The behaviors of flame propagation and quenching ability in a pipe were investigated to make a design criteria of flame arrester. The effects of the number of wire gauzes and free area on the quenching ability were discussed. Experimental results showed that the flame velocity was important factor of the quenching ability. The flame velocity in case of closed pipe was increased about twenty times faster then that of opened. The quenching ability was increased about 10% with 3% decrease of free area and it was changed significantly by the sealing condition of the pipe end. The quenching flame velocity can be estimated by using experimental equations.

The authors treated a 58-year old female patient who had come to the Department of Oral Medicine, KNUH due to the chief complaints of gingival enlargement and bleeding on the upper and lower jaw. The lesions were diagnosed as cyclosporin-A induced gingival enlargement by patient's history and clinical examination. The patient was treated with gingivectomy using pulsed Nd:YAG laser. After gingivectomy the wound was compressed with 0.1% chlorhexidine-soaked gauze to prevent relapse of the lesion. Good healing process was observed and there were no recurrences until 3-month follow-up visit. From the results of this clinical trial it was suggested that a pulsed Nd:YAG laser gingivectomy would be helpful for the treatment of cyclosporin-A induced gingival enlargement in renal transplant patients.

과테말라의 알타 베라파즈 지역에서 원주민들의 민속의상의 하나인 Huipil 재료로 생산되는 반투명의 백생 무명 수직물은 독특한 직조기법과 구성을 보이고 있다. 이에 대한 부분적인 연구는 O'neale 과 Osborne 등에 의하여 이루어 졌으며, 본고에서는 이들 연구를 기초로 이 지역의 Huipil 재료의 직조과정과 기법에 대하여 고찰하였다. 또한 구체적인 직물구조의 분석은 Iowa 주립대학의 직물소장품중 4점의 이지역 Huipil 재료를 실측하여 이들 각각의 전체적인 구조와 기본적인 직조방법, 그리고 무늬를 형상하는 기법에 대하여 검토하엿다. 본 고찰을 통하여 이 지역에서 생산된 Huipil은 대부분 원시적인 형태의 직조기에 의해 완성되었으며 복잡한 무늬를 짤 경우에도 보조적인 도구는 사용되지 않고 특유의 수직기법에 의해 이루어졌음을 밝혓다. 또한 Huipil의 바탕은 plain weave, gauze, 도는 brocade의 변형으로 구성되었으며 바탕과 무늬의 변화는 실의 굵기의 변화로 더욱 강조되어 독특한 효과를 나타내고 있다.

This study developed a test with a high test-retest reliability consisting of 18 items by selecting from Korean adjectives describing tactile sensations. Principal components were extracted by three repeated measurements of 19 different fabrics for underwear. Adjectives such as 'smooth' 'soft' 'sexy' 'comfortable' and 'cozy' were most discriminating between preferred and non-preferred fabrics. The fabrics were analyzed by Kawabata Evaluation System in 16 mechanical properties, then these properties were analyzed by regression analyses as to their relations with human sensation and sensibility. Among the fabrics, the most preferred were made of polyester whereas the least preferred were made of gauze and cotton. Mechanical properties were identified that were related to the most discriminating adjectives such as 'smooth', 'soft', 'sexy,' and 'cozy'.

The water gas shift conversion catalyst prepared by the American Cyanamide Co. was subjected to fluidization in a 2-in. Pyrex glass tube to obtain the basic fluidization characteristic data. The size of the catalyst charged ranged from 70 to 120 meshes and it was supported on a single layer 300-mesh wire gauze through which the fluidizing medium, the air, was passed. Following are some data and facts found by the authors: (1) The catalyst particles were porous, and their surfaces were trough and irregular. (2) The average effective particle density and the average shape factor of these particles were 152.2 lb/$ft^3$ and 0.865 respectively. (3) As the particle diameter of the catalyst increased, the minimum fluid voidage of the bed decreased slightly. (4) Just before the incipient fluidization, pressure drop suddenly fell and the bed expanded simultaneously. (5) After fluidization set in, the expansion characteristics of the catalyst bed were similar to those of sand and glass beads except intense bubbling in the catalyst bed.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the dresses appeared in Nogultai. In the analysis of this study names and kinds of fabrics, colors, motifs, places of production and names of dresses were examined. In the study various kinds of fabric colors and motifs of fabrics were appeared in Nogulta. Also a variety of silks such s brocade, damask, plain silks, ra, silk gauze, hemp cloth, cotton cloth, wool and fur were found. Colors of fabrics were of blue, green, indigo blue, red, light blue, brown, yellow, black and white were described. Mostly cleouds, flowers and mixtures of floral designs were used in silk brocades, Walrus was motif the only animal revealed in silk brocade. Nanching, Hanchaw, Suchaw were famous production centers of silk damasks, silk gauge and silk ra. Also Shantung and Suchaw produced good quality plain silk. Various kinds of coats, waded coat, wadded short coat, inner jackets, vest trousers, winter cap were included. Also accessories such as belt, cap, boots, socks, money belt, pouch were described. In addition, cosmetics, cosmetic kits and names of semi precious stones were mentioned. Seasonal garments differed according to kinds of fabrics and materials used. Wadded coat, wadded short coat, vest, winter cap and wool socks appeared as winter wear.

Three-dimensional(3D) virtual clothing simulation system may require the use of physical, mechanical, and configurational data in order to mimic the actual clothing with high degree of realism. Therefore the 3-dimensional scanning system based on optical methods was adopted to extract the 3-dimensional data of the fabric surface. In this study, the appearances of the 3-dimensionally transformed textile fabrics via several finishing procedures were investigated using a 3D scanning system. The wool gauze fabrics treated with the shrink-proof finishing and the felting process showed height changes up to 4.5mm. The 3-dimensional configuration may be objectively described by the use of mesh generation from the scanned output. The generated mesh information may further be utilized in the 3D virtual clothing simulation system for accurate description of the fashionable textile materials used in the simulation system.

History of fashion and clothing is needed to understand modern fashion and to predict Future mode. The period of Romanticism in fine arts was from the end 18th century up to the first half of 19th century. The characteristics of shilouttes were found in the emphasis owomen's body line. This feature of romantic fashion is founded in 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990'mode. Major characters of this times are retro of romantic costume. As time goes by, more romantic fashion was set up and new corncern of 2000 fashion trend. The Characteristics of romantic image in 2000 of fashion trend are the emphasis of romantic details and decorations. Such as ruffle, frill, shirring, beads, spangle, sequin, flower. Trend colors are pink, lilac, aqua blue, yellow, green, pastel color. Trend materials chiffon, organza, satin, velvet, gauze, georgette, lace and glittery material. And floral print and stripe print. Forward­looking fashion is ethnic­romantic image influenced India. Trend and fashion have very close relationship and if it is fully comprehended, it will be good opportunity to awkardness againnst new fashion line.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the transition of luster material after the tweentieth century. This study was conducted by means of designer collection, journal of fashion, museum data, fabric exhibition and Internet data. The results of this study were as follows: Before the synthetic fiber period, the luster materials were used satin, chamuse, gauze, damask brocade and velvet, except cashmere, mohair and rayon. They are made from silk by the way of giving difference surface property. But since 1960s, it has used not only synthetic fiber with smooth surface but also vinyl, latex, natural leather, synthetic leather and metal. Luster material recently has a tendency to natural and soft shiny, example silket finish, chintz finish, silico coating finish with paper touch feel and so forth.
