Methods The patient was hospitalized after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and was suffering with post from COVID-19 syndrome such as fatigue and loss of appetite after discharge. The patient was diagnosed as Taeeumin and treated with Seunggeumjowi-tang. The progress was evaluated with the global assessment scale (GAS). Results and Conclusions Fatigue and anorexia were significantly improved, and other symptoms were restored as before. This case shows the possibility of Sasang Constitutional medication treatment for the sequelae of COVID-19.

  • Objectives: Irritable bowel syndrome is a functional disorder of the gastrointestinal tract marked by chronic abdominal pain and altered bowel habits. Irritable bowel syndrome is experienced by 11% of the global population. Although antidepressants and antispasmodic agents are currently used as therapeutic methods, they have side effects, so safer treatment agents are needed. Hence, I report the case of an outpatient who suffers from irritable bowel syndrome. Methods: The patient visited a public health center 14 times over four weeks and was treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine (Sosiho-tang and Jakyakgamcho-tang). Treatment progress was assessed using the Irritable Bowel Syndrome Severity Scoring System. Results: After 28 days of treatment, the Irritable Bowel Syndrome Severity Scoring System score decreased from 410 to 30 points without adverse events. The patient was highly satisfied. Conclusion: Sosiho-tang and Jakyakgamcho-tang with acupuncture might become recommended therapeutic options for irritable bowel syndrome patients.

  • We present our efforts for extending the simultaneous multi-frequency receiver system of the Korean Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) Network (KVN) to global baselines in order to measure the frequency-dependent position shifts in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) jets, the so called core shift effect, with an unprecedented accuracy (a few micro-arcseconds). Millimeter VLBI observations with simultaneous multi-frequency receiver systems, like those of the KVN, enable us to explore the innermost regions of AGN and high precision astrometry. Such a system is capable of locating the frequency dependent opacity changes accurately. We have conducted the feasibility test-observations with the interested partners by implementing the KVN-compatible systems. Here we describe the science case for measuring the core shift effect in the AGN jet and report progress and future plans on extending the simultaneous multi-frequency system to global baselines.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to report the treatment progress of a pregnant women who were treated with Korean medical hospitalization due to threatened abortion in first trimester and plecenta previa in second trimester during pregnancy. Methods: A 36-year-old pregnant woman was hospitalized twice at 9 and 19 weeks of pregnancy due to threatened abortion in first trimester and plecenta previa in second trimester. The patient was prescribed Korean Medicine(Gamidanggui-san, Gamibosaeng-tang) and treated with acupuncture, moxa. Global Assessment(G/A) of bleeding volume and frequency, Numerical Rating Scale(NRS) of abdominal pain, Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) of symptoms was assessed during hospitalization days. Results: Amounts of bleeding, abdominal pain decreased, and other symptoms improved during hospitalization days. The patient maintained her pregnancy until 31st gestational week and gave a birth by Cesarean section. After giving birth, mother and infant are both in good health. Conclusions: This study suggests Korean medicine treatment has effectively reduced uterine bleeding and helped maintain pregnancy.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to report 20 cases of tic disorder children who were treated by Kuibiondam-tang Gami. Methods We treated the tic disorder children with herbal medicine, Kuibiondam-tang Gami. Then we evaluated tic disorder by Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) and observed the progress of tic disorder. Results 20 children (male 17, female 3 / transient tic disorder 6, chronic motor or vocal tic disorder 13, Tourette's disorder 1) were studied, the average age of children was $8.45{\pm}2.08$ years, the average duration of illness was $16.55{\pm}13.63$ month and the mean of treatment was $13.20{\pm}9.29$ week. After the treatment, mean of YGTSS was reduced $36.35{\pm}9.84$ to $9.35{\pm}1.03$ and total effective rate was 95%. Conclusions Kuibiondam-tang Gami is effective for reducing tic symptom and improving general conditions in children.

  • Objectives The purpose of this case was to report significant improvement of abdominal pain, constipation and a slight improvement of tremor after treatment by Sasang Constitutional Medicine to the patient with Parkinson's disease. Methods The patient was diagnosed as Soyangin according to the result of Sasang constitutional diagnosis, and treated by Sasang constitutional medications and acupuncture. The progress was evaluated with the Global Assessment Scale (GAS).Results The abdominal pain was reduced from Numeric Rating Scale (NRS)9 to NRS1 and headache was reduced from NRS5 to NRS3. The tremor was reduced to GAS 10. Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) was reduced from 40 to 27. The difference of heat distribution between left and right side was reduced and the abdomen was more warmer on Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI).Conclusions Sasang constitutional medicine can be a solution for the non motor symptoms caused by Parkinson's disease.

  • Objectives The purpose of this case study is to report significant improvement of headache, constipation and a slight improvement of tremor after treatment with Hyeongbangjihwhang-tang in a Soyangin patient with Parkinson's disease. Methods This Soyangin patient is treated by Hyeongbangjihwhang-tang and acupuncture therapy. The progress was evaluated using the Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale before and after treatment. Secondary results assessments include Global Assessment Scale, change of patient's omniloquilism, Xerostomia and Cold hands & Feet Syndrome. Results and Conclusions The patient's symptoms of headache, constipation and tremor were improved after using Hyeongbangjihwhang-tang. and UDPRS score decreased in Part Ⅰ, Part Ⅱ, and Part Ⅲ. In conclusion, this study shows that Hyeongbangjihwhang-tang can be effective treatment for Soyangin patient with early-stage Parkinson''s disease. Overall, Sasang medicine can be a solution of the symptoms caused by Parkinson's disease. Through Sasang medicine we can contribute Parkinson's disease Patient's quality of life get better.
