공학계열 전공 선택 동기와 후회에 대한 남녀 차이 (Gender Disparity in Engineering: Why Chose an Engineering Major and Why Regret It?)

  • The underrepresentation of women in engineering has received considerable attention. A series of policies and practices have been developed to promote gender-balanced participation in engineering. This study focuses on gender disparities in reasons for the choice of engineering majors and regret of that choice. The regression results show that compared to their male counterparts, women are found to select an engineering major primarily based on their high school GPA or CSAT scores rather than their aptitudes and interests. Accordingly, women regret their major choice more than men due to mismatched expectations and abilities or unsatisfactory postgraduate labor market outcomes. The findings provide policy insights to improve gender equity in engineering by further enhancing career education in secondary schools.

  • What characteristics of computer games encourage persistence, engagement, and learning for both girls and boys\ulcorner The purpose in conducting this research was to identify characteristics of computer games that engage all children-girls and boys- in significant mathematical learning. A set of criteria for evaluating gender fair computer games was developed. Much of this research had involved observing children playing computer games in pairs and small groups. Two game softwares were analyzed by way of dialogues that occurred with the games.

해양의료관광지의 방문의도에 관한 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study on Visit Intention of Destination in Marine Health Tourism)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose, firstly, the definition of marine health tourism and empirically to analyse the effect of benefit sought and brand equity on visit intention of destination as marine health tourism. This study utilizes the PLS-SEM method in order to measure the overall model fitness level and statistical significance of all paths in proposed research model. As a result of the analysis, benefit sought factor like nature has a highest positive effect on brand equity(image and perceived quality) and also, on visit intention via brand equity. Specially, this study measures the non-linear of all the paths and shows the statistical significance that the more high health factor as benefit sought is, the preference for quality brands is more steeply. In addition, the measurement of the moderating effect of gender variables shows that female is the most sensitive than male on the path from health benefit sought to brand quality among all the paths. However, the definition of marine health tourism in this study is proposed according to the characteristics of a particular area. In this vein, the definition is needed to generalize more through follow-up study.

미취학 자녀를 둔 도시 맞벌이 부부의 여가시간에 관한 연구 (The Analysis of Leisure Time Use of Urban Dual-earner Couples with Preschool Children)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine gender equity in the quantity and flow experience of leisure time of urban dual-earner couples having preschool children. The quantity of leisure time is measured by primary activity and the flow experience of leisure time is measured by primary and secondary activities. The data collected by Korean National Statistical Office in 2004 is used. The sample for this study consists of 255 couples, and the statistical methods are frequency, percentage, paired t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The following is a summary of the major findings. The first, the pattern of the leisure time was different between husbands and wives. The quantity of leisure time of husbands was longer than that of wives. The husbands spent more time to perform social activities, media contact, sports and outdoor activities, while women did more in religious activities. The second, husband's leisure flow experience was higher than that of wives. The pure leisure time of wives was shorter than that of husbands and wives experienced more contaminated leisure time by a secondary activity. In other words, wives's leisure is more likely to be interrupted, to involve episodes of shorter duration, and to be associated with personal care and unpaid work.

  • Objectives : Child sexual abuse is a highly prevalent societal problem that cuts across all ethnic, racial, educational, and socioeconomic groups. There has been mounting empirical evidence for the efficacy of manual-based, cognitive behavioral treatment(CBT) for sexually abused children. Therefore, the aim of this review was to address the rationale and efficacy of CBT for sexually abused children, and to introduce a broad outline of a typical CBT program for young people suffering the emotional and behavioral consequences of sexual abuse. Methods : A selective literature review was undertaken. Results : To date, trauma-focused CBT is the most effective treatment for the sexually abused child. The rationale and efficacy of CBT was reviewed and a typical CBT program was outlined session by session. Conclusion : Based on trauma-focused CBT for sexually abused children, the results demonstrate the need for future development of a standard CBT program for the Korean population.

인구 사회학적 특성에 따른 안경구매자의 구매결정요소 비교 (Comparison of Purchasing Decision Factors for Eyeglasses Buyer according to Demographic Characteristics)

  • 목적: 안경 소비자의 안경에 대한 구매 결정 요인, 브랜드 자산, 구매만족 및 구전의도의 요소들을 비교 분석하고자 하였다. 방법: 2011년 10월부터 12월까지 2개월 동안 안경원을 통해 배포된 총 437부의 설문지를 분석하였다. 조사는 편의표본추출법을 이용하였고, 자기기입법(self-adminstration method)으로 응답하도록 하였다. 결과: 안경구매 소비자의 성별, 연령, 학력, 소득은 구매결정에 차이를 나타내는 변수로 작용하며, 인구사회학적 특성에 따라 브랜드자산 인식에 차이, 구매만족 및 구전의도에도 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 결론: 안경구매 소비자의 성별, 연령, 학력, 소득 등의 인구사회학적 특성은 구매결정에 차이를 나타내는 변수로 작용한다. 구매 만족은 연령에 의한 분류가 통계적 의미가 있으며 구전 의도는 소득수준에 따른 분류가 통계적으로 의의가 있다.

양성평등적 관점에 기초한 제 7차 교육과정 중학교 가정 교과서 삽화의 단원별 계량적 내용분석 (Content Analysis of Illustrations in the Middle School Home Economics Textbooks of the 7th Curriculum by Units from the Gender Equity Perspective)

  • 본 연구는 교육과정의 양성평등 실현이 중요한 정책과제의 하나로 대두되어온 교육내용에서의 평등을 실현하기 위해 제 7차 교육과정에 따라, 중학교 $\ulcorner$기술 $\cdot$ 가정$\lrcorner$교과서의 가정영역을 중심으로 삽화 속의 양성평등 분석을 통해 그 결과가 앞으로의 교육과정 개정에 따른 교과서 집필시 학생들의 양성평등의식을 지닐 수 있는 기초자료로 활용되어 전통적 성역할 고정관념에서 탈피할 수 있는 계기를 마련하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 이에 기존에 집필된 중학교 기술 $\cdot$가정 교과서 중 일선 학교에서 활용도가 높은 각 학년별 5개 출판사. 총 15권을 대상으로 삽화를 단원별로 계량분석을 실시하였다 연구결과를 살펴보면 양성평등적 관점에 기초한 제 7차 교육과정중학교 가정 교과서에는 제 4차. 5차. 6차 교육과정에 비해 성별 분포와 성별 구성. 둥장인물간의 관계 측면에서는 많이 개선되었다. 그러나 아직도 삽화에는 남녀의 출현과 관련하여 성 역할이나 활동 배경, 활동 묘사, 옷의 색과 옷차림 둥에서 남녀불평등이 나타나고 있었다. 등장인물의 상황을 고려한 평등 $\cdot$불평등적인 면에서는 평등이 불평등보다 다소 높게 나타났으나 삽화의 $40\%$가 불평등한 것으로 판단되어 개선이 요구된다. 교과서 집필 시 단원별로 저자가 구성된다는 점을 고려하여 단원별 차이를 분석한 결과로부터 시사점을 얻고. 단원별 상황을 보다 구체적으로 심층 분석할 수 있는 후속연구가 필요하다 이 연구를 바탕으로 교과서 집필에 양성평등적인 관점을 관철하는 데에 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있는 지침과 검정 기준을 마련해야 할 것이다.

관광목적지의 브랜드자산, 자아일치성, 애착 및 행동의도간의 관계 (The Relationship among Brand Equity, Corporate personality, Attachment and Consumer behavior)

  • 본 연구에서 관광목적지의 브랜드자산과 자아일치성간에 유의한 관계와 브랜드자산이 애착과 행동의도에 영향관계를 파악하고자 했다. 첫째, 관광목적지의 브랜드자산은 관광객 자아일치성에 유의한 영향을 미칠 것이다. 의가설을 검증하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였으며 브랜드자산은 자아일치성에 이미지와 충성도만이 유의한 관계를 나타내고 있었다. 둘째, 관광목적지의 자아일치성은 관광객 애착에 유의한 영향을 미칠 것이다. 가설을 검증하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였으며 자아일치성은 애착에 대하여 유의한 관계를 나타내고 있었다. 셋째, 관광목적지의 애착은 관광객 행동의도에 유의한 영향을 미칠 것이다. 가설을 검증하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였으며 애착은 행동의도에 대하여 유의한 관계를 나타내고 있었다.

An Estimate of the Mediation Effect of Risk Tolerance among Marital Status, Gender, and Investing Behavior

  • This paper presents a series of path models that were developed to test whether financial risk tolerance mediates the association between the following four variables and investing behavior: (a) male and married, (b) female and married, (c) male and single, or (d) female and single. Data for this study were obtained from a proprietary consumer survey of risk-tolerance attitudes. Four path models were developed to test relationships among the variables in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. These years were chosen to represent the depth and recovery periods in the Great Recession. The total number of respondents was 29,641. Findings showed that financial risk tolerance was positively associated with risky investing behavior (i.e., equity ownership) in each of the four periods. The associations among the gender-marital status variables and investing behavior were mixed; however, findings did indicate that risk tolerance mediates these relationships by sometimes amplifying and occasionally attenuating risky behavior. Based on the findings, implications and limitation are presented.

임금비교에 있어서 비교대상 및 비교기준에 관한 연구 (A Study on Referents and Inputs in Pay Comparisons)

  • This study has two purposes. One is to systematize a number of referents and to examine the types of comparisons. The other is to examine categories of comparative standards such as inputs in equity theory. In pay comparison process, referents and inputs are very important elements. The first factor analysis is related to referents, which include 18 variables in 6 categories were subjected to factor analysis. 3 factors emerge with an eigenvalue of 1.0 or greater. Factor I, economic need, includes referents in personal worth and system referent. Factor II, market comparison, includes internal and external referents except one variable(external-peer). Between internal and external referents is not distinguished. This result is corresponded with Hills'(1980) and Hong's(1995) findings. FactorIII is named 'historical/social comparisons'. 14 inputs are subjected to the second factor analysis. 3 factors emerge with an eigenvalue of 1.0 or greater. The 5 variables loading on factor I, equity standard, are responsibility, competency, effort, outcome, and skill. FactorII, equality standard, includes age, gender, and education. FactorIII, seniority standard, includes career and company tenure. All the factors are positively associated with each other. Especially, personal worth is associated with equity standard(r=0.50466). Internal and external referents are associated with any comparative standard.
