  • The evaluation of grounwater flow in the Ingulam valley catchment area in the vicinity of SamKwang mine was studied. In this study, field hydraulic tests, groundwater flow measurement, and MODFLOW model application were carried out. The results of analysis are described as follows. The rainrate infiltrated into the ground in the study area, hardly reached the gneiss region deeper than EL.(+)100m above the surface of seawater. The rainwater infiltrated into the ground near the water system boundary, flowed out into the vicinity of streams and the travel time was between 15 and 263 years. Also, the estimated total flow rate of the groundwater in the study area was 307㎥/day.

  • The Buyeo-Cheongyang area, in the south-western area of Gyeonggi massif, comprises Precambrian and Mesozoic metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The original rock of metamorphic rocks was studied by geochemical examination and statistical analyses of the trace elements in the gneisses, schists, shale and granitic rocks. Average abundance of Cu,Cr,Pb,Ni,Co,Mn,Li and Zn elements from gneisses have similar to those from shale and schists. However the gneisses have higher Cr,Ni,Co,Mn,Li abundance than those from the granite. Abundance range and frequency distribution of the trace elements in the gneiss show a marked trend sedimentary origin, that is, standard deviation have far the higer than that of igneous origin. Also it is wide dispersion and irregularly distribution. For that reason, this gneiss is regard as sedimentary original rocks with schists.

  • The calculated characteristics of groundwater within the Youngsan river basin are : casing depth-17.1m, well depth-74.8m, natural water-2.6m, pumping water-43.9m, yields-391$m^3/D$, transmissivity-16.3$m^3/D/m$, storativity-0.068. As far as hydrogeological units are concerned, in casing depth, weathered granites are deepest followed by gneiss, volcanics, and sediments. In major aquifer development areas, sediments are deepest followed by volcanics, granites and gneiss in more shallow areas, Altogether, the major aquifar development depth of the Youngsan river basin is within the $35{\sim}60m$ range.

  • Busan migmatitic gneisses in the northeastern margin of the Ogcheon zone have been studied petrologically in order to clarify their origin. Petrochemical and mineralogical studies show that the gneisses are Precambrian basemental paragneisses and the rocks were migmatized more intensively than the Bagdalryeong gneisses which have been known to constitute the basemental gneisses of Ogcheon zone. K-Ar biotite isotopic ages are $150.79{\pm}3.37Ma$ in Busan migmatitic gneiss and $191{\pm}4.27Ma$ in Bagdalryeong gneisses. These ages seem to be isotopic homogenised ages. Progressive regional metamorphisms are predominent in the studied area showing greenschist facies, epidote amphibolite facies and amphibolite facies toward N-W direction.

  • Generally gneiss regions catagolized as metamorphic ground are very complicated and difficult for geotenical engineer to establish stability, this slopes include falt zone and many folding structures. therefore the slope in this study is very complicated and highly wheathered and framentation conditions are irregular by this study, we hope that geotechical engineers who are confronted with the same complicated slope as this slope are doing his job easily and they know which system are adequate to establish the slope stability in large-scale slope with complicated geological structure, and besides through our work flow and modeling process, we hope that our study can be useful for geotenical engineer who may work slope design and construct in complicated ground.

  • Several masses of the alpine type ultramafic rocks are found within the Precambrian Kyeonggi gneiss complex, western part of Chungnam province. They occur as discontinuous isolated lenticular bodies along the fault line(NNE direction), dominant tectonic directions of Kyeonggi gneiss complex. The ultramafic rocks occur as fault contacts with the adjacent Precambrian metamorphic and metasedimentary rocks. (omitted)
