  • This paper presents a neural network approach to control exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) in a Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) engine. In order to meet Increasingly stringent automotive exhaust emission regulations, alternative fuels such as LPG engines have been developed in many countries. HC&CO emissions of LPG engines can be easily reduced through air-fuel ratio control, but the control effect on NOx reduction is not good enough. Consequently EGR system is introduced to achieve a significant reduction in NOx emissions. Conventional EGR control uses the mapping method.   • The present study has been conducted to simulate dynamics of a gas engine-driven heat pump (GHP) for design of control algorithm. The dynamics modeling of a GHP was based on conservation laws of mass and energy. For automatic control of refrigerant pressures, actuators such as engine speed, outdoor fans, coolant three-way valves and liquid injection valves were PI or P controlled. The simulation results were found to be realistic enough to apply for control algorithm design. The model can be applied to build a virtual real-time GHP system so that it interfaces with a real controller in purpose of prototyping control algorithm.

  • We have studied a properly of N-docosyl pyridinium(TCNQ) Langmuir-Blodgett film at room temperature with the $NO_2$ gas-detection characteristics. As a result, we have found that their conductivities were increased by 6 times at 5 layers(about $250{\AA}$ thickness) LB film. However, their reproducibility was not able to be measured at room temperature. Therefore, we must find their working temperature which was able to activate gas-detection characteristics. The $NO_2$ gas response experiments under 200 ppm concentration in $50^{\circ}C$ show that :here are increment of electrical conductivity by 8 times and 100 seconds of response time, and 200 seconds of recovery times at $60^{\circ}C$.

  • 추력조절이 가능한 가변유동형 덕티드 로켓(VFDR; Variable Flow Ducted Rocket)의 기초연구 목적으로 가스발생기와 유량조절장치를 개발하여 지상연소시험을 수행하였다. 연소시험을 통하여 본 개발에 대한 내열성, 연소시간, 압력 및 온도와 같은 성능 요구조건의 충족 여부를 확인하였으며 Boron/MgAl/AP 등을 혼합한 연료농후 고체추진제의 연소특성을 분석하였다. 유량조절장치는 Plunger 타입으로 개발하여 토출면적 조절로 유량 및 압력을 제어할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 그러나 토출 유로 내 연소 생성물 부착으로 인한 토출면적 감소에 따라 압력 안정화 구간 없이 연소압력이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 토출면적 감소로 인한 압력증가의 연소특성 분석은 본 논문의 Part 2에서 다루어진다.

실제기체 상태방정식을 이용한 왕복동압축기의 성능해석 (Performance Analysis of a Reciprocating Compressor Using a Real Gas Equation of State)

  • This paper addresses performance analysis of a reciprocating compressor. A computer simulation model has been developed to predict and estimate the compressor performance. Instead of using ideal gas equations, real gas equations are used in describing the state of gas. The compressor simulation model consists of a cylinder control volume, suction system and discharge system. Conservation laws of mass and energy are applied to the cylinder section only, The suction and discharge system are described by the Helmholtz resonator modeling. Some of input data required for the simulation have been obtained from experiments. These experimentally obtained input data are effective flow area, effective force area and dynamic characteristics of valves. Simulation results of real gas equations have been compared with those of ideal gas equations. It has been found that the simulation with real gas equations yields lower cylinder temperature and heat transfer compared with those of ideal gas equations. Differences in pressure, mass flowrates, valve motions and gas pulsations are found quite small.

Gas-Flow Sensor using Optical Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG)

  • We have proposed and demonstrated an gas-flow sensor using optical fiber bragg grating(FEG). The flow sensor has no electronics and no mechanical parts in its sensing part and the structure is th11s simple and immune to electromagnetic interference(EMI). The FEG sensor was consisted qf the sensing element and a coil heater. The metal coil was used to supply the current to the FEG. While some currents supply to the coil, the refractive index of the FEG under the coil is changed and thus the wavelength shift of fiber optic sensor was induced In this work, the wavelength shift according to flow-rate was experimentally studied and was used to evaluate the gas flow-rate in a gas tube. As a result, it was possible to measure the flow-rate in a linear range from 5 to $20{\ell}/min$ with a resolution of approximately $1{\ell}/min$ at the applied currents of 100 mA and 120 mA. The measured sensitivities were $15.3\;pm/\ell/min$ for 100 mA and $20.2\;pm/\ell/min$ for 120 mA.

  • 국내 소형 가스터빈엔진 상용화 시장의 저변화를 위하여 상용 소형 가스터빈엔진의 시동 및 정상운용구간에서의 제어로직을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 통하여 시동 및 정상운용구간에서 엔진의 점화 및 정상작동을 위하여 엔진의 점화기, 시동모터, 연료펌프 및 연료밸브가 어떻게 제어되는지 파악하였고, 확보된 제어로직을 실제 상용화 연구가 진행되고 있는 소형 가스터빈엔진의 지상용 제어기에 활용하였다. 해당 엔진은 비행용 엔진 제어기를 제작 중이며, 제작 완료 후 항우연에서 보유하고 있는 고도시험설비를 활용한 고도시험을 통해 비행시험 전에 고도에서의 운용성능을 확인할 예정이다.

생물자원의 논 잡초 생물학적 방제 효과와 그에 따른 수서동물과 곤충 종수 및 벼 수량 변화 (Effects of Biocontrol Agents on Weed Control, Abundance of Aquatic Animals and Insects, and Yield in Paddy Rice Fields)

  • Golden apple snails (Pomacea canaliculat) (GAS) are widely used for weed control in rice cultivation. However, concerns on the ecological risk of invasive GAS species are increasing. This study aimed to evaluate the overall impacts of GAS on weed control, abundance of aquatic animals and insects, and rice yield, in comparison with that from other biocontrol agents such as loach (Misgurnus mizolepis) and catfish (Silurus asotus), which are alternatives for biological weed control in rice paddy cultivation. Field experiments included five treatments; control, herbicide, GAS, loach, and catfish. During the rice growth, weed appearance and biological abundance were monitored, and at harvest, the rice yield was determined. Weed control efficiency was the highest for GAS treatment (100%), followed by that for herbicide (95.8%), loach (57.5%), and catfish treatments (31.7%). Insect abundance was considerably decreased in GAS treatment due to heavy weed removal, which affects the habitat of aquatic animals and insects. The amount of rice yield (unit: kg 10 a-1) was in the order of GAS (798.9) > loach (708.1) = herbicide (700.7) > catfish (629.4) > control (496.0). Therefore, considering the weed control efficiency, biological abudance, and rice yield, loach could be a potential alternative for biological weed control in organic rice farming. However, the activity of the biocontrol agents are susceptible to environmental conditions; therefore, further studies under different conditions are essential to confirm these findings.

가스터빈엔진 최적 제어시스템 구현을 위한 엔진 시뮬레이터 개발 (Development of Engine Simulator for The Optimal Control System Implementation of Gas Turbine Engine)

  • This paper describes the development of a gas turbine engine simulator in detail. The simulator presented in this paper has a mathematical engine model based on a target gas turbine engine performance data and is developed for generating a gas turbine engine sensor signals between the hardwares and softwares of a gas turbine engine control system using Data Acquisition systems(DAS) and 1553B communication, a aeronautic standard communication specification. In addition, this paper proves the excellent performance of this simulator by showing the results of a gas turbine engine field test and simulation.
