This study addresses the phenomena of bubbling, icing, eruption, component varieties of the evaporated natural gas, and volumetric heat transfer coefficients obtained during the operation of a proposed LNG evaporator between LNG and water in direct contact. In the present investigation, the explosive and eruption phenomena within the water column were not observed during the entire operation of the heat exchanger. Compared with the natural gas produced by conventional LNG evaporator, the analysis of the gas produced by the direct contact LNG evaporator shows that nitrogen, methane, and ethane components were reduced by 0.002~0.007mol%(4~14%), 1.6~1.92mol%(1.9~2.3%) and 0.17~1.28mol%(1.1~8.4%) respectively, while the moisture content was rather increased by 0.51~0.76mol%. The maximum volumetric heat transfer coefficient of the direct contact heat exchanger was found to be $21, 800kW/m^3\cdotK$.
In order to predict gas hold-up and oxygen transfer rate during sisomicin fermentation employing air lift fermentor, simulated media similar to fermentation broths in rheological proper- ties were prepared and used. Rheological properties of fermentation broths from 40 hours and 60 hours of cultivation were analyzed by applying to Power's Law equation. Regardless of addition and no addition of MgSO$_{4}$, the tendencies, that n value was decreased and K value was increased as aeration rate was increased, were shown. Simulated media of twelve different fermentation broths were formulated in a range of 0.7 to 2.1% CMC, and the values of gas hold-up and k$_{L}$a depending on superficial air velocity were measured using these simulated media. And the relation- ships, $\varepsilon$=$\alpha$U$_{Gr}$$\beta$, K$_{L}$a=$\gamma$U$_{Gr}$$\delta$ were obtained, and these equations are thought to be used to predict the values of gas hold-up and k$_{L}$a during fermentation.
Although there are many different solution schemes proposed for multidimensional radiative transfer, reference solutions to benchmark these methods are very rare in the literature. In this paper we produced some accurate solutions for purely absorbing gray and nongray gases including H$_2$O and CO$_2$by using the discrete transfer method with sufficiently accurate T(sub)95 quadrature set. The spectral transmittances of the mixtures of H$_2$O and CO$_2$are estimated by using the narrow band model. The gray gas solutions are obtained for different absorption coefficients, and the nongray real gas solutions are obtained for different mixture fractions of H$_2$O and CO$_2$. The numerical solutions presented in this paper are proved to be sufficiently accurate as compared to the available exact solutions and they may be used as reference solutions in evaluating various solution schemes.
A three-dimensional porous structure was fabricated by pattern transfer printing for applications of electrodes in gas sensors. To form replica patterns, solutions were mixed with acetone, toluene, heptane, and poly(methyl methacrylate). These replica patterns can also be formed on substrates such as polyimide, polydimethylsiloxane, and silicon. The wide range of line widths from 1 to $5{\mu}m$ was derived from the surface grating patterns of master substrates. The cross-bar pattern with 40 layers showed a thickness of 600 nm. The area of platinum transferred patterns with different line widths was enhanced to $20{\times}25mm$, which is applicable to various electrode patterns of gas sensors.
The purpose of this study is to enhance heat insulation effect and to decrease fire hazard by attaching aluminum foil to expanded polystyrene, which is mainly used for insulating materials, to have fire retardant. The result of the test confirmed that the insulating materials, expanded polystyrene of $10kg/m^3$ and $14kg/m^3$ of density attached aluminum foil on both sides, showed 12%, 14% of improved heat transfer coefficient respectively compared to existing expanded polystyrene of the same density. Besides, they met all the standards for the testing of heat release and gas hazard. On the other hand, the one made of general expanded polystyrene could not meet the standards of the heat release test and the gas hazard test.

The flowfield of hypersonic shock-shock interaction has been simulated using a two-dimensional Navier-Stokes code based on AUSMPW+ scheme. AUSMPW+ scheme is a new hybrid flux splitting scheme, which is improved by introducing pressure-based weight functions to eliminate the typical drawbacks of AUSM-type schemes, such as non-monotone pressure solutions. To study the real gas effects, three different gas models are taken into account in the present paper: perfect gas, equilibrium flow and non equilibrium flow. It has been investigated how each gas model influences on the peak surface loading, such as wall pressure and wall heat transfer, and unsteady structure of flowfield in the region of shock-shock interaction. With the results, the value of peak pressure is not sensitive to the real gas effects nor to the wall catalyticity. However, the value of peak heat transfer rates is affected by the real gas effects and the wall catalyticity. Also, the structure of the flowfield changes drastically in the presence of real gas effects.
The system-integrated modular advanced reactor 100 (SMART100), an integral-type pressurized water small modular reactor, is based on a novel design concept for containment cooling and radioactive material reduction; it is known as the containment pressure and radioactivity suppression system (CPRSS). There is a passive cooling system using a condensation with non-condensable gas in the SMART CPRSS. When a design basis accident such as a small break loss of coolant accident (SBLOCA) occurs, the pressurized low containment area (LCA) of the SMART CPRSS leads to steam condensation in an incontainment refuelling water storage tank (IRWST). Additionally, the steam and non-condensable gas mixture passes through the CPRSS heat exchanger (CHX) submerged in the emergency cooldown tank (ECT) that can partially remove the residual heat. When the steam and non-condensable gas mixture passes through the CHX, the non-condensable gas can interrupt the condensation heat transfer in the CHX and it degrades CHX performance. In this study, condensation heat transfer experiments of steam and non-condensable gas mixture in the natural circulation loop were conducted. The pressure, temperature, and effects of the non-condensable gas were investigated according to the constant inlet steam flow rate with non-condensable gas injections in the loop.
The variations of gas hold-up, overall volumetric oxygen mass transfer coefficients and liquid circulation velocity in an internal loop reactor were investigated to manifest scale-up effect. The relationship between superficial gas velocity and gas hold-up were found as Ugr = 0.045 $\varepsilon$r in the pilot-scale and Ugr = 0.056 $\varepsilon$r in the bench-scale reactor. The overall volumetric oxygen mass tractsfer coefficient, KLa was slightly increased in the pilot-scale than in the bench-scale reactor. Flow regime was changed from the bubble flow to the churn-turbulent flow when the superficial gas velocity reached to 3.5 - 4 cm/sec in the pilot-scale.
