The purposes of this study is to analyze the leisure behaviors of single households in Korea on the basis of generation, and identify leisure characteristics or factors that influence levels of happiness in these households. The sample comprised 1,144 single householders, among whom 74 belong to the teenage generation, 288 are of the eco generation, 154 belong to generation X, 104 are baby boomers, and 524 are of the older generation. Various leisure characteristics were compared across the generations, namely, conditions for leisure, degree of leisure participation, level of work-leisure balance, persistence of participation, and type of activity. Results showed differences in leisure characteristics and leisure factors that influence levels of happiness among the generations.
The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of generation on the traditional food culture of Uzbekistan-Koreans. The generation of Uzbekistan-Koreans was divided into two groups i.e., the second and third generation. The second generation suffered from the compulsory emigration during 1930s because of the minority racial breakup policy by the Soviet Russia. The third generation was born after the compulsory emigration and the economic condition was much better for them. In terms of identifying traditional food culture, generation was an important factor because each generation had different social environments and different life styles. Data were collected from 634 Koreans living in Uzbekistan and analyzed by chi-square and correlation analysis. The results of this study revealed that the impact of generation was an important factor regarding the traditional food culture. Chi-square analysis showed that factors related to making a menu, food priority, and consideration of the person preparing the food were likely to vary depending on the generation. Also, reasons for preferring traditional food and preparing foods for family events as well as national holidays were different between the second and the third generation. The second generation preferred traditional food because of flavor, while the third generation preferred traditional food because of nutrition. For family events and national holidays such as New Year's Day, the second generation was more likely to prepare traditional foods than the third generation. The correlation analysis indicated that the relationship between preference and intake frequency of traditional foods was positively related, and the degree of correlation was higher for the second than the third generation. Similarities and differences between generations were discussed, and implications for food and nutrition specialists and food marketers were provided.
Purpose - This study aims to explore the impact of factors on Korean consumer goods purchase decision of Vietnam's Generation Z. Research design, data, and methodology - A mixed research method was utilized in this study including focus group, in-depth interview, pilot study, and official study. This study compares and contrasts the consumer decision-making styles (CDMS) of South Korean and American Generation Y females. A total of 117 American female and 206 Korean female consumers completed self-report survey questionnaires to assess their consumer decision making styles. Exploratory principal components factor analysis using varimax rotation was used to categorize the items into an underlying set of American and Korean decision-making characteristics. Two-tailed independent t-tests were conducted to examine the differences between the two groups when items appeared to have common factors. Factor analysis identified five common factors between the two samples (i.e., enjoyment, shopping aversion, price consciousness, brand consciousness, and quality consciousness). The t-test results report significant differences in the items reported in each factor between American and Korean females. Some of the factors are more indicative of American female Generation Y consumers than Korean female Generation Y consumers. For example, the American female sample seemed to enjoy shopping and prefer brand names more than the female Korean sample. Koreans females seem to have a higher aversion to shopping than Americans; in addition, Koreans females seem to be more accepting of discount and outlet stores, will wait until the price is low before buying a product, and prefer sales when shopping. Based on the findings, the instrument identified varying CDMS between the two samples used. Previous studies using the Sproles and Kendall (1986) instrument experienced the same issue (Bakewell & Mitchell, 2004, 2006; Bauer et al., 2006; Durvasula et al., 1996; Fan & Xiao, 1998; Hanzaee & Aghasibeig, 2008; Mitchell & Walsh, 2004; Siu et al., 2001; Walsh et al., 2001). The results support the idea that no single instrument can be used to examine CDMS in different cultures. This suggests that each country has a CDMS with internal characteristics. Limitations and research for future studies are also discusse.

Fast curve generation is one of important techniques which facilitate fast process of computer graphics applications. It is possible to resolve the task through hardware or software. But rapid development of computer graphics area need methods for more fast generation of curves. This paper propose a algorithm (called CDAUD), which computes the coordinates of points on curve only with add operations using for ward differences and draw the curve fast. It also contains the method for generation of smooth and fully connected curves. Time complexity of CDAUD shows that it is superior than the existing method for constrained case, and it's superiority was validated through experimental implementation.

This study examines the children's wear purchasing behavior of younger generation women (the missy group) and in the new-silver generation (retired). The data collected in the study were examined with a view to establish effective marketing strategies within the children's wear market, a market where the age and characteristics of the actual purchasers of the products have become more diverse. A descriptive survey method using a self-administered questionnaire was employed. The sample consisted of 398 females between the ages of 28 and 64 residing in Seoul and the Gyeonggi-do area. Data collected were analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and Cronbach's alpha coefficients. Respondents were classified into 4 groups by their clothes shopping orientation: conformable/brand conscious purchasing type, planned purchasing/enjoy shopping type, store/brand loyal impulse-oriented type, and dependent/low shopping interest type. There were differences between the missy and the new- silver generations under consideration. It is clear from the study that, even though some individuals of the missy group and of new-silver group belonged to the same shopping orientation type, individuals still showed differences with regard to children's wear purchasing behavior.

The purpose of this study was to classify Y generation according to Hip Hop mania elements and to investigate the differences in psychological characteristics (self-consciousness, egocentrism) and buying behavior of Hip Hop fashion among the classified groups. The subjects were 500 middle and high school students living in Seoul and Kyonggi area.46g data were analysed using cluster analysis, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. The results were as (follows : As a result of classifying Y generation with Hip Hop mania element including behavior and attitude aspect they were classified into three groups; Hip Hop mania group, Hip Hop interesting group, Hip Hop uninterested group. Among groups there were significant differences in public and private self-consciousness, self-centeredness, evaluative criteria of Hip Hop fashion, information sources and clothing store patronage. Hip Hop Mania group showed significantly higher level in both public and private self-consciousness, thus the members of the group were so egocentric in their thinking and behavior. When they purchased Hip Hop fashion, they regarded both aesthetic appreciation and practicality as import information.
This study provides the basic data for clothing construction of teen girls by researching and analyzing the characteristics of physical changes of tween generation school girls between 8 to 14 age. Fifty eight items of direct measurements and 61 calculated-items based on the 6th Korean National Physical Standard Reports were used. Results were obtained by using ANOVA, SNK test, coefficient of variation and growth rate of age groups. Significant differences were found among all the age groups, and were in the increasing order of height > length > width > depth > circumference. The growth rate was found in the increasing order of bust depth > hip width > N.P. to B.P. > hip circumference > bust circumference and thigh circumference. There were dramatic increases in height, circumference and width during the age of 8~9 and 10~11, in length during age of 10~11, and in depth during age of 8~11. The growth of the vertical measurement items is slowing at the age of 13. The individual differences were great in the vertical measurements at the age of 8 and 9 and in the horizontal measurements, at the age of 10. The increasing growth of bust and hip than waist gave it a curved shape.
Following the first successful trial of surfactant replacement therapy for preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) by Fujiwara in 1980, several animal-derived natural surfactants and synthetic surfactants have been developed. Synthetic surfactants were designed to overcome limitations of natural surfactants such as cost, immune reactions, and infections elicited by animal proteins contained in natural surfactants. However, first-generation synthetic surfactants that are protein-free have failed to prove their superiority over natural surfactants because they lack surfactant protein (SP). Lucinactant, a second-generation synthetic surfactant containing the SP-B analog, was better or at least as effective as the natural surfactant, suggesting that lucinactant could act an alternative to natural surfactants. Lucinactant was approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration in March 2012 as the fifth surfactant to treat neonatal RDS. CHF5633, a second-generation synthetic surfactant containing SP-B and SP-C analogs, was effective and safe in a human multicenter cohort study for preterm infants. Many comparative studies of natural surfactants used worldwide have reported different efficacies for different preparations. However, these differences are believed to due to site variations, not actual differences. The more important thing than the composition of the surfactant in improving outcome is the timing and mode of administration of the surfactant. Novel synthetic surfactants containing synthetic phospholipid incorporated with SP-B and SP-C analogs will potentially represent alternatives to natural surfactants in the future, while improvement of treatment modalities with less-invasive or noninvasive methods of surfactant administration will be the most important task to be resolved.
Korean native ducks (KNDs) continue to have a high preference from consumers due to their excellent meat quality and taste characteristics. However, due to low productivity and fixed plumage color phenotype, it could not secure a large share in the domestic market compared to imported species. In order to improve the market share of KNDs, the genetic characteristics of the breed should be identified and used for improvement and selection. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the genetic information of colored and white KNDs using next-generation resequencing data and screening for differences between the two groups. As a result of the analysis, the genetic variants that showed significant differences between the colored and white KND groups were mainly identified as mutations related to tyrosine activity. The variants were located in the genes that affect melanin synthesis and regulation, such as EGFR, PDGFRA, and DDR2, and these were reported as the candidate genes related to plumage pigmentation in poultry. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to be useful as a basis for understanding and utilizing the genetic characteristics of KNDs for genetic improvement and selection of white broiler KNDs.
