  • In this paper, we propose a new design method of Genetic Algorithm Processor(GAP) and Evolvable Hardware(EHW). All sorts of creature evolve its structure or shape in order to adapt itself to environments. Evolutionary Computation based on the process of natural selection not only searches the quasi-optimal solution through the evolution process, but also changes the structure to get best results. On the other hand, Genetic Algorithm(GA) is good fur finding solutions of complex optimization problems. However, it has a major drawback, which is its slow execution speed when is implemented in software of a conventional computer. Parallel processing has been one approach to overcome the speed problem of GA. In a point of view of GA, long bit string length caused the system of GA to spend much time that clear up the problem. Evolvable Hardware refers to the automation of electronic circuit design through artificial evolution, and is currently increased with the interested topic in a research domain and an engineering methodology. The studies of EHW generally use the XC6200 of Xilinx. The structure of XC6200 can configure with gate unit. Each unit has connected up, down, right and left cell. But the products can't use because had sterilized. So this paper uses Vertex-E (XCV2000E). The cell of FPGA is made up of Configuration Logic Block (CLB) and can't reconfigure with gate unit. A Study on the Joint Controller for a Humanoid Robot based on Genetic Algorithm (유전 알고리즘을 이용한 휴머노이드 로봇의 관절 제어기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a joint controller for a humanoid robot based on genetic algorithm. h humanoid robot has basically instability during walking because it isn't fixed on the ground. Moreover nonlinearities of the joints increase its instability. If one of them isn't satisfied, the robot may fall down at the ground during walking. To attack one of those problems, joint controller is proposed. It can perform tracking control preciously and reduce the effect of nonlinearities by gear, limitation of the input voltage, coulomb friction and so on. This controller is based on fuzzy-sliding mode controller (FSMC) and compensator and control gains are searched by a proposed genetic algorithm. It can reduce the effect by nonlinearities. Also, to improve the tracking performance, the proposed controller has motion controller. From the given controller, a humanoid robot can moved more preciously. Here, all the processes are investigated through simulations and it is verified experimentally in a real joint system for a humanoid robot.

  • 컴퓨터의 사용이 일반화됨에 따라 데이타를 생성하고 수집하는 것이 용이해졌다. 이에 따라 데이타로부터 자동적으로 유용한 지식을 얻는 기술이 필요하게 되었다. 데이타 마이닝에서 얻어진 지식은 정확성과 이해성을 충족해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 데이타 마이닝을 위하여 퍼지 결정트리에 기반한 효율적인 퍼지 규칙을 생성하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 퍼지 결정트리는 ID3와 C4.5의 이해성과 퍼지이론의 추론과 표현력을 결합한 방법이다. 특히, 퍼지 규칙은 속성 축에 평행하게 판단 경계선을 결정하는 방법으로는 어려운 속성 축에 평행하지 않는 경계선을 갖는 패턴을 효율적으로 분류한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 첫째, 각 속성 데이타의 히스토그램 분석을 통해 적절한 소속함수를 생성한다. 둘째, 주어진 소속함수를 바탕으로 ID3와 C4.5와 유사한 방법으로 퍼지 결정트리를 생성한다. 또한, 유전자 알고리즘을 이용하여 소속함수를 조율한다. IRIS 데이타, Wisconsin breast cancer 데이타, credit screening 데이타 등 벤치마크 데이타들에 대한 실험 결과 제안된 방법이 C4.5 방법을 포함한 다른 방법보다 성능과 규칙의 이해성에서 보다 효율적임을 보인다.Abstract With an extended use of computers, we can easily generate and collect data. There is a need to acquire useful knowledge from data automatically. In data mining the acquired knowledge needs to be both accurate and comprehensible. In this paper, we propose an efficient fuzzy rule generation algorithm based on fuzzy decision tree for data mining. We combine the comprehensibility of rules generated based on decision tree such as ID3 and C4.5 and the expressive power of fuzzy sets. Particularly, fuzzy rules allow us to effectively classify patterns of non-axis-parallel decision boundaries, which are difficult to do using attribute-based classification methods.In our algorithm we first determine an appropriate set of membership functions for each attribute of data using histogram analysis. Given a set of membership functions then we construct a fuzzy decision tree in a similar way to that of ID3 and C4.5. We also apply genetic algorithm to tune the initial set of membership functions. We have experimented our algorithm with several benchmark data sets including the IRIS data, the Wisconsin breast cancer data, and the credit screening data. The experiment results show that our method is more efficient in performance and comprehensibility of rules compared with other methods including C4.5.

Crack Identification Based on Synthetic Artificial Intelligent Technique (통합적 인공지능 기법을 이용한 결함인식)

  • It has been established that a crack has an important effect on the dynamic behavior of a structure. This effect depends mainly on the location and depth of the crack. To identify the location and depth of a crack in a structure, a method is presented in this paper which uses synthetic artificial intelligent technique, that is, Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS) solved via hybrid learning algorithm(the back-propagation gradient descent and the least-squares method) are used to learn the input(the location and depth of a crack)-output(the structural eigenfrequencies) relation of the structural system. With this ANFIS and a continuous evolutionary algorithm(CEA), it is possible to formulate the inverse problem. CEAs based on genetic algorithms work efficiently for continuous search space optimization problems like a parameter identification problem. With this ANFIS, CEAs are used to identify the crack location and depth minimizing the difference from the measured frequencies. We have tried this new idea on a simple beam structure and the results are promising.

Review on Advanced Health Monitoring Methods for Aero Gas Turbines using Model Based Methods and Artificial Intelligent Methods

  • The aviation gas turbine is composed of many expensive and highly precise parts and operated in high pressure and temperature gas. When breakdown or performance deterioration occurs due to the hostile environment and component degradation, it severely influences the aircraft operation. Recently to minimize this problem the third generation of predictive maintenance known as condition based maintenance has been developed. This method not only monitors the engine condition and diagnoses the engine faults but also gives proper maintenance advice. Therefore it can maximize the availability and minimize the maintenance cost. The advanced gas turbine health monitoring method is classified into model based diagnosis (such as observers, parity equations, parameter estimation and Gas Path Analysis (GPA)) and soft computing diagnosis (such as expert system, fuzzy logic, Neural Networks (NNs) and Genetic Algorithms (GA)). The overview shows an introduction, advantages, and disadvantages of each advanced engine health monitoring method. In addition, some practical gas turbine health monitoring application examples using the GPA methods and the artificial intelligent methods including fuzzy logic, NNs and GA developed by the author are presented.

Performance Improvement on MFCM for Nonlinear Blind Channel Equalization Using Gaussian Weights (가우시안 가중치를 이용한 비선형 블라인드 채널등화를 위한 MFCM의 성능개선)

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 블라인드 채널등화기의 구현을 위하여 가우시안 가중치(gaussian weights)를 이용한 개선된 퍼지 클러스터(Modified Fuzzy C-Means with Gaussian Weights: MFCM_GW) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 기존 FCM 알고리즘의 유클리디언 거리(Euclidean distance) 값 대신 Bayesian Likelihood 목적함수(fitness function)와 가우시안 가중치가 적용된 멤버쉽 매트릭스(partition matrix)를 이용하여, 비선형 채널의 출력으로 수신된 데이터들로부터 최적의 채널 출력 상태 값(optimal channel output states)들을 직접 추정한다. 이렇게 추정된 채널 출력 상태 값들로 비선형 채널의 이상적 채널 상태(desired channel states) 벡터들을 구성하고, 이를 Radial Basis Function(RBF) 등화기의 중심(center)으로 활용함으로써 송신된 데이터 심볼을 찾아낸다. 실험에서는 무작위 이진 신호에 가우시안 잡음이 추가된 데이터를 사용하여 기존의 Simplex Genetic Algorithm(GA), 하이브리드 형태의 GASA(GA merged with simulated annealing (SA)), 그리고 과거에 발표되었던 MFCM 등과 그 성능을 비교 분석하였으며, 가우시안 가중치가 적용된 MFCM_GW를 이용한 채널등화기가 상대적으로 정확도와 속도 면에서 우수함을 보였다.

An Optimal COA Defuzzifier for a Fuzzy Logic controller (퍼지 논리 제어기를 위한 최적의 COA 비퍼지화기)

  • This paper proposes an optimal COA(Center Of Area) defuzzification method that improves the contr~lp erformance of a fuzzy logic controller. The defuzzification method incorporates both the membership values and the effective span of membership function6 in calculating a crisp value. An optimal effective span is determined automatically by the genetic algorithm thrqugh the training of some typical examples. Simulation of the proposed COA defuzzifier to the truck backer-upper control problem is presented and the control performance of the praposed COA defuzzifier outperforms that of the conventional COA defuzzifier by more than 20% in terms of ayerage tracing distance.

  • As the development of information communication technology and thus the growth of security incidents, there has been increasing demand on developing methodologies and tools for measuring the information security level of organizations for the efficient security management. However, most works from foreign countries are not realistic in constructing the checklists, moreover their tools provide neither the ease of use nor the inexpensiveness, and most domestic works are not properly considering the characteristics of the organizations when measuring the information security level. In this study, an efficient information security levelling tool is suggested, which applies the multiple variable weights for security levelling according to the characteristics of organizations and the fuzzy technique to reduce the user's subjectivity and the genetic algorithm to establish the security countermeasure.

  • It is not so easy to control the wheeled mobile robot because of some causes like non-holonomic constraints. To overcome these problems, a controller that PD system is combined with fuzzy process is composed of several steps that have each separate algorithm and niche search algorithm and immune algorithm is applied partly. Output term set is changed by search that is performed to get optimal elements and then the rule base is also reformed. The fitness for the altered system is estimated and the surplus elements are removed. After the adjustment of output term set and rule base is finished, input and output membership functions is tuned.
