In this paper, three-dimensional (3D) elasticity theory in conjunction with nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) is developed for mechanical analysis of anisotropic nanoparticles. The present model incorporates two scale coefficients to examine the mechanical characteristics much accurately. All the elastic constants are considered and assumed to be the functions of (r, ${\theta}$, ${\varphi}$), so all kind of anisotropic structures can be modeled. Moreover, all types of functionally graded spherical structures can be investigated. To justify our model, our results for the radial vibration of spherical nanoparticles are compared with experimental results available in the literature and great agreement is achieved. Next, several examples of the radial vibration and wave propagation in spherical nanoparticles including nonlocal strain gradient parameters are presented for more than 10 different anisotropic nanoparticles. From the best knowledge of authors, it is the first time that 3D elasticity theory and NSGT are used together with no approximation to derive the governing equations in the spherical coordinate. Moreover, up to now, the NSGT has not been used for spherical anisotropic nanoparticles. It is also the first time that all the 36 elastic constants as functions of (r, ${\theta}$, ${\varphi}$) are considered for anisotropic and functionally graded nanostructures including size effects. According to the lack of any common approximations in the displacement field or in elastic constant, present theory can be assumed as a benchmark for future works.

A size-dependent novel hyperbolic shear deformation theory of simply supported functionally graded beams is presented in the frame work of the non-local strain gradient theory, in which the stress accounts for only the nonlocal strain gradients stress field. The thickness stretching effect (${\varepsilon}_z{\neq}0$) is also considered here. Elastic coefficients and length scale parameter are assumed to vary in the thickness direction of functionally graded beams according to power-law form. The governing equations are derived using the Hamilton principle. The closed-form solutions for exact critical buckling loads of nonlocal strain gradient functionally graded beams are obtained using Navier's method. The derived results are compared with those of strain gradient theory.
In this paper, the static behavior of bi-directional functionally graded (FG) non-uniform thickness circular plate resting on quadratically gradient elastic foundations (Winkler-Pasternak type) subjected to axisymmetric transverse and in-plane shear loads is carried out by using state-space and differential quadrature methods. The governing state equations are derived based on 3D theory of elasticity, and assuming the material properties of the plate except the Poisson's ratio varies continuously throughout the thickness and radius directions in accordance with the exponential and power law distributions. The stresses and displacements distribution are obtained by solving state equations. The effects of foundation stiffnesses, material heterogeneity indices, geometric parameters and loads ratio on the deformation and stress distributions of the FG circular plate are investigated in numerical examples. The results are reported for the first time and the new results can be used as a benchmark solution for future researches.
In this article the frequency response of magneto-flexo-electric rotary porous (MFERP) nanobeams subjected to thermal loads has been investigated through nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory. A quasi-3D beam model beam theory is used for the expositions of the displacement components. With the aid of Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of MFERP nanobeams are obtained. Further, administrating an analytical solution the frequency problem of MFERP nanobeams are solved. In addition the numerical examples are also provided to evaluate the effect of nonlocal strain gradient parameter, hygro thermo environment, flexoelectric effect, in-plane magnet field, volume fraction of porosity and angular velocity on the dimensionless eigen frequency.
An exponentially accurate nonconforming spectral element method for elasticity systems with discontinuities in the coefficients and the flux across the interface is proposed in this paper. The method is least-squares spectral element method. The jump in the flux across the interface is incorporated (in appropriate Sobolev norm) in the functional to be minimized. The interface is resolved exactly using blending elements. The solution is obtained by the preconditioned conjugate gradient method. The numerical solution for different examples with discontinuous coefficients and non-homogeneous jump in the flux across the interface are presented to show the efficiency of the proposed method.
In this study, the influences of triaxial magnetic field on the wave propagation behavior of anisotropic nanoplates are studied. In order to include small scale effects, nonlocal strain gradient theory has been implemented. To study the nanoplate as a continuum model, the three-dimensional elasticity theory is adopted in Cartesian coordinate. In our study, all the elastic constants are considered and assumed to be the functions of (x, y, z), so all kind of anisotropic structures such as hexagonal and trigonal materials can be modeled, too. Moreover, all types of functionally graded structures can be investigated. eigenvalue method is employed and analytical solutions for the wave propagation are obtained. To justify our methodology, our results for the wave propagation of isotropic nanoplates are compared with the results available in the literature and great agreement is achieved. Five different types of anisotropic structures are investigated in present paper and then the influences of wave number, material properties, nonlocal and gradient parameter and uniaxial, biaxial and triaxial magnetic field on the wave propagation analysis of anisotropic nanoplates are presented. From the best knowledge of authors, it is the first time that three-dimensional elasticity theory and nonlocal strain gradient theory are used together with no approximation to derive the governing equations. Moreover, up to now, the effects of triaxial magnetic field have not been studied with considering size effects in nanoplates. According to the lack of any common approximations in the displacement field or in elastic constant, present theory has the potential to be used as a bench mark for future works.
This work is concerned with transverse vibrations of axially traveling nanobeams including strain gradient and thermal effects. The strain gradient elasticity theory and the temperature field are taken into consideration. A new higher-order differential equation of motion is derived from the variational principle and the corresponding higher-order non-classical boundary conditions including simple, clamped, cantilevered supports and their higher-order "offspring" are established. Effects of strain gradient nanoscale parameter, temperature change, shape parameter and axial traction on the natural frequencies are presented and discussed through some numerical examples. It is concluded that the factors mentioned above significantly influence the dynamic behaviors of an axially traveling nanobeam. In particular, the strain gradient effect tends to induce higher vibration frequencies as compared to an axially traveling macro beams based on the classical vibration theory without strain gradient effect.

This paper is concerned with the static analysis of variable thickness of two directional functionally graded porous materials (FGPM) circular plate resting on a gradient hybrid foundation (Horvath-Colasanti type) with friction force and subjected to compound mechanical loads (e.g., transverse, in-plane shear traction and concentrated force at the center of the plate). The governing state equations are derived in terms of displacements based on the 3D theory of elasticity, assuming the elastic coefficients of the plate material except the Poisson's ratio varying continuously throughout the thickness and radial directions according to an exponential function. These equations are solved semi-analytically by employing the state space method (SSM) and one-dimensional differential quadrature (DQ) rule to obtain the displacements and stress components of the FGPM plate. The effect of concentrated force at the center of the plate is approximated with the shear force, uniformly distributed over the inner boundary of a FGPM annular plate. In addition to verification study and convergence analysis, numerical results are displayed to show the effect of material heterogeneity indices, foundation stiffness coefficients, foundation gradient indices, loads ratio, thickness to radius ratio, compressibility, porosity and friction coefficient of the foundation on the static behavior of the plate. Finally, the responses of FG and FG porous material circular plates to compound mechanical loads are compared.

This article aims to investigate the size dependent bending behavior of perforated nanobeams incorporating the nonlocal and the microstructure effects based on the nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory (NSGET). Shear deformation effect due to cutout process is studied by using Timoshenko beams theory. Closed formulas for the equivalent geometrical characteristics of regularly squared cutout shape are derived. The governing equations of motion considering the nonlocal and microstructure effects are derived in comprehensive procedure and nonclassical boundary conditions are presented. Analytical solution for the governing equations of motion is derived. The derived non-classical analytical solutions are verified by comparing the obtained results with the available results in the literature and good agreement is observed. Numerical results are obtained and discussed. Parametric studies are conducted to explore effects of perforation characteristics, the nonclassical material parameters, beam slenderness ratio as well as the boundary and loading conditions on the non-classical transverse bending behavior of cutout nanobeams. Results obtained are supportive for the design, analysis and manufacturing of such nanosized structural system.
This article presents strain gradient elasticity-based procedures for static bending, free vibration and buckling analyses of functionally graded rectangular micro-plates. The developed method allows consideration of smooth spatial variations of length scale parameters of strain gradient elasticity. Governing partial differential equations and boundary conditions are derived by following the variational approach and applying Hamilton's principle. Displacement field is expressed in a unified way to produce numerical results in accordance with Kirchhoff, Mindlin, and third order shear deformation theories. All material properties, including the length scale parameters, are assumed to be functions of the plate thickness coordinate in the derivations. Developed equations are solved numerically by means of differential quadrature method. Proposed procedures are verified through comparisons made to the results available in the literature for certain limiting cases. Further numerical results are provided to illustrate the effects of material and geometric parameters on bending, free vibrations, and buckling. The results generated by Kirchhoff and third order shear deformation theories are in very good agreement, whereas Mindlin plate theory slightly overestimates static deflection and underestimates natural frequency. A rise in the length scale parameter ratio, which identifies the degree of spatial variations, leads to a drop in dimensionless maximum deflection, and increases in dimensionless vibration frequency and buckling load. Size effect is shown to play a more significant role as the plate thickness becomes smaller compared to the length scale parameter. Numerical results indicate that consideration of length scale parameter variation is required for accurate modelling of graded rectangular micro-plates.
