과 건강상태가 삶의 만족도에 유의한 정(+)적인 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 손자녀에게 가족돌봄을 제공하는 조부모의 가계 총소득이 많을수록, 건강상태가 좋을수록 삶의 만족도가 높게 나타났다. 반면에 돌봄시간은 삶의 만족도에 부(-)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났는데 이는 손자녀를 돌보는 시간이 길수록 조부모의 삶의 만족도가 낮음을 의미한다. 이와 같은 결과는 조부모의 손자녀 돌봄 가능성이 증가하는 요즘에 조부모의 삶의 만족도의 영향 요인을 시사하며, 가계 총소득, 건강상태와 돌봄시간이 주요 변수임을 알 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 손자녀를 돌보는 조부모의 삶의 만족도를 증가시키기 위한 방안을 제시하였다.

The purpose of His research was to investigate the effect of grandchildren's solidarity with their grandparents on their caring attitude for the elderly. The participants were 311 college students in Chollabuk-Do province. Such statistical methods as factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, t-Test, pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed for this research. The results showed that the solidarity with grandparents was significantly different according to the college grade, birth order, mother's and grandparents' educational levels, economic status of grandparent, relationship with parents, and grandparents' ages. It was also found that there were significant differences in the levels of grandchildren's caring attitude for the elderly according to the college grade, occupational status of mother, relationship with parent, parents' educational levels, and family atmosphere. Finally, multiple regression analysis results indicated that grandchildren's caring attitude for the elderly was significantly influenced by grandchildren's affectional and contact solidarity with grandparents, relationship with parent, and grandparents' economic status.

본 연구는 손자녀 양육 조부모와 그들의 자녀 사이에서 손자녀 양육으로부터 비롯되는 갈등 요인을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 제3차 국민노후보장패널자료를 분석 데이터로 사용하여 손자녀 양육 조부모와 그들의 성인 자녀와의 갈등에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인을 손자녀 양육 조부모의 인구사회학적 요인과 경제적 요인, 돌봄 관련 요인, 건강 요인, 가족관계 요인을 중심으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 조부모가 남성일수록, 연령이 높을수록, 학력이 높을수록, 종교가 없을수록, 비취업자인 경우에 자녀와의 갈등이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 조부모의 근로소득과 금융소득이 없는 경우, 사적이전소득이 있을 경우, 즉 경제적으로 어려운 경우에 자녀와의 갈등이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 손자녀의 연령이 낮을수록, 손자녀 양육 대가가 없는 경우, 손자녀 양육으로 인해 근로나 소득활동을 중단 또는 단축한 경우에 자녀와의 갈등이 높았으며, 조부모의 신체적 건강상태가 좋을수록, 정신적 건강상태가 나쁠수록 자녀와의 갈등이 높았다. 마지막으로 조부모의 가족관계 만족도와 배우자관계 만족도가 낮을수록, 자녀와의 관계 만족도가 높을수록 자녀와의 갈등이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 자식을 위해 대가 없이 희생하는 전통노인과는 다른 양상으로서 손자녀 양육 대가 부재와 갈등에 대한 이해가 필요함을 시사한다.

본 연구의 목적은 다른 노인가구 유형과의 비교를 통해 그간 노인빈곤 이슈로부터 배제되어 있던 '조손가구'의 소득구성원, 빈곤율, 빈곤동태, 빈곤가구주 특성 및 공·사적 이전소득의 빈곤감소 효과를 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 제1차(2005년)와 제2차(2007) 『국민노후보장패널 학술대회용 자료(KReIS)』를 이용하여, LIS의 소득 정의 재구성에 따라 각각의 소득구성원이 추가되었을 때의 빈곤감소효과를 파악하였다. 분석 결과, 2006년을 기준으로 조손가구는 다른 가구유형에 비해 총소득이 가장 적었고, 소득수준은 자녀동거가구의 약 1/4 수준이었다. 또한 다른 가구유형의 근로소득이 시계열적으로 모두 증가하고 있지만, 조손가구는 유일하게 감소하고 있었다. 그리고 중위소득의 1/2을 적용하여 빈곤율을 측정한 결과, 조손가구는 약 10가구 중 3가구가 빈곤상태에 있었고, 가장 빈곤한 가구유형이었다. 사적이전소득과 공적이전소득의 총 빈곤감소 효과를 본 결과, 이전소득이 추가된 후 10가구 중 약 4가구가 빈곤에서 탈출하는 효과를 보였다. 또한 조손가구는 독거노인가구에 비해 공적이전소득의 효과가 상대적으로 큰 반면, 독거노인가구는 조손가구에 비해 사적이전소득의 빈곤감소 효과가 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 공적이전소득의 빈곤감소효과가 2004년에 비해 2006년의 경우 더 낮아지는 것으로 나타나, 공적이전소득보장에 대한 기능을 강화해 나가야 할 것이다. 그간 노인빈곤가구로 독거노인가구가 대표되어 왔으나, 조손가구도 독거노인가구만큼 빈곤한 상황이라는 것은 노인빈곤 이슈에서 조손가구가 배제되지 않아야 하며, 독거노인가구처럼 조손가구를 위한 맞춤형 소득보장 정책이 절실히 요청됨을 시사한다.

최근 양육스트레스에 따른 조손가족 조부모의 우울이 높아지면서 조부모의 양육스트레스를 조절하기 위한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 조손가족 조부모의 양육스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향에 있어 사회적 지지와 대처행동을 조절변수로 설정하여 이들의 조절효과를 파악하고자 했다. 이를 위해 전국 조손가족 중 사회복지서비스를 제공받고 있는 조부모 369명을 대상으로 조사했고, 그 중 334명의 조사결과를 토대로 SPSS 19.0 프로그램을 활용한 위계적 회귀분석과 구조방정식모형을 이용한 다집단분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 양육스트레스, 우울, 사회적 지지, 그리고 대처행동 간에 양육스트레스가 높을수록 우울이 높고, 사회적 지지가 높을수록 양육스트레스가 낮은 관계가 있었다. 또 양육스트레스가 높을수록 대처행동 중 신앙의 의지, 부정적 감정표출, 수동적 회피의 정도가 높은 관계가 있었고, 문제 재정립은 낮은 관계가 있었다. 둘째, 사회적 지지 중 정서적 지지, 정보적 지지, 물질적 지지는 양육스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 효과가 있었다. 그러나 평가적 지지는 양육스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 데는 효과가 없었다. 셋째, 대처행동 중 신앙의지, 낮은 수동적 회피는 양육스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 효과가 있었다. 그러나 문제 재정립은 양육스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 데는 효과가 없었다. 한편, 감정표출은 양육스트레스와의 상호작용에서 조절효과를 설명하는데 무의미한 결과가 나왔다. 이를 통해 조손가족 조부모의 양육스트레스와 우울 간 사회적 지지와 대처행동의 조절효과를 높일 수 있는 사회복지실천적 함의를 도출하였다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine factors affecting quality of life among grandparents raising their grandchildren. Methods: This study carried out a secondary analysis of data from the 2014 Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) and Statistics Korea. Data collected from 224 grandparents who reported raising their grandchildren were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation coefficient, and multilevel regression analysis. Results: The mean score of the participants' quality of life was 62.63. Significant predictors of quality of life of the grandparents included subjective health status, last year's total house income, number of last year's travels, frequency of last year's movie seeing, and number of children's parks per 100,000 population. Conclusion: These results suggest that public health nurses in improving quality of life of grandparents focus on children's parks and formal social supports as community factors as well as regular exercise as an individual factor in order to be more effective.

Since the 1990s there have been increasing concerns about coresident grandparents and their children in the U.S. This study focused on the coresident grandparents and grandchildren, categorized into 6 household structures, and examined whether household structure with sociodemographic variables affected economic well-being. The data from the University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study (HRS) were used, and frequencies, $x^2$ tests, ANOVA, and logistic regression analysis were conducted by SPSS Windows. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in the yearly household income among the 6 household structures. In addition, household structure affected the economic well-being. Especially, grandchildren in grandmother only, some parents present families, and in grandmother only, no parent families were more likely to be poor than those in both grandparents.

This study examined adolescents'behavioral attitude and perception toward the elderly relating to the experiences with their grandparents. In addition, the study explored the relations between perception and behavioral attitude toward the elderly The numbers of sample are 1,477 adolescents who were 5th grade of elementary, 2nd grade of both middle and high school. They answered three different questionnaires relating to perception and behavioral attitude toward the elderly including positive perception, image and perspectives toward the elderly; behavioral attitude toward the elderly; and biases toward the elderly. Adolescents'relationship with their grandparents was assessed by questioning about present and past experiences of co-living with grandparents, living distance to grandparents, frequencies of visits and phone calls between grandparents and adolescents, and others. The results of the study are summarized as follows: ( 1 ) Adolescents'behavioral attitude and perception toward the elderly tends to be positive, (2) Adolescents'sex and grades significantly affect the perception and behavioral attitude toward the elderly, (3) The closer to the grandparents adolescents are, the more positive attitude and perception to the elderly; (4) Adolescents'perception better explains their behavioral attitude toward the elderly.
