The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of IMRT in our clinic from based on TG119 procedure and establish action level. Five IMRT test cases were described in TG119: multi-target, head&neck, prostate, and two C-shapes (easy&hard). There were used and delivered to water-equivalent solid phantom for IMRT. Absolute dose for points in target and OAR was measured by using an ion chamber (CC13, IBA). EBT2 film was utilized to compare the measured two-dimensional dose distribution with the calculated one by treatment planning system. All collected data were analyzed using the TG119 specifications to determine the confidence limit. The mean of relative error (%) between measured and calculated value was $1.2{\pm}1.1%$ and $1.2{\pm}0.7%$ for target and OAR, respectively. The resulting confidence limits were 3.4% and 2.6%. In EBT2 film dosimetry, the average percentage of points passing the gamma criteria (3%/3 mm) was $97.7{\pm}0.8%$. Confidence limit values determined by EBT2 film analysis was 3.9%. This study has focused on IMRT commissioning and quality assurance based on TG119 guideline. It is concluded that action level were ${\pm}4%$ and ${\pm}3%$ for target and OAR and 97% for film measurement, respectively. It is expected that TG119-based procedure can be used as reference to evaluate the accuracy of IMRT for each institution.
Proton therapy facility, which is recently installed at National Cancer Center in Korea, generally produces a large amount of radiation near cyclotron due to the secondary particles and radioisotopes caused by collision between proton and nearby materials during the acceleration. Although the level of radiation by radioisotope decreases in length of time, radiation exposure problem still exists since workers are easily exposed by a low level of radiation for a long time due to their job assignment for maintenance or repair of the proton facility. In this paper, the working environment near cyclotron, where the highest radiation exposure is expected, was studied by measuring the degree of radiation and its duration for an appropriate level of protective action guide. To do this, we measured the radiation change in the graphite based energy degrader, the efficiency of transmitted beam and relative activation degree of the transmission beam line. The results showed that while the level of radiation exposure around cyclotron and beam line during the operation is much higher than the other radiation therapy facilities, the radiation exposure rate per year is under the limit recommended by the law showing 1~3 mSv/year.
Background : Coal-worker's pneumoconiosis(CWP) is characterized by a chronic inflammatory lung reaction associated with macrophage accumulation in the alveolar spaces. CWP is usually divided into two stage : simple pneumoconiosis(SP) where there are a limited number of fibrotic lesions remain limited, with radiological opacities smaller than 1cm and progressive massive fibrosis(PMF), which is characterized by the development of a perifocal extensive fibrotic response of the lung and severe alterations in pulmonary function. In this study, the lymphocyte compartment and cytokine were evaluated by measuring the serum levels in the control, SP and PMF groups. Materials and Methods : The coal workers selected for this study were employees(patients?) of the Tae-Baek and Dong-Hae hospital. All were men, 45-76 years old and the mean duration of their exposure to coal dust was 23.2 years in the lymphocyte compartment and 24.3 years in the cytokine checked group. According to X-ray examination results, the patients were classified into either one of the SP, PMF categories. The normal controls examined were 26-70 years old men. The serum cytokine levels were estimated by using an end point enzyme immunoassay technique. Results : T lymphocyte, helper and suppressor T cells were highly related to pneumoconiosis in this study. A statistically significant decrease in the number of suppressor T lymphocytes was observed in the simple pneumoconiosis patients and at the same time, there was an increase in the lymphocyte index. Howevere, there was no statistically difference in the serum cytokines levels among the SP, PMF and control groups. Conclusion : T lymphocyte, helper T, and suppressor T cells may be highly related to the development of CWP compared to the control group particularly in the early stage of pneumoconiosis. The changes observed in the immunological system in patients with pneumoconiosis may lie at the bottom of the pathogenesis of fibrosis. Further study is needed to evaluate the lymphocyte compartment as a marker for pneumoconiosis development in the early stage.
Background: Interleukin-12 (IL-12) can induce antitumor effects in vivo. This antitumor effect is associated with T cell infiltration but the effect of IL-12 on the steps of T cell migration into the tumor tissue has not been fully elucidated. This study focused on the effect of IL-12 on the tumor growth and the metastasis and on the expression of E-selectin, an adhesion molecule which is activated endothelial specific in its expression. In addition, we studied whether the expression of E-selectin is associated with the TNF-$\alpha$, a cytokine that its production is increased by IL-12 and has functions inducing a variety of adhesion molecules. Methods: Mice of C57BL/6 strain were injected with Lewis lung cancer cells followed by either IL-12, TNF-$\alpha$, or normal saline by intraperitoneal route. Twenty eight days after tumor cell inoculation, metastatic nodules of lung were enumerated and immunohistochemical staining of the subcutaneous tumors were performed with monoclonal antibodies to CD4, CD8, CD16, and E-selectin. In IL-12 treated mice, the subcutaneously implanted Lewis lung tumors were decreased in size and the metastases were also decreased in number compared to control mice. On tumor tissues, increased infiltration of CD4+, CD8+, and CD16+ cells were oberved in IL-12 treated mice compared to control mice. In control mice, E-selectin was absent on tumor vessels, but the expression of E-selectin was increased on tumor vessels of IL-12 treated mice. Administration of TNF-$\alpha$ increased not only the expression of E-selectin but also infiltrations of CD4+, CD8+, and CD16+ cells on tumor tissues. Conclusions: These results demonstrate that IL-12 inhibits tumor growth and metastases through infiltrations of inflammatory cells in mouse model of Lewis lung carcinoma and E-selectin may playa role in inflammatory cell recruitment on tumor tissue following IL-12 administration. Also, TNF-$\alpha$ may have a role as a mediator responsible for the IL-12 induced expression of E-selectin.

To examine the biological activity of polysaccharide extracted from cultured mycelia of Schizophyllum commune, we determined anti-complementary activity and nitric oxide production as a measure of immunological activity, anti-lipidperoxidation and hydroxy radical scavenging activity as a measure of antioxidative activity, tyrosinase inhibitory activity, anti-microbial activity, and transdermal flux of polysaccharide extracted from cultured mycelia of S. commune. Polysaccharide extracted from S. commune activated the complementary system and produced nitric oxide in RAW 264.7 macrophages. Antioxidant activities as malondialdehyde values were $49.5{\pm}0.7$, $39.7{\pm}1.7$, $39.2{\pm}1.2$, and $2.6{\pm}0.5nM/mL$ for control, extracellular polysaccharide extracted from S. commune (SC-EP), ultrafiltrated polysaccharide extracted from S. commune (SC-UP), and butylated hydroxytoluene, respectively. Hydroxy radical scavenging activity ($IC_{50}$) of SC-UP and mannitol were 3.32 and 1.66 mg/mL, respectively. Tyrosinase inhibitory activities of SC-UP, arbutin, and kojic acid were 19.9%, 31.8%, and 99.0%, respectively. Anti-microbial activities of SC-UP appeared to be low, and transdermal fluxes of SC-UP were 0.47%, 0.73%, and 1.20% after 3, 6, and 9 hr, respectively. These findings suggest that polysaccharide extracted from S. commune has potential immunological and antioxidant activities.

To develop foods using dried persimmon, hot-water extracts of dried persimmons were added into strong wheat flour in the ratio of 10, 20, 30, and 40% and the quality characteristics of baked products were investigated. The proximate compositions of dried persimmons hot-water extracts were 70.37% of moisture, 1.72% of crude protein, 0.18% of crude lipids, 1.99% of crude ash and 4.37% of crude fiber, respectively. With increasing the addition of dried persimmons hot-water extracts, moisture content of the added breads was increased to 47.20% from 41.12% of non-added bread and water activity to 0.576 from 0.495. Water binding capacity of the added dried persimmons hot-water extracts rasied weight of the bread but decreased specific volume. In the hunter's color values the more dried persimmons hot-water extracts was added, the lower L vaules we, and the higher a and b values we. In the texture property, the addition of dried persimmons hot-water extracts increased hardness, gumminess and chewiness, while decreased adhesiveness and fracturability. Judging from texture, taste and overall acceptability of the product, recommended substitution level for hot-water extracts of dried persimmons in bread was 30% or less.
This study is to derive from the required performances and the optimum mix proportion of the roof concrete placed in the in-ground LNG storage tank with a capacity of 200000 $m^3$, and propose the actual data for site concrete work. The concrete placing work without sliding and segregation in the fresh concrete condition is very important because the slope of domed roof is varied in the large range by its curvature. Also the control of hydration heat and the strength development at test ages are classified with massive section about 1.4 m thick and considered to the pre-stressing work and removal of air support after concrete placing work. Considering above condition, slump range is selected $100{\pm}25$ mm under the slope $20^{\circ}$ and $150{\pm}25$ mm over the slope $20^{\circ}$ s until 60 minutes of elapsed time. Also, the roof concrete is satisfied with compressive strength range including design strength at 91 days (30 MPa), pre-stressing work at 7 days (10 MPa), air support removal work at 21 days (14 MPa). Replacement ratio of limestone powder is determined by confined water ratio test and main design factors include water-cement ratio (W/C), sand-aggregate ratio and dosage of admixture. As test results, the optimum mix proportion of the roof concrete used low heat cement is as followings. 1) Replacement ratio of limestone powder 25% by confined water ratio test 2) Water-cement ratio 57.8% 3) Sand-aggregate ratio 42.0%. Also, test results for the adiabatic temperature rising test is satisfied with its criteria and shown the lower value compared to preceding storage tank (TK-13, 14). These required performances and the optimum mix proportion is to apply the actual construction work.
This study was prepared to develop American sauce with different amounts of salt through high pressure extraction and examined difference in its mechanical and sensory characteristics. Furthermore, it aimed to provide practical materials for the mass production of American sauce and other crustacean sauce products and to contribute to the development of products with superior quality and functionality by standardizing traditional cooking techniques in the food service industry. In American sauce, salt content did not have a significant effect on water content and ash content but had a significant effect on color, pH and salinity. Na and K contents increased with increasing salt content. In addition, Mg and P contents were highest in J4 containing 0.4% of salt, but they did not show any regular tendency according to salt content. For total free amino acids, 29 kinds were detected in J0 and J1, 30 in J2, 31 in J3, and 33 in J4. Detection was highest in J3 containing 0.3% of salt, and the content level was highest particularly for arginine among essential amino acids, for glutamic acid, alanine, serine, ${\beta}$-alanine and ${\alpha}$-aminoadipic acid among flavor enhancing amino acids, and for ${\gamma}$-Aminoisobutyric acid among other amino acids. We measured lipid peroxidation in American sauce using lipid extracted from a mouse brain and confirmed that the amount of antioxidant substances extracted was largest in J0 containing no salt. The results of measuring lipid peroxidation and DPPH showed that the antioxidant effect was high when salt was not contained. In the results of the sensory test, overall quality was highest in J3 containing 0.3% of salt, showing that the addition of salt affects the evaluation of overall quality. Summing up the presents of this study as presented above, we cannot expect an effect of antioxidant functionality; however, according to the results of the mechanical quality evaluation and the sensory test, American sauce containing 0.3% of salt is considered the optimal product in terms of quality. Using these results as practical materials for the mass production of crustacean sauce products, we expect to standardize traditional cooking techniques in the food service industry and to develop products with high quality and functionality.
Objectives: Periodic leg movements in sleep (PLMS) might be subdivided based upon whether or not they are associated with visible EEG microarousals (MA). MA is considered to be responsible for nonrestorative sleep and daytime fatigue. The American Sleep Disorders Association's (ASDA) scoring rules for MA based on visual analysis of the EEG changes suggest that MA should last more than 3 seconds. However, it has been suggested that visual analysis may not detect some changes in EEG activity. This study is aimed at measuring changes in EEG spectra during PLMS without MA in order to better understand the arousing response of PLMS. Methods: Ten drug-free patients (three men and seven women) diagnosed with PLMS by polysomnography were studied. Spectral analysis of the EEG was performed in each patient on 30 episodes of PLMS without MA, chosen randomly across the night in stage 2 non-REM sleep. We applied stricter criteria for MA compared to ASDA, by defining it as a return to alpha and theta frequency lasting at least 1 second. Results: The mean PLMS index was $16.7{\pm}10.0$. The mean PLMS duration was $1.3{\pm}0.7$ seconds. Comparison of 4-second EEG activity both before and after the onset of PLMS without MA using independent t-test showed that the movements were associated with significant increase of relative activity in the delta band (p=0.000) and significant decrease of activity in the alpha (p=0.01) and sigma (p=0.000) bands. No significant decrease in the theta (p=0.05), beta (p=0.129), or gamma (p=0.062) bands was found. Conclusion: PLMS without MA was found to be associated with EEG change characterized by increase in the delta frequency band. This finding seems to be compatible with the hypothesis of an integrative hierarchy of arousal responses of Sforza's. Considering that the subjects had lower PLMS index and shorter PLMS duration than those of the previous study, it is suggested that an even less severe form of PLMS without MA could induce neurophysiologic change, which may potentially be of clinical significance.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of unripened cheese supplements on lipid metabolism and antioxidant status in hypercholesterolemic SD rats. Rats were induced to have hypercholesterolemia by feeding them high cholesterol diet (0.5% cholesterol and 0.2% sodium cholate) for 4 weeks and then divided into 2 groups. One group was fed a high cholesterol diet with 5% unripened cheese (URC) daily for 6 weeks, and the other one was fed a high cholesterol diet without 5% unripened cheese (URC) daily for 6 weeks. Significantly-increased plasma total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), and AST activity because of the high-cholesterol diet were reduced 18.8%, 40.5%, and 33%, respectively, by URC supplementation. Also, URC lowered hepatic total lipids, TCs, and TGs, whereas fecal lipid profiles were not changed by URC. The supplementation of URC resulted in an increase of plasma retinol and ${\alpha}$-tocopherol by 40.5% and 39.2% and leukoytic DNA resistance to oxidative stress by 52.3% compared to hypercholesterolemic control. These results suggest that unripened cheese supplements could exert significant health benefits to those with hypercholesterolemia through ameliorating lipid profiles and antioxidant effects.
