To find a basic study for manpower of physicians and medical care systems in Busan, author has studied towards 1,069 doctors who had taken the regular report in 1973, residing in Busan City. The survey was conducted from July 1 to August 31, 1973 and the findings & results obtained through the study for distributions, characteristics, employment of doctors and some medical system were summarized as follows; 1. The ratio between doctor and populations in Busan City was 1:1,887. 2. The doctors who graduated from Susan Medical College were 438 as the most proportion (40.9%). 3. Sex distribution of doctors revealed male 970, female 99 and those belonging to the 30-39 age group were as the most proportion (41.0%). 4. The doctors who had faith in Christianity were the highest (22.3%), 5. By the opening year of clinics, there was increasing tendency after 1950, especially during 1970-1973. 6. At that time of investigation, the doctors who had private clinics were 673 (67.3%) and nonemployees were 27 (2.5%) 7. The total Medical Specialists in Busan were 519, and among them the Internal Medicine Specialists were the highest proportion (16.2%). 8. The clinics employing the disqualified nurse-aids were 237 (22.2%). 9. Most of doctors (81.8%) had opposed attitude to the establishment of new medical colleges. 10. More than half of the doctors (59.8%) agreed to the functional division between Physicians and Pharmacists. 11. The ratio of agreement to the practical application of public medical insurances was 68.7%. 12. The opinion by opening hospital-clinics at Myeon for administrative measures for doctorless rural area was the highest proportion. 13. The doctors who replied as low state of confidence of the citizens to the doctors-themselves were 691 (64.6%).
The purpose of this study was to survey the knowledge level, attitude and practice of nurses toward their work. The subjects of the study were composed of 98 nurses from 3 general hospitals, 1 oriental medical hospital, 2 health centers and several community health posts and schools. Data were collected from May to October, 1998. In data analysis, an SPSS PC program was utilized for descriptions. 1) 16 nurses (16.3%) experienced medical accidents on the 7 nurses(7.1%) 1 time, 6 nurses (6.1%) 2 times, and 3 nurses(3.1%) 3 times. 2) Concerning knowledge of their legal obligations ; the prohibition of telling secrets was .89, the prohibition of reading medical records was .58, the keeping of medical records was 1.0 and the teaching of recuperation was. 79. The total mean score was. 86. Concerning attitude and practice; the prohibition of telling secrets was 81.6%, 63.3%. The prohibition of reading medical records was 61.2%, 60.2%. The keeping of medical records was 98%, 98%. The explanation for treatment, care and test was 91.8%, 66.3%. The teaching for recuperation was 63.3%, 63.3%. 3) Knowledge of their legal responsibilities; 29. 6% of the subjects thought that they should report a medical accident to their headnurse, but 75.5% of the subjects actually reported to the headnurse. 39.8% of the subjects thought that nurses were liable for the faults of nursing aides. The total mean score was .45. 46% of the subjects asked a senior staff's advide on difficult affairs. Nurses obeyed legal obligations when concern ing the protection of a client, but were passive when concerning self protection. Also, headnurses were required as adviser, guide and advocate.
The quality of mother-infant interaction during early postpartum period has a significant influence on the child growth and development in many aspects. The mother's initial perception of the newborns might have the lasting influence on the development of the mother-infant attachment and mother-infant relationship. Therefore the proper mother-infant interaction should be developed after infant birth. However, it is acknowledged that the high risk infants influence on the mothers' perception because of their abnormalities or disorders of physical condition and the restricted maternal contacts and interactions. The object of this study is to identify the difference of mother's perception of their normal and high-risk newborn during the early postpartum period. The ultimate goal is to contribute to use this basic data to develop nursing intervention toward the promotion of healthy mother-infant relationship and the helping of growth and development of children. The data were collected for this study from Sep. 21, 1990 to Oct. 1. 1991 at E University Hospital. The sample was 83 of mothers who had normal newborns and 73 mothers who had high risk newborns .The instrument was Neonatal Perception Inventory(NPI) designed by the Broussard for the measurement of mothers' perception of newborns about Average Baby and Your Baby. The data were analysed by using an SPSS Program and include percentage mean, SD, t-test, ANOVA. The results of this study are as follows : 1. The normal newborn mothers' perception is more positive than the high-risk newborn mothers(t=7.94, p=0.000). 2. Mothers' perception of the newborns is not related significantly to mothers' general characteristics. In conclusion, in order to promote positive, healthy mother-infant relationship, the nurse need to support, give information, and educate high-risk newborn mothers through early nursing assessment.
This study was designed to compare the education needs in LBW infant's mother at discharge and after one month at home for development of the educational program. The subjects of this study consisted of 61 mothers of LBW infant's at discharge and 51 mothers of LBW infant's after one month at home. They were selected by convenience from 3 general hospitals and 1 pediatric hospital in Seoul, Kangreung and Inchon. The data were collected during the period from January, 5 to March, 15, 2000. The Education Needs for LBW infant Care was measured by Questionnaire that has developed by researchers. The data were analized by descriptive statistics, non-paired t-test & ANOVA using SAS. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The educational need, of the mothers of LBW infant at discharge were higher than the mothers of LBW infant after one month at home(t=8.72, p=.00). 2) There were significant associations between the educational needs of the mothers of LBW infant after one month at home and numbers of children(F=3.61, p=0.03). 3) There were significant associations of the educational needs between the mothers of LBW infant at discharge and the mothers of LBW infant after one month at home in categories and items. (1) There were significant associations by categories such as Infant care(t=8.34, p=.00), feeding(t=6.71, p=.00), unusual behavior (t=6.54, p=.00). Management disorder (t=8.67, p=.00), attachment between parents and infant(t=5.19, p=.00) and environment (t=6.14, p=.00). (2) There were two items that represented the highest educational needs in all items. That were "How about we can do when infant has a breathing disorder" and "How about we can do when infant has a seizure". These two items included Management of disorder category. In Conclusion, when the nurse teaching the method of infant care to mother, educational contents must be included about Management of disorder emphatically.
Neonatal intensive care in Korea has improved remarkably since the 1990s, but there is still a shortage of facilities and equipment in NICUs. Only 71.1% of the beds needed for neonatal intensive care are available. Mechanical ventilators are not appropriately distributed to the NICUs that are equipped to handle neonatal intensive care. The number of doctors is far too small, making the number of patients per doctor very high. Nurses, too, need to take care of 7.7 patients per nurse, making it very difficult to provide adequate intensive care. All this is caused by insufficient investment by the hospitals, which, in turn, is caused by inadequate reimbursement from health insurance. Therefore, a government-sponsored effort is necessary to bring the level of neonatal intensive care up to par.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the attitude of job transfer and job satisfaction in operating rooms, and to use this data towards efficient human resource management. Method: One hundred and seven nurses in operating rooms in a general hospital in Seoul, Korea were surveyed using a questionnaire. Data was collected and analyzed using SPSS/PC program. Results: The attitude toward the job transfer was generally favorable with a mean of 3.32 out of a 5 point scale in rating the need for job transfer. Among the five domains of attitudes toward job transfer, individual development scored the highest(mean, 3.75). The mean score of job satisfaction in the study participants was rated in a 5 point scale with a mean of 3.12. Among the seven domains of job satisfaction, networking(3.37) scored the highest, followed by the perspective of professional position(3.32). Therefore, it can be said that mutual interaction and professional position are the most important factors for job satisfaction. The correlation between the attitude toward job transfer and job satisfaction showed a positive relationship with a coefficient of 0.210, implying that job satisfaction was higher when the attitude toward transfer was more favorable. Conclusion: From the attitude toward job transfer, individual development and professional improvement was favorable, implying the need for such program. Therefore, it is recommended that an official policy should be provided to achieve these goals in perioperative nursing.
This study is a descriptive research to investigate the effects of nurses', job embeddedness and nursing work environment on turnover intention. The participants were conducted in 4 general hospitals with more than 300 hospital beds located in G metropolitan city and targeted 203 nurses who understood and agreed with the purpose of the study, and conducted from october to december 2019. The data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 program, frequency analyzed t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Multiple regression. The factors influencing on turnover intention of clinical nurses were found to have negative effects on job embeddedness and nursing work environment. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and train programs to increase the job embeddedness of clinical nurses. At the same time, efforts should be made to improve the nursing work environment to reduce the turnover intention of their.

Purpose: This study aimed to verify the relationship between human rights sensitivity, advocacy attitudes, and advocacy interventions for mentally disabled people in psychiatric nurses and nursing students. Methods: This is a descriptive study. Using questionnaires, data were collected from 206 participants who were recruited from one mental health institute, one general hospital, and one university in S city. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS/WIN 22. Results: The mean age was $33.8{\pm}12.89$. The mean scores of human rights sensitivity, advocacy attitudes, and advocacy intervention was $37.7{\pm}18.09$, $53.7{\pm}5.67$, and $47.4{\pm}7.08$, respectively. Human rights sensitivity correlated significantly with advocacy attitudes (r=.25, p=.020) and advocacy intervention (r=.17, p=.015). Also, there was a significant positive correlation between advocacy attitudes and advocacy intervention (r=.44, p<.001). Conclusion: These findings highlight that advocacy attitudes and advocacy interventions for mentally disabled people could be improved by increasing human rights sensitivity. Tailored education programs will be effective in the field of mental health care services to increase human rights sensitivity.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether Selection, Optimization and Compensation (SOC) Strategy mediated the relationship between job stress and health promoting behaviors among nurses. Methods: A descriptive causal relationship research design was used. 245 subjects recruited from the five general hospitals, which have over 500 beds in Seoul and Kyunggi-do, participated in the study by completing a survey which included questions about SOC strategy, job stress and health promoting behaviors. t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. SPSS/WIN 20.0 was used for all analysis. Results: The mean job stress score was 47.89; mean SOC strategy score was .71. 'Spiritual development' was the highest reported health promoting behavior with a mean of 3.57. Job stress was significantly and negatively related to health promoting behaviors. The result showed that all the mediating paths of SOC strategy were significant. The partial mediating model showed high goodness of fit demonstrating that the model was outstanding. Conclusion: SOC strategy mediated the relationship between job stress and health promoting behaviors. Applying better SOC strategies among nurses will increase flexibility in responding to job stress and will also better perform health promoting behaviors.

This study was conducted to investigate the practical experience of nurses in MERS patients care. Nine nurses in one general hospital in S city underwent in-depth interviews from August 2015 to March 2016. The collected data were analyzed according to the procedure of the phenomenological method of Colaizzi. The following five categories were derived: '1. Anxiety and burden due to the risk of transmission of new infectious diseases', '2. Social isolation because of being the nurse in charge of MERS patients', '3. Faced with problems due to an unprepared treatment environment', '4. Overcome the burdensome MERS patient care process', '5. Reflect on the steps for preparing against new infectious diseases'. These results suggest that it is important to draw positive experiences as well as the negative effects of nurses who are involved in treatment of various infectious diseases, including MERS. Based on this, it can be used as a basis for reducing negative psychological and social impacts and improving positive adaptation. Additionally, it is necessary for healthcare workers including nurses to establish the necessary workforces, departments and guidelines for nursing new infectious disease patients.
