  • This study introduces a method for computation of process and operation gap in the specific construction operation(i.e., RC frame construction applying a block-grouping scheme) using CYCLONE-based simulation modeling and analysis technique. Since uncertainty of construction environment exists, a thoughtful production planning is required to effectively deal with a risk resulting in schedule delay in advance. This study presents the concepts of a time delay occurred in a process level and operation level in a operation model, and a method of measuring gap-times in each level while the simulation progresses. It helps a site manager to decide how many segmentation in a construction block is suitable for eliminating unproductive time-delays under the constrained resources (e.g., laborer, equipment). A case study presents a network model representing a three segmented RC frame work, and result obtained from the simulation experiment.

Analytical Investigation on Fundamental Electrical Characteristics of Large Air-gap Superconducting Synchronous Machine

  • In this paper a general 2-D model of a large air-gap synchronous machine either with non-magnetic or magnetic core rotor is investigated and electrical characteristics of the machine are analytically calculated. Considering the general model, analytical equations for magnetic field density in different regions of the large air-gap machine are calculated. In addition, self and mutual inductances in the proposed model of the machine have been developed, which are the most important parameters in the electromagnetic design and transient analysis of synchronous machines. Finite element simulation has also been performed to verify the obtained results from the equations. Analytical results show good agreement with FEM results.

  • Typically uncontrolled intersections are characterized by the absence of signal, stop and yield sign, and by very light traffic volume. In this study, a gap acceptance model for such uncontrolled intersections has been modeled. The motivation is to identify the behavior of drivers so that the traffic flow phenomena can be easily understood. For this, actual traffic survey was accomplished at intersections in Suwon and the data have been fed into modeling process. The logit model was used and the results showed that total delay experienced by drivers, turning right movement, age, sex, and the existence of passenger affected gap acceptance. For example, male drivers, with experiencing longer delay and having passenger(s) with them, accepted shorter gaps. These identified characteristics regarding gap acceptance could be used for facility design and/or safety oriented traffic information dissemination near uncontrolled intersections.

  • Lately, the cavitation and erosion phenomena in the rudder have been increased for high-speed container ships. However, cavitation is not prone to occur in model experiments because of low Reynolds number. In order to predict the cavitation phenomena, the - analysis of the viscous flow in the rudder gap is positively necessary In this study, numerical calculation was applied to the two-dimensional flow around the rudder gap using FLUENT code. The velocity and pressure field were numerically acquired and cavitation phenomena could be predicted. And the case that the round bar was installed in the rudder gap was analyzed. For reducing the acceleration force when fluid flow through the gap, modified rudder shape is proposed, It is shown that modified rudder shape restrain the pressure drop at the entrance of the gap highly both in the computational results and in the model experiment, and reduce the cavitation bubbles.

Random Forest Model for Silicon-to-SPICE Gap and FinFET Design Attribute Identification

  • We propose a novel application of random forest, a machine learning-based general classification algorithm, to analyze the influence of design attributes on the silicon-to-SPICE (S2S) gap. To improve modeling accuracy, we introduce magnification of learning data as well as randomization for the counting of design attributes to be used for each tree in the forest. From the automatically generated decision trees, we can extract the so-called importance and impact indices, which identify the most significant design attributes determining the S2S gap. We apply the proposed method to actual silicon data, and observe that the identified design attributes show a clear trend in the S2S gap. We finally unveil 10nm key fin-shaped field effect transistor (FinFET) structures that result in a large S2S gap using the measurement data from 10nm test vehicles specialized for model-hardware correlation.

  • The purpose of this paper is characteristic analysis of multi-disk axial-gap pm motor for turbo compressor. The axial-gap permanent magnet motor has shown a growing interest in high-speed application for its high-efficiency, compact size and low vibration characteristics due to core-less structure. To achieve high-power, the axial-gap PM motor has multi-disk structure of stator and rotor disk. Because of its complicated magnetic flux path, it is not easy to calculate a dynamic characteristics using finite element analysis. In this paper, the simplified 2-D unfolded model to predict EMF characteristic is presented. To verify thesuggested 2-D unfolded model analysis of back-EMF characteristic was calculated and compared 3-D finite element. Finally the proposed method is verified by experimental results and shows good agreement with test results.

  • Even though the types of ramp facilities in Korea are not various like other countries operations in these sections are very important because ramp merging and /or diverging flow affects freeway overall sections. In this study existing methodologies especially the gap acceptance model and the regression model in USHCM are evaluated with our field data. By gap acceptance model the merging capacity is founded 2.360 pcph which is increased by 7% than the capacity of freeway basic section. And in comparison of actual lane 1 volume to the estimation volume by HCM model the model slightly overestimates the actual volue.

  • This paper suggests the dual-gap for generating power and increasing the torque of a direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor in a hybrid-cycle. To consider easy coil winding, we applied a structure of dual-gap for the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). Because the torque of PMSM with the dual-gap is very large, we are designed the appropriate specifications of the PMSM by selected the appropriate dual-gap slot and poles combination. The prototype model is selected by design theory for increasing torque and maximizing output power of PMSM. And the detailed structure design of the model was designed by the loading distribution method. The PMSM models were analyzed by finite element method. Finally, we have suggested appropriate rotor structure has benefit to further increasing torque and prevent decreasing of the output power in PMSM with dual-gap.

  • The gap(P-E)-model is based on the disconfirmation paradigm that tries to under stand the effect of the gap between before purchase expectations and after purchase perceptions of the product performance on dependent variables such as customer satis-faction. But Bhote proposed multiply($I{\times}P$)-model instead of gap(P-E)-model in 1998. This paper is focused on Bhote's multiply($I{\times}P$)-model in food service industry. The purpose of this research is to test whether DINESERV's 5-dimensions by multiply($I{\times}P$) model fits in explaining satisfaction, revisit intention and customer loyalty. The F-value of regression model was used to test the fitness of regression model of the multiply($I{\times}P$)-model. Through analysis, it was found that the multiply($I{\times}P$)-model fits.

Effects of Root Gap on Residual Stresses and Deformation in the Multi-Pass Weld of Thick Plates for Steel Bridge (교량용 후판 다층용접시 잔류응력과 변형에 미치는 루트간격의 영향)

  • The effects of root gap on welding residual stress and deformation are dealt with the multi-pass weldment with three kinds(0, 6, 30mm) of root gap by F.E.M common code, and then compared with experiment data. In this analysis, an 100% ramp heat input model was used to avoid numerical convergence problem due to an instantaneous increase in temperature near the fusion zone, and the effect of a moving arc in a two dimensional plane was also included. During the analysis, a small time increment was applied in a period with instantaneous temperature fluctuation while a large time increment was used in the rest period. The residual stress is distributed as symmetric types and maximum value is also equivalent when the weldment with 0mm and 6mm root gap is welded. In the case of 30mm root gap welding, the distribution of the residual stress extends over a wide range as asymmetric types due to the built-up weld, and most of the residual stress is biased in the side of a built-up weld part. In case of 0mm gap welding and 6mm gap welding, a little angular distortion occurs, but the level of deformation is small. When the weldment with 30mm root gap is welded, the angular deformation of the asymmetric types, however, occurs larger than the other specimens. The experimental and the analytic results show good coincidence and indicate that the welding residual stress and deformation distribution of 30 mm root gap specimen may be asymmetric and the amplitude is larger than those of root gap specimen under standard.
