The Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) is an electrochemical device to convert chemical energy of a fuel into electricity at temperatures from about 600 to $1000^{\circ}C$. The SOFC offers certain advantages over lower temperature fuel cells, notably its ability to use CO as a fuel rather than being poisoned by it, and high grade exhaust heat for combined heat and power, or combined cycle gas turbine applications. This paper reviews the operating principle, materials for different cell and stack components, cell designs, and applications of SOFCs. Among all designs of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs), the most progress has been achieved with the tubular design. However, the electrical resistance of tubular SOFCs is high, and specific power output $(W/cm^2)$ and volumetric power density $(W/cm^3)$ low. Planar SOFCs, in contrast, are capable of achieving very high power densities.
This research presents the method to decide proper locations for destressing of CWR using a non-destructive equipments to measure the longitudinal force(installation temperature) in CWR. The effect and necessity of destressing were analyzed by estimating changes of longitudinal force. The installation temperature was measured to find changes of longitudinal force in high speed and conventional lines before and after destressing or track maintenance at the locations where destressing was planed or where change of longitudinal force was expected during track maintenance. Past destressing was carried out within qualitative decision criteria. This research proposes the quantitative criteria to decide the priority order of the destressing locations reasonably by considering the difference of air temperature and stress free temperature during the track maintenances, the grade of ballast resistance force recovering and the length of destressing, etc.

Recently, quaternary titanium alloys of the system Ti-Nb-Ta-Zr received considerable research interest as potential implant materials because of their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, only few reported works were available on the corrosion behavior of such alloys. Hence, in the present work, electrochemical corrosion of Ti-35Nb-5Ta-7Zr alloy, which has been fabricated by arc melting and heat treatment, was studied in 0.9 wt% NaCl at $37\pm1^{\circ}C$, along with biomedical grade Ti-6Al-4V and CP-Ti. The phase and microstructure of the alloys were investigated employing XRD and SEM. The results of electrochemical studies indicated that the corrosion resistance of the quaternary alloy was inferior to that of Ti-6Al-4V and CP Ti.
This study determines the best composite grade to minimize the void of aggregate mixture based on the maximum density theory in an attempt to suggest a mix proportion method design for asphalt mixtures. Study results show that the grading curve with the maximum mass per unit capacity of each aggregate mixture satisfied the KS standards and the optimum AP content to meet the optimal asphalt mixture void rate of 4$\%$ was 5.7$\%$, less than the optimum AP content of 6.5$\%$ suggested in the Marshal mix proportion method design. At the same time, the asphalt mixture produced based upon the suggested mix proportion method had a flow value 17$\%$ lower than that of asphalt mixture produced according to the Marshal method, while its density was greater by 0.06$\~$0.09. This suggests that the introduced mix proportion method design helps to improve the shape flexibility and crack-resistance of asphalt concrete.
Reliability of PBGA(plastic ball grid array) package is weak compared with normal plastic packages. The low reliability is caused by low resistance to the popcorn cracking, which is generated by moisture absorption in PCB(prited circuit board). In this paper, plasma treatment process was used and we analyzed its effects to interface adhesion. The contents of C and Cl decrease after plasma treatment but those of O, Ca, N relatively increase. The plasma treatment improves the adhesion between EMC(epoxy molding compound) and PCB(solder mask). The grade of improvement was over 100% Max, which depends on the properties of EMC. The RMS(root mean square) roughness value of the solder mask surface increases to plasma treatment. There is little difference of adhesion in RF power and treatment time.
An experimental study was conducted for the effectiveness of steel-CFRP composite (CFRP laminates sandwiched between two steel strips) as stirrups in concrete beam to carry shearing force and comparison was made with conventional steel bar stirrups. A total numbers of 8 concrete beams were tested under four point loads. Each beam measured 1,600 mm long, 160 mm width and 240 mm depth. The beams were composed of same grade of concrete, with same amount of flexural steel but different shear reinforcements. The main variables include, type of stirrups (shape of stirrups and number of CFRP layers used in each stirrup) and number of stirrups used in shear spans. After getting on an excellent closeness between the values of ultimate shear resistance and ultimate tensile load of steel-CFRP stirrups, it could be concluded that the steel-CFRP stirrups represent the effective solution of premature failure of FRP stirrups at the bends.

Main issues in the automotive industry are the reduction of vehicle body weight for energy savings and improvement of crashworthiness for passenger safety. In order to address both these issues, there has recently been increasing application of galvannealed advance high strength steel (GA AHSS) sheets for automobiles. However, GA AHSS sheets have some surface defects such as coating bare spots due to the addition of solid-solution strengthening elements, which result in the deterioration of the galvannealing reaction. In this study, the effects of galvannealed manufacturing conditions on surface and mechanical properties, resistance spot weldability on a laboratory scale, and GA 980 MPa steel sheets produced by commercial continuous galvannealing line (CGL) were investigated.
Needs for the new technologies and cutting-edge Ultra Flowing Self-Compacting Concrete are emerging as the concrete structures are becoming bigger and more specialized recently. In North America and Europe, SCC, which has high resistance against flow ability and segregation, is being used as concrete material in applications such as precast and prestressed bridges, where reinforcing bars are overcrowdedly placed. In Korea, SCC has been utilized limitedly in building structures but its utilization should be expanded to engineering structures such as bridges. In this study, for the application in precast and prestressed bridges with overlycrowded reinforcing bars, USCC was mixed with admixtures to give a binary system and a ternary system according to the 1st grade rules by JSCE (Japan Society of Civil Engineers). Compressive strength and splitting tensile strength of the resulting USCCs were tested. Elastic modulus were compared with the values suggested in CEB-FIP code and ACI 318-05.
It is the study on the mechanical properties of the material when mixing hybrid fiber as steel and synthetic fiber to improve fire resistance and toughness of concrete. Finally, The purpose is to identify of mechanical properties of Hybrid Fiber-Reinforced Ultra High Strength Concrete such as flexural strength.
This work is concerned with the fabrication process and photo-response characteristics of Cd S/(p) Si solar cells. In order to fabricate the cell. low grade Si wafer has been used as an absorber and Cd S which works as a window material has been prepared by vacuum evaporation. Cd S thin film, as evaporated, is polycristal and resistance is very high but these properties are improved by annealing. The properties of the fabricated cells are found to depend largely on the transmittance of Cd S. The effects of Cd S thickness and annealing condition on the fill factor and efficiency of the cell are investigated quantitatively.
