Comparative Evaluation of Impervious Ratio between KNU and HKU Campus Using Google Earth (Google Earth를 이용한 경북대와 홍콩대 캠퍼스의 불투수율 비교평가)

  • The impervious ratio was frequently employed as a fundamental attribute will be used as a proxy of the total environmental burden in the urban area since it may contribute as much or more on a cumulative basis to the overall environmental condition. This research proposes a comparative evaluation framework in a more objective and Quantitative way for an impervious ratio in the university campus, using the Google Earth. Two university campuses (Kyungpook National University: KNU, Hong Kong University: HKUJ were selected as survey objectives in order to evaluate the potential of Google Earth in monitoring impervious conditions in the campus. The 61cm resolution of Quickbird data combined with digital map realistically identified the major type of impervious surface such as road, building and parking lots in the study area by large scale spatial precision. The impervious zones with persistently high road density and parking space were specifically identified over the KNU campus while the HKC campus was intensively covered by tree, resulting in almost twice (31%). as compared to KNU (18.4%), The methods of characterizing impervious surface used in this study are easily replicable using data that are primarily publicly available, and therefore the collection of impervious coverage data via Google Earth is, therefore, proposed as a practical alternative.

  • This study investigated the cadastral non-coincidence between real land using and cadastral book using Google Earth Web for difficult area to access that is more efficient method compared with field survey for saving time and money. An reading error has occurred eight parcels about dry field and paddy field but this method is more powerful in case of a danger area of steep, unregistered cemeteries of cadastral book using Google Earth Web of image interpretation that method takes 1 day, the accuracy is 96% and improved 20% more than field survey takes 5 days by 40 parcels. It's possible to reduce the manpower, time and budget could be minimized. In particular, it is need to land alteration of forests and fields category that finds 47 locations a burial ground of non register cadastre book. Google Earth Web method is enabling easy visual analysis of the future land administration of local governments to improving the reliability of temporal and economic costs can be very useful to reduce.

Analysis and Estimation for Market Share of Biologics based on Google Trends Big Data (구글 트렌드 빅데이터를 통한 바이오의약품의 시장 점유율 분석과 추정)

  • Google Trends is a useful tool not only for setting search periods, but also for providing search volume to specific countries, regions, and cities. Extant research showed that the big data from Google Trends could be used for an on-line market analysis of opinion sensitive products instead of an on-site survey. This study investigated the market share of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibitor, which is in a great demand pharmaceutical product, based on big data analysis provided by Google Trends. In this case study, the consumer interest data from Google Trends were compared to the actual product sales of Top 3 TNF-α inhibitors (Enbrel, Remicade, and Humira). A correlation analysis and relative gap were analyzed by statistical analysis between sales-based market share and interest-based market share. Besides, in the country-specific analysis, three major countries (USA, Germany, and France) were selected for market share analysis for Top 3 TNF-α inhibitors. As a result, significant correlation and similarity were identified by data analysis. In the case of Remicade's biosimilars, the consumer interest in two biosimilar products (Inflectra and Renflexis) increased after the FDA approval. The analytical data showed that Google Trends is a powerful tool for market share estimation for biosimilars. This study is the first investigation in market share analysis for pharmaceutical products using Google Trends big data, and it shows that global and regional market share analysis and estimation are applicable for the interest-sensitive products.

Does Rain Really Cause Toothache? Statistical Analysis Based on Google Trends

  • Background: Regardless of countries, the myth that rain makes the body ache has been worded in various forms, and a number of studies have been reported to investigate this. However, these studies, which depended on the patient's experience or memory, had obvious limitations. Google Trends is a big data analysis service based on search terms and viewing videos provided by Google LLC, and attempts to use it in various fields are continuing. In this study, we endeavored to introduce the 'value as a research tool' of the Google Trends, that has emerged along with technological advancements, through research on 'whether toothaches really occur frequently on rainy days'. Methods: Keywords were selected as objectively as possible by applying web crawling and text mining techniques, and the keyword "bi" meaning rain in Korean was added to verify the reliability of Google Trends data. The correlation was statistically analyzed using precipitation and temperature data provided by the Korea Meteorological Agency and daily search volume data provided by Google Trends. Results: Keywords "chi-gwa", "chi-tong", and "chung-chi" were selected, which in Korean mean 'dental clinic', 'toothache', and 'tooth decay' respectively. A significant correlation was found between the amount of precipitation and the search volume of tooth decay. No correlation was found between precipitation and other keywords or other combinations. It was natural that a very significant correlation was found between the amount of precipitation, temperature, and the search volume of "bi". Conclusion: Rain seems to actually be a cause of toothache, and if objective keyword selection is premised, Google Trends is considered to be very useful as a research tool in the future.

  • 본 연구는 토지적성평가 우선개발 항목 중 적법훼손지의 정확한 공간정보의 추출을 위해 Google Earth 영상을 이용하여 분석하였다. 현재 공시지가대장과 건축물대장의 속성정보만을 이용하여 일필지의 면적이내 경계를 추출하고 있어 적법훼손지의 필지별 정확한 세부적인 공간정보를 추출할 수 없는 현실이다. 따라서 본 연구의 Google Earth 영상을 이용한 결과 적법훼손지의 정확한 필지별 면적 및 경계를 구체적으로 추출하는 추적기법개발을 제시하였다. 또한 Google Earth 영상을 이용한 추적기법개발에 따른 일 필지의 정확한 세부 공간정보를 평가한 결과 지적도에 일부 편입되는 적법훼손지의 위치 및 면적등과 관련된 구체적인 일필지의 공간정보를 분석할 수 있었다. 따라서 적법 훼손지를 정확히 구축함으로써 관리지역 세분제도에 계획 생산 보전관리지역에 대한 정확한 평가를 위한 기초적인 참고자료로서 활용 될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 최근 비콘을 이용하여 근거리에 있는 사용자를 찾아 다양한 혜택을 지원해주는 서비스가 제공되고 있다. 2016년에 Google은 보안성 강화를 위해 비콘의 고유 ID를 사용하는 것이 아닌, 주기적으로 변경되는 임시 ID를 사용하여 이를 암호화하고 Broadcasting 하는 Eddystone-EID(Ephemeral Identity)를 공개하였다. EID를 사용하기 위해서는 Google에 비콘의 정보를 등록하는 과정과 EID를 수신 후 Google을 통해 검증하는 과정이 필요하다. 이러한 이유로 외부 업체들도 EID를 사용하기 위해서는 Google에 비콘을 등록해야 하는 문제점이 발생한다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 Eddystone-EID를 Google을 이용하지 않고 자체적으로 검증하는 방법을 제시한다.

  • This paper presents design and implementation of a system for effective visualizing driving history data of the Jeju taxi telematics system using Google Earth. It is possible to review the situation of all taxies or extract the trace of any taxi or search taxies driven through a region of interest.

A Study on Google Classroom as a Tool for the Development of the Learning Model of College English

  • The aim of this study was to explore the use of Google Classroom as a learning management system for College English. The study targeted 34 university students. They took part in various activities, such as writing reactions to video lectures, peer-editing essays, and recording video presentations, et cetera. For the study, a t-test was conducted to evaluate the English development of the students. The two essays that each student wrote were used as the data sources. The result (t=-5.854, p=.000) indicated an improvement in their English writing proficiency. In addition, a survey was conducted to gather students' feedback regarding their perceptions towards the course. The study covered five aspects of their experience: Google Classroom, language development, Quizlet, classroom experience, and essay-writing experience. From the results, students indicated a positive response to the program. The use of Google Classroom in an online learning setting accomplishes two things; it helped the students in the development of their English proficiency, and provided activities that students find interesting, which in turn stimulates their self-learning spirit.
