  • In this study, the increasing gear boxes for the high speed vertical in-line centrifugal pump are developed through rotor dynamic analysis. The developed increasing gear boxes are two kinds fur 18000rpm and 25000rpm at the output shaft. The gear sets suitable for high speed and high load are manufactured by investigating AGMA bending strength and AGMA surface strength severely. The rotor dynamic analysis on gear sets and bearings is performed in order to avoid the critical speeds and other troubles. As a result of study, the two increasing gear boxes for the high speed vertical in-line centrifugal pump are designed and maunfactured.

  • As for the marine propulsion shafting system using 4 stroke diesel engine, it is common to apply a reduction gear box between diesel engine and shafting to increase propulsion efficiency, which requires inevitably a certain elastic coupling to avoid chattering and hammering inside of gear box. In this study, the optimum method of rectifying propulsion shafting system in case of 750 ton fishing vessel is theoretically studied in a view of dynamic characteristics of torsion. After the replacement of diesel engine and gear box, the torsional vibration get worse and so some countermeasures are needed. The elastic coupling is modified from a present rubber coupling of block type having relatively high torsional stiffness to a rubber coupling haying two serially connected elements. Torsional vibration damper was installed at crankshaft free end additionally and moment of inertia of flywheel was adjusted. The dynamic characteristics of shafting system was improved by these modification. The theoretical analysis of torsional vibration are compared to measurement results using two laser torsion meters during the sea trial.

  • This paper descrived housing design in conception of dynamic characteristics. The vibration and noise in power train system of automobile are important on the environment matter. The vibration caused by meshing teeth of gear is transmitted to the gear box faces through shafts and bearings. Shape of housing is used different radius of curvature(R=0 to 80 mm). The velocity responese, sound power and radiation efficency on the surface of gear box are calculated. The sound power and radiation efficency are compared with different radius of curvature.

  • Unstable torsional vibration on the marine ship's propulsion shafting system with diesel engine occurred due to a slippage of multi-friction clutch which was installed between increasing gear and shaft generator. In this paper, the mechanism of this vibration was verified via torsional, whirling, axial and structural vibration measurements of shafting system and noise measurement of gear box. And it was also identified by the theoretical analysis method.

  • A torsional vibration analysis of a multi-stage reduction gear box connected to a gas turbine system is presented. For a free vibration analysis the Modified Hibner Branch Method, so called "Blank Matrix Method", and the .lambda.-Matrix Method are used in the modeling and the eigenvalue solution, respectively. Also, a short circuit forced analysis of the system is performed, utilizing the energy method modeling. It is shown that the results of the free vibration analysis have the same tendency as those of the short circuit analysis. analysis.

  • The gear-reduction units of Korean high-speed trains consist of a motor reduction unit, an axle gear box reduction unit, and a tripod joint shaft. A reduction gear unit is a gearbox used to reduce the rotational speed of the input shaft to a slower rotational speed on the output shaft. This reduction in output speed helps to increase torque. Defective reduction gear units in high-speed trains are caused by damage to the gear or by gear fatigue. To diagnose potential problems, it is important to know the vibration characteristics of the reduction gear units. In this study, we analyzed the vibration characteristics of reduction gears under various conditions. The test setup included a full-scale test rig to evaluate reduction gear under both normal and extreme operating conditions.

  • In this study. the noise sources were identified and the noise and vibration were reduced for an industrial forklift. To identify the noise sourses, noise signals were measured by a microphone on a driver seat and these signals were analyzed with a waterfall plot. For this purpose, the gear mesh frequencies from the gear box of a reducer were not only investigated but noise/vibration sourses of an electric motor were also examined. Furthermore, the frequency response functions were obtained to confirm the vibration and noise sourses. It was found that severe vibration and noise were generated in the casing and the connecting part of the reducer. The severe vibration and noise could be reduced by a structure modification.

  • Transient vibration generated by developing localized fault in gear can be used as indicators in gear fault detection. This vibration signal suffers from the background noise such as gear meshing frequency and its harmonics and broadband noise. Thus in order to extract the information about the only gear fault from the raw vibration signal measured on the gearbox this signal is processed to reduce the background noise with many kinds of signal-processing tools. However, these signal-processing tools are often very complex and time waste. Thus. in this paper. we propose a novel approach detecting the damage of gearbox and analyzing its pattern using the raw vibration signal. In order to do this, the residual signal. which consists of the sideband components of the gear meshing frequent) and its harmonics frequencies, is extracted from the raw signal by the power spectral density (PSD) to obtain the information about the fault and is used as the input data of the artificial neural network (ANN) for analysis of the pattern of gear fault. This novel approach has been very successfully applied to the damage analysis of a laboratory gearbox.

  • For analyzing the torsional vibration of a multiple stepped gear system containing a pair of triple gears, a transfer matrix model based on Hibner's branch method is developed and the natural properties of the branched rotor system are calculated with using the $\lambda$-matrix formulation. A Campbell diagram, in which the excitation sources caused by the mass unbalances of the rotors and the transmitted errors of thegearings are considered, shows that, at the neighborhood of the operating speed, there are the four critical speeds amplifying the first mode and the fifth mode. For the surpression of the gear box vibration, two ways are suggested by referring the mode shapes.

  • In order for Hypoid gear development. Gears are required to sustain heavy loads or on applications where the gear box is made or a material with a different coefficient of thermal expansion form that or the gears and shafts, it is desirable to make a deflection and contact check under load. The deflection test is performed in the actual gear mounting using completely processed gear. This test should cover the full operating range of gear loads from no load to peak load. Under peak load the contact pattern should extend to the tooth boundaries without showing a concentration of the contact pattern at any point on the tooth surface.
