  • This study describes a methodology to develop a environmental and geographical information system for managing a national scale which is supports the environmental fate modeling. This system was developed via the integration of environmental and geographical information database(DB) and the DB usage software. For the sound environmental management, the DB were constructed by extracting the geometrical figures-such as points, polylines, and/or polygons-based on the geographical information previously developed in Korea. Then it was connected with the environmental information. Based on the Visual Basic Complier, the software can be a useful tool for visualizing the DB, for searching the environmental & geographical information, and supporting the environmental fate modeling.

  • In this paper, we propose Media CIS system architecture which provides geographical information of geo-features in video sequences by using 3D geographical database and GPS-related data resulted from 4S-Van. We introduce a novel interoperable geographical data service concept, so-called, Virtual World Mapping (VWA) that can map 3D graphic world with real-world video to provide geographical information. Our proposed method can easily retrieve geographical information and attributes to reconstruct 3D virtual space according to certain frame in video sequences. Our proposed system architecture also has an advantage that can provide geographical information service with video stream without any image processing procedures. In addition to, describing the details of our components, we present a Media GIS web service system by using GeoVideo Server, which performs VWM technique.

  • Purpose: Previous evaluation studies of the visiting nursing program explained an average change of the participants' health status, without considering socio-ecological characteristics and their impacts. However, these factors must affect individual health problems and lifestyles. For effective and appropriate community based programs, the Geographical Information System(GIS) can be utilized. GIS is a computer-based tool for mapping and analyzing things that happen on earth, and integrates statistical analysis with unique visualization. The purpose of this study was to evaluate visiting nursing care and to advocate the usefulness of planning and evaluating visiting nursing programs using Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis(ESDA) with GIS technology. Methods: One hundred eighty-four elderly participants with cerebrovascular risk factors who lived in 13 areas of one community received visiting nursing care. The data analyzed characteristics of pre-post change and autocorrelation by ESDA using GIS technology. Results: Visiting nursing care showed an improvement in the participants' lifestyle habits, and family management ability and stress level, while the improvements were different depending on the regions. The change of family management ability and stress level correlated with neighborhoods (Morgan's I=0.1841, 0.1675). Conclusions: Community health providers need to consider the individual participant's health status as well as socio-ecological factors. Analysis using GIS technology will contribute to the effective monitoring, evaluation and design of a visiting nursing program.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the price computation criteria with the aspect of price policy for the geographical information circulation. The price policy is to make activated circulation for geographical information. The price policy of this research considered the supplier and the user side at the same time. Important issue of price policy is that initial cost for system development calculate burying cost, and preservation and renewal cost charge to user. Distribution cost of geographical information charge to user according to use media, and apply differential rates of cost according to the purpose of using, up-to-dateness of data. Also, present the price policy that must apply copyright fee to of offer geographical information. Consider various terms that was studied in this study, the price computation criteria was presented. Through this, it is expected that geographical information circulation is activated more.

  • Recently, by the interest of geographical information and the utilization field of geographical information diversifying. Various GIS(Geographic Information System) was built to manage geographical information efficiently. However, because of interoperability between geographic information system, OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium) standardized GML(Geography Markup Language) of the XML(eXtensible Markup Language) foundation in which an interoperability writes possible geographical information data. GML national standard is applied to various application fields at present, and the use is confirmed. In this paper, GML 3.2.1 encoding standard specification follows requirements of OGC recommendation, we designed GML document editing system using XML standard technology, and generated interoperability GML data.

  • In general, GIS provides a user with geographical information according to his requirements after a computer stores digitized spatial data from real scenes. Geographical information from digitized spatial data lacks of reality due to the exclusion of real scenes. However, Augmented Reality(AR) allows a user to see the real world with virtual objects superimposed upon or composited with the real world. Therefore it enhances a user's perception of the real world. In this paper, we present the development on 3D geographical information guide system using augmented reality that displays the real world with virtual objects such as building name, road name, etc., in real time.

  • As information technologies are improving, geographical information system (GIS) technologies are also developing rapidly and demands for spatial analysis with GIS are increasing. Particularly, the spatial analyses with GIS researches have been noted rather than general GIS researches. However, most GIS researches focus on space dimension: a density-based clustering method (DBSCAN) or a DBSCAN algorithm using region expressed as Weight (DBSCAN-W) but the importance of rational decision making based on time dimension has been neglected. This study adopts system dynamics in order to put time dimension in GIS-based optimum allocation.

  • Recently we have discovered that sediments should be separated from lithosphere, and soil should be separated from biosphere, both sediment and soil will be mixed sediments-soil-sphere (Seso-sphere), which is using particulate mechanics to be solved. Erosion and sediment both are moving by particulate matter with water or wind. But ancient sediments will be erosion same to soil. Nowadays, real soil has already reduced much more. Many places have only remained sediments that have ploughed artificial farming layer. Thus it means sediments-soil-sphere. This paper discusses sediments-soil-sphere erosion modeling. In fact sediments-soil-sphere erosion is including water erosion, wind erosion, melt-water erosion, gravitational water erosion, and mixed erosion. We have established geographical remote sensing information modeling (RSIM) for different erosion that was using remote sensing digital images with geographical ground truth water stations and meteorological observatories data by remote sensing digital images processing and geographical information system (GIS). All of those RSIM will be a geographical multidimensional gray non-linear equation using mathematics equation (non-dimension analysis) and mathematics statistics. The mixed erosion equation is more complex that is a geographical polynomial gray non-linear equation that must use time-space fuzzy condition equations to be solved. RSIM is digital image modeling that has separated physical factors and geographical parameters. There are a lot of geographical analogous criterions that are non-dimensional factor groups. The geographical RSIM could be automatic to change them analogous criterions to be fixed difference scale maps. For example, if smaller scale maps (1:1000 000) that then will be one or two analogous criterions and if larger scale map (1:10 000) that then will be four or five analogous criterions. And the geographical parameters that are including coefficient and indexes will change too with images. The geographical RSIM has higher precision more than mathematics modeling even mathematical equation or mathematical statistics modeling.

  • Gastric cancer (GC) is the fifth most common cancer in the world, with a wide variation in incidence rates across different geographical areas. In Iran GC is the most common cancer in males and it is reported to be the third most prevalent after breast and colorectal in females. A geographical information system (GIS) allows investigation of the geographical distribution of diseases. The purpose of the present study was to explore the relationship between gastric cancer and effective climatic factors using GIS. The dispersion distribution and the relationship between environmental factors effective on cancer were measured using Arc GIS. Of all cases, 672 (73.8%) were in males with a sex ratio of 3 to1. The highest incidence by cities was seen in Namin with 137.5 per 100,000. The results of this study showed that the distribution of GC around the Sabalan volcanic mountain was significantly higher than other places in the same province. These results can be considered as a window to future comprehensive research on gastric cancer.
