Oil contamination soil has been one of the most environmental social issues for decades in the inside and outside of country. The law of soil environmental preservation was carried out in the 1990s and the government controlled not only soil environment management and the remediation of contaminated soil but also promoted the development of remedial technology and cleanup business of contaminated soil by national policy. In addition to agriculture areas, the main oil contaminated sites are a gas station, oil reservoir, petro-chemical complex, site of railway carriage base and military camp. The contamination-frequency of agriculture area and effect sites are low but it has significantly important area on account of producing food for human beings. Therefore, we should be concerned about oil contamination damage of agriculture area. The oil contamination damage of agriculture area influenced drop of birth and breeding since the oil directly adheres to seeds and farm products even diffusion of contaminated soil to cultivation area. The studies of the crops and the food vegetation has not enough detailed data caused by the incident of oil contamination. This study investigated the effect of oil in germination and growth of selected plant seeds. In this study, we try to verify whether the oil contamination by accidents on farmland influenced the damage of farm produce and the mutual relation both oil contaminated soil or the vegetation of crops. The impact of oil on plant development was followed by phytotoxicity assessments. The plants exhibited visual symptoms of stress, growth reduction and perturbations in developmental parameters. The increase of the degree of pollution induced more marked effects in plants, likely because of the physical effects of oil. The relationships between the phytotoxicity contents of plants and growth reduction suggest a chemical toxicity of fuel oil. In addition, while cleaned up the contaminated soil under the standard of contaminated soil we examined it was suitable for region standard and it may have practical possibility for fill material of construction of afforestation and molding soil of landfill.

In order to meet the strict emission regulations for internal combustion engines based on fossil fuel, the proportion of after-treatments for vehicles and vessels is gradually increasing. Diesel engines have high power, good fuel economy, and lower $CO_2$ emissions, and their market shares are increasing in commercial vehicles and passenger cars. However, NOx is generated in the localized high-temperature combustion regions, and particulate matter is formed in the zones of diffusion combustion. LNT and urea-SCR catalysts have been developed for after-treatment of the exhaust gas to reduce NOx in diesel vehicles. This study aims to improve the NOx reduction performance of Cu SCR catalyst, which is widely used in light, medium, and heavy-duty diesel engines. The de-NOx performance of $5Cu-2ZrO_2$/93Zeolyst(Si/Al=13.7) SCR catalyst was about 5-50% higher than that of $5Cu-2ZrO_2$/93Zeolite(Si/Al=2.9) at catalyst temperatures of $300^{\circ}C$ or higher. The zeolite had lower metal dispersion than zeolyst, and the reaction rate of the catalyst decreased as the average particle size increased. The $10Cu-2ZrO_2$/88Zeolyst catalyst loaded with 10wt% Cu had the highest NOx conversion rate of 40% at $200^{\circ}C$ and about 65% at $350^{\circ}C$. The ion exchange rate of Cu ions increased with that of Al, the crystalline compound of zeolite, and the de-NOx performance was improved by 20-40% compared to other catalysts.

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) were grown on a Si wafer by using thermal chemical vapor deposition (t-CVD). We investigated the effect of the catalyst deposition rate on the types of CNTs grown on the substrate. In general, smaller islands of catalyst occur by agglomeration of a catalyst layer upon annealing as the catalyst layer becomes thinner, which results in the growth of CNTs with smaller diameters. For the same thickness of catalyst, a slower deposition rate will cause a more uniformly thin catalyst layer, which will be agglomerated during annealing, producing smaller catalyst islands. Thus, we can expect that the smaller-diameter CNTs will grow on the catalyst deposited with a lower rate even for the same thickness of catalyst. The 0.5-nm-thick Fe served as a catalyst, underneath which Al was coated as a catalyst support as well as a diffusion barrier on the Si substrate. The catalyst layers were. coated by using thermal evaporation. The deposition rates of the Al and Fe layers varied to be 90, 180 sec/nm and 70, 140 sec/nm, respectively. We prepared the four different combinations of the deposition rates of the AI and Fe layers. CNTs were synthesized for 10 min by flowing 60 sccm of Ar and 60 sccm of $H_2$ as a carrier gas and 20 sccm of $C_2H_2$ as a feedstock at 95 torr and $810^{\circ}C$. The substrates were subject to annealing for 20 sec for every case to form small catalyst islands prior to CNT growth. As-grown CNTs were characterized by using field emission scanning electron microscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis NIR spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The fast deposition of both the Al and Fe layers gave rise to the growth of thin multiwalled CNTs with the height of ${\sim}680\;{\mu}m$ for 10 min while the slow deposition caused the growth of ${\sim}800\;{\mu}m$ high SWCNTs. Several radial breathing mode (RBM) peaks in the Raman spectra were observed at the Raman shifts of $113.3{\sim}281.3\;cm^{-1}$, implying the presence of SWCNTs (or double-walled CNTs) with the tube diameters 2.07~0.83 nm. The Raman spectra of the as-grown SWCNTs showed very low G/D peak intensity ratios, indicating their low defect concentrations.
The roof structural model of liquid manure storage tank was designed to improve a structural safety and an ability of resistance to corrosion by the bad environmental condition with high humidity and high gas concentration. Due to corrosion of a general steel, the 5 years used materials were reduced to one-third of a new material in the result of a bending strength test. Some structural materials were tested to evaluate a strength and an anti-corrosion, and stainless steel pipe (STS439), steel angle with zinc hot dipping, rectangular steel pipe covered with FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) resin were selected finally. A stainless steel is more expansive about $3{\sim}5$ times than general structural steel. But its durability under heavy corrosive environment is expected twice as long as general steel. The roof models were designed as closed cone type for each of the three structural materials. In the result of a FEM (Finite Element Method) structural analysis for the developed models, the safe snow depth was higher 2.3 times than a general roof structure, when elements of equal section modulus were used.
The primary utilization of recently improved (U-Th)/He thermochronometry is to reveal the low-T thermal histories of shallow crustal sections or transient episodes (such as wildfires or meteorite impacts) because of the high sensitivity of He diffusion to temperature in host minerals. In this contribution, we present reviews and perspectives regarding how this method can be used to characterize the ejection-related shock metamorphism of Martian meteorites. The temperature conditions of shock metamorphism can be constrained through shock recovery experiments, paleomagnetism, and $^{40}Ar/^{39}Ar$ and (U-Th)/He dating. The most reliable constraints can be deduced when these independent approaches are combined. However, the thermal history of the ALH84001 Martian meteorite has been under serious debate because the different methods have yielded contrasting results. Recent work has shown how single-grain (U-Th)/He and $^{40}Ar/^{39}Ar$ dating, two noble-gas based thermochronometries with different T sensitivities, can be used to resolve this issue, providing a good example for future research on other meteorites.
Photosynthetic variation in field grown soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr. cv Hodgson78] was studied in relation to leaf anatomical variation. Variations in mesophyll morphology were accentuated by manipulating source and sink size. At R3 stage, two treatments were started: one was thinning and continu-ous debranching(6. 5 plants rather than 26 plants per m of row and remaining plants were debranched weekly), and the other was continuous partial depodding (allowing only one pod to develop at each mainstem node). Gas exchange characteristics, mesophyll cell volume and surface area per unit leaf surface, and microclimatic parameters were measured on the intact terminal leaflet at the 10th node. Observations were made 5 times with 3 to 4 day intervals starting R4 stage. Two models were used to compute leaf photosynthetic rates: one considered no effect of mesophyll morphology on photosynthesis, and the other considered potential effects of variations in mesophyll cell volume and surface area on diffusion and biochemical processes. Seventy nine percent of total photosynthetic variations observed in the experiment was explained by the latter, while 69% of the same variations was explained by the former model. By incorporating the mesophyll morphology concept, the predictability was improved by 14.6% in the field condition. Additional Index Words: photosynthesis model, leaf anatomy, Glycine max (L.) Merr., mesophyll surface area, mesophyll cell volume.

Indium-Tin Oxide (ITO) films were prepared on the commercial glass substrate by the Magnetron Sputtering method. The target was a 90wt.% $In_2O_3$-10wt.% $SnO_2$with 99.99% purity. The ITO films deposited by changing the partial pressure of oxygen gas ($O_2$/(Ar+$O_2$)) of 2, 3 and 5% as well as by changing the substrate temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ or $500^{\circ}C$. The influence of substrate pre-annealing and pre-cleaning on the quality of ITO film were examined, in which the substrate temperature was $500^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure was 3%. The characteristics of films were examined by the 4-point probe, Hall effect measurement system, SEM, AFM, Spectrophotometer, and X-ray diffraction. The optimum ITO films have been obtained when the substrate temperature is $500^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure is 3%. At optimum condition, the film showed transmittance of 81%, sheet resistivity of $226\Omegatextrm{cm}^2$, resistivity($\rho$) of $5.4\times10^{-3}\Omega$cm, carrier concentration of $1.0\times10^{19}cm^{-3}$, and carrier mobility of $150textrm{cm}^2$Vsec. From XRD spectrum, c(222) plane was dominant in the case of substrate temperature at $300^{\circ}C$, without regarding to oxygen partial pressure. However, in the case of substrate temperature at $500^{\circ}C$, c(400) plane was grown together with c(222) plane, only for oxygen partial pressure of 2 and 3%. In both case of chemical and ultrasonic cleaning without pre-annealing the substrate, it showed much almost same sheet resistivity, resistivity($\rho$), transmittance, carrier concentration, and carrier mobility. In case of $500^{\circ}C$/60min pre-annealing before ITO film deposited, both transimittance and carrier mobility are better than no pre-annealing, because pre-annealing is supposed to remove alkari ions diffusion from substrate. ITO film deposited on the Corning 0080 sybstrate showed a little bit better sheet resistivity, resistivity($\rho$), transimittance, carrier concentration than the film deposited on commercial glass. But no differences between Corning substrate and pre-annealed commercial glass substrate are found.

The purpose of this study is to establish effective conditions for controlling $CH_4$, $N_2O$ emission from organic Waste / wastewater treatment processes. Continuous and batch experiments were conducted to treat the micro algae from polluted and eutrophicated lakes through the thermophilic oxic process. The microalgae used were mainly Microcystis sp.(collected from eutrophic lake) and Chlorella sp. (cultured in laboratory) Wasted cooking oil was added by aid-heating source. Physico-chemical components of sludges and microalgae were analyzed. In batch experiments, air supply was changed from 50ml/min to 150ml/min. The temperature. water content and drained water were affected by the air flow rate at initial stage. However, there was almost no influence of air flow rate on them in middle and last stages. At air flow rate of 100ml/min, the degradation rate of organic material was higher than that at other air flow rates. $CO_2$ concentration in exhaust was proportional to the strength of aeration, especially at initial stage when degradation was active. $CH_4$ with low concentration was detected only at starting stage when air diffusion was not enough. $N_2O$ production was not affected by variation of air supply. In continuous experiments no matter what the dewatering methods (with PAC and without PAC) and media (wood chip and reed chip) were changed, $N_2O$ was almost not affected by variation of injected air. Result showed that the reed chips using for lake purification could be used as media for thermophilic oxic process in lake and marshes area. $CO_2$ concentration was not so much affected by the change of dewatering methods and media types. $CH_4$ was not detected in the experimental period. So it can be shown that the thermophilic oxic process had been well operated in wide handling conditions regardless of media and dewatering methods.
Recently, the use of formic acid as a fuel for direct liquid fuel cells has emerged as a promising alternative to methanol. In the work presented herein, we evaluated direct formic acid fuel cells(DFAFCs) with various components under operating conditions, for example, the thickness of the proton exchange membrane, concentration of formic acid, gas diffusion layer, and commercial catalyst. The thickness of the proton exchange membrane influenced performance related to the fuel cross-over. To optimize the cell performance, we investigated on the proper concentration of formic acid and catalyst for the formic acid oxidation. Consequently, membrance-electrode assembly(MEA) consisted of $Nafion^{(R)}$-115 and the Pt-Ru black as a anode catalyst showed the maximum performance. This performance was superior to the DMFCs' one.

Cryogenic spray characteristics of a nitrogen swirl injector operating in supercritical environment have been numerically investigated. By comparing the equation of states(EOS) used for supercritical condition, SRK EOS was applied to predict the nitrogen thermodynamic property under supercritical environment. A Chung's method was implemented for the calculation of viscosity and conductivity and Takahashi's correlation based on Fuller's Theorem was implemented for the calculation of diffusion coefficient. By injecting the nitrogen with 5 bar differential pressure into 50 bar chamber filled with nitrogen, numerical simulation has been conducted. The dynamic Smagorinsky sub-grid scale (SGS) model has been compared with the algebraic Smagorinsky SGS model using FFT frequency analysis. The instability at the liquid film and gas core inside injector and the propagation of pressure oscillation into the injector has been investigated. The spreading angle of swirl injector obtained by numerical calculation has been validated with experimental result.
