The purpose of this study was to identify population subgroups with similar patterns of diet quality, physical activity, alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking of Korean. The cluster analysis was conducted using the data from Korea National Health Survey(KNHS) in 1995, which consisted of 5,805 persons. We identified six health behavior typologies : 32.9% of the sample had a good diet but sedentary activity level(good diet lifestyle), 7.2% had high activity level but less diet quality(fitness lifestyle). Individuals in the passive lifestyle cluster(39.1%) had no active health promoting activities but tended to avoid risk taking health behavior such as cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking. 1.1% of the sample were in a drinking cluster, 17.2% in a smoking cluster and 2.5% had a hedonic lifestyle characterized by heavy drinking and smoking. The other characteristics of these lifestyle clusters could be presented by demographic and socioeconomic factors.

In this paper, we deal with an access network design problem of fiber-to-the-home passive optical network (FTTH-PON). The FTTH-PON network design problem seeks to minimize the total cost of optical splitters and cables that provide optical connectivity between central office and subscribers. We develop a flow-based mixed integer programming (MIP) model with nonlinear link cost. By developing valid inequalities and preprocessing rules, we enhance the strength of the proposed MIP model in generating tight lower bounds for the problem. We develop an effective Tabu Search (TS) heuristic algorithm that provides good quality feasible solutions to the problem. Computational results demonstrate that the valid inequalities and preprocessing rules are effective for improving the LP-relaxation lower bound and TS algorithm finds good quality solutions within reasonable time bounds.

This paper proposes a fast motion estimation algorithm based on motion speed and multiple initial center points. The proposed method predicts initial search points by means of the spatio-temporal neighboring motion vectors. A dynamic search pattern based on motion speed and the predicted initial center points is proposed to quickly obtain the motion vector. Due to the usage of the spatio-temporal information and the dynamic search pattern, the proposed method greatly accelerates the search speed while maintaining a good predicted image quality. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a good predicted image quality in terms of PSNR with less search time as compared to the Full Search, New Three-Step Search, and Four-Step Search.

A roll projection welding machine is introduced to fabricate metallic sandwich plate consisting of a structured inner sheet with projection-like shape and a pair of skin sheets. To fabricate the metallic sandwich plate of consistent and good quality, two process monitoring methods are introduced; dynamic resistance monitoring and skin sheet temperature monitoring. Dynamic resistance monitoring has no time delay but gives only averaged value over plate width. Skin sheet temperature monitoring has certain amount of time delay but is good for predicting weld quality of specified position. By the two complementary monitoring methods, the characteristics of the new welding process is successfully understood.

Good shape on flat rolled product is necessary to meet today's customer quality requirement. To meet the increasing demand in quality of strip shape from downstream customers, POSCO has replaced the Automatic Shape Control(ASC) system with the existing one that had used noncontact type measuring system at No.2 Cold Rolling Mill, Pohang works in October, 1995. The strip shape is influenced by the profile, roll crown, bending control, skew control system, as well as work roll cooling system. We have used ASC to adjust those factors in Cold Rolling Mill that could get a satisfactory result, almost less than .+-.5 1-unit deviation from the target shape. However, the downstream customer(i.e. Continuos Annealing Line) wants a good shape not only at the moment of exit of roll bite, but after rolling without tension. In this investigation, the difference will be discussed and how deal with this problem.

As the level of life improves, the eating habit is changing from rice meal to bread meal and at the time, eat more strawberry jam than before. We tried to study to select the good cooking method and the proper strawberry variety for the jam through the sensory evaluation We made four kinds jam of Bogyo-Joseoung and Ai-berry by different cooking methods, the result6s of the sensory evaluation are as follow: The jam of Ai-berry is better than that of Bogyo-Joseoung by the paired comparison test but the difference between those, if we add some lemon to the jam of Bogyo-Joseoung and Ai-berry, is very little. The multiple comparison test proves the sourness, if added some lemon and citric acid, become better and the color and viscosity, if added pectin, became better. The overall preference about jam, if pectin and citric acid were added together, was best. In addition, we evaluated the quality of jammed bread by multiple comparison test. The result is like this: The jam with lemon is very good in color, flavor, sourness and texture, but the jam with pectin and citric acid was the best in overall preference.

This work deals with the electrical conductivity of dielectric and cobalts percentage on output parameters such as metal removal rate and surface roughness value of sintered carbides cut by wire-electrical discharge machining (WEDM). To obtain a precise workpiece with good quality, some extra repetitive finish cuts along the rough cutting contour are necessary, Experimental results show that increases of cobalt amount in carbides affects the metal removal rate and worsens the surface quality as a greater quantity of solidified metal deposits on the eroded surface. Lower electrical conductivity of the dielectric results in a higher metal removal rare as the gap between wire electrode and workpiece reduced. Especially, the surface characteristics of rough-cut workpiece and wire electrode were analyzed too. To obtain a good surface equality without crack, 4 finish-cuts were necessary reducing fille electrical energy and the offset value.

As the machine tool industry progresses, the performance of cutting tools also needs to be of good quality and specialized. If the existing metal cutting tool tip is coated properly, its life would be longer and the machining of a difficult-to-cut material also could be possible. For the development of the high quality cutting tool, the applicabilities of TiAIN coating deposited by PVD on the cutting insert were experimentally investigated. The various measurements, such as, SEM micrograph, XRD pattern, AFM surface morphology, and hardness were performed to cross-check the possibility and availability of TiAIN coated tool in the field. The effects of it is successful and we hope to see good results in many fields.

After observing grinding characteristics according to variable grinding condition in order to raise the grinding effect without making worse the grinding quality by using general grinding machine, main conclusions of this study are as follows; 1) When grinding quality is constant, grinding effect is changed according to the speed of the workpiece. But the rapidly increasing critical speed of table is($V_w{\leq}4m/min$). 2) As grinding effect is equal, the lower the speed of the workpiece becomes, the lower the grinding force and surface roughness obtains good results. 3) In terms of grinding method, the down cut grinding method produces good grinding surface royghness in case of little grinding depth;otherwise, the up cut method in case of more grinding depth.

The purposes of this study are to find out the factors of consumers attitude toward Fashion luxury products; to identify the effects of demographics to influence on consumer's attitude toward fashion luxury products; to identify the effects of the attitude toward fashion luxury to influence on the concern for fashion luxury. The subjects were Korean 445 women from 20's to 50's living in Seoul. The mean, ANOVA, factor analysis, regression analysis, Duncan test were used for statistics analysis. The results are as follows; Seven factors of the attitude toward fashion luxury products were identified: the involvement for fashion luxury, the duality of fashion luxury, the negative response toward the consumption of fashion luxury, the luxurious aspect of fashion goods, the traditional value of fashion luxury, the rarity of fashion luxury. Among demographics, age and income influenced on fashion luxury products involvement, the quality of luxury products. The perception of good quality and hedonic consumption of luxury good influence highly on the involvement for the luxury products.
