  • Squash & Stretch principle is playing an essential principle for animation action. The application of this principle gives the illusion of weight and volume to an animation character, and makes it possible that an animation action be the smooth and soft by escaping from the stiffness and rigidity. If an action of human or object on animation is expressed like a real world, it seems to be unnatural. Any action without Squash & Stretch will look rigid, uninteresting and not alive. It can be applied to movement of all objects, characters' actions, dialogues and facial expressions with a basic rule of mass, volume and gravity. Any action will not be well expressed without this principle. To be a good animation action, it should be deeply applied in 3D animation, not only 2D animation. Thus, a systemic analysis of Squash & Stretch principle is required.

  • With the consistent development of the 3D application technique, visuals are available at more realistic quality and are utilized in many applications like game. In particular, interacting with 3D objects in virtual environments, 3D graphics have led to a substantial development in the augmented reality. This study proposes a 3D user interface to control objects in 3D space through virtual two-view method using only one camera. To do so, homography matrix including transformation information between arbitrary two positions of camera is calculated and 3D coordinates are reconstructed by employing the 2D hand coordinates derived from the single camera, homography matrix and projection matrix of camera. This method will result in more accurate and quick 3D information. This approach may be advantageous with respect to the reduced amount of calculation needed for using one camera rather than two and may be effective at the same time for real-time processes while it is economically efficient.

  • This study proposes smart-phone game applications success model based on mobile internet success model and investigates the effects of cultural propensities especially, uncertainty avoidance and power distance at the individual level. To achieve our research purposes, the study conducted survey in Korea and a total of 221 people participated in the survey. We classified user types by cultural difference as a moderating variable. User's cultural propensity classified two groups: high uncertainty avoidance and high power distance, low uncertainty avoidance and low power distance. This study results reveal that the impact of quality factors on user satisfaction have difference according to cultural propensities.

  • The purpose of this study is to help cultivating Children's sensibility through the development of typing program which shows vocabulary of sensibility. The characteristic of this typing education program is designed to finish the game when the children get the certain point by typing the words on the screen(from the top to the bottom) within the limit of time. For examples, adjectives in the Korean dictionary, the words of modern & traditional children's songs, imitative words and echoic words through this game, the children are fully aware of the meaningful words without realizing it. Through this game, the children are fully a ware of the meaningful words without recognizing it. After application of this typing education program children were fully aware of meaningful words more than meaningless words. After examining the survey of children we could discover that this typing program help cultivating children's sensibility.

  • In this paper, we present an emulation library for the essential features and their API function calls provided by Direct3D, the most actively used API for computer game-related application programs on the MS-Windows-based desktop's, with OpenGL library in the Linux environment. In typical Linux-based systems, only the X window system and OpenGL graphics library are available. There are lots of needs for this kind of emulation library to convert the Direct3D-based game applications and user interfaces on these systems. Through carefully selecting the essential API functions from the DirectX version 9.0, we obtained the prototype implementation of that emulation library, to finally get the final full-scale DirectX implementation. Our implementation currently covers 3D coordinate transformations, light and material processing, texture mapping, simple animation features and more. We showed its feasibility through successfully executing a set of Direct3D demonstration programs including a real-world game character animation on our implementation.

  • In order to move NPC's to target location at game maps, various algorithm including A* has been used. The most frequently used algorithm among them is A* with fast finding speed. But A* has the following problems. The first problem is that at randomly changing map, it is necessary to calculate all things again whenever there are any changes. And when calculation is wrong, it is not possible to search for target. The second problem is that it is difficult to move avoiding dangerous locations damaging NPC such as an obstruction. Although it is possible to avoid moving to locations with high weight by giving weight to dangerous factors. it is difficult to control in case NPC moves nearby dangerous factors. In order to solve such problems, in this thesis, the researcher applied Dynamic Programming to path-finding algorithm. As the result of its application, the researcher could confirm that the programming was suitable for changes at the map with random change and NPC's avoided the factors being dangerous to them far away. In addition. when compared to A*, there were good results.

  • An environmental factor is very important in a war game model supporting military training. Most war game models in Korean armed forces apply the same weather conditions to all operation areas. As a result, it fails to derive a high-fidelity simulation result. For this reason this study attempts to develop factor techniques for a high-fidelity war game that can apply distributed synthetic atmospheric environment modeling data to a military simulation. The major developed factor technology of this study applies regional distributed precipitation data to the 2D-GIS based Simplified Detection Probability Model(SDPM) that was developed for this study. By doing this, this study shows that diversely distributed local weather conditions can be applied to a military simulation depending on the model resolution from theater level to engineering level, on the use from training model to analytical model, and on the description level from corps level to battalion level.

  • The research has sought to examine the effect of cognition training using smart device application games on the cognition function of traumatic brain injury patients. The research was conducted to the seventeen traumatic brain injury patients with slight symptoms who were treated with occupational therapy. The patients were divided into the two groups, nine for the experimental group and eight for the control group. The experimental group was assigned to conduct cognition training using smart device application games and traditional cognition training for fifteen minutes each, and the control group has conducted the traditional cognition training for 30 minutes. All arbitrations were conducted for 30 minutes a day, five times a week and for four weeks. To assess the cognitive function, Korean Mini-Mental State Examination (K-MMSE), Lowenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA) and visual memory 1 and 2 of Motor-free Visual Perception Test-3 (MVPT-3) were measured before and after the intervention. In the comparison of the change between the two groups, the experimental groups showed a significant improvement in the visual memory of Motor-free Visual Perception Test-3 and remembrance section of the Korean Mini-Mental State Examination (p<.05). The result of this research has confirmed that the cognition training using the smart device application game can make the positive change to the visual memory of the traumatic brain injury patients more than the traditional cognition training.

  • This study suggests a methodology for automatically extracting placing information from 2D reinforced concrete details drawings and generating a 3D reinforcement placing model to develop a mobile augmented reality for bar placing work. To make it easier for users to acquire placing information, it is suggested that users takes pictures of structural drawings using a camera built into a mobile device and extract placing information using vision recognition and the OCR(Optical Character Registration) tool. In addition, an augmented reality app is implemented using the game engine to allow users to automatically generate 3D reinforcement placing model and review the 3D models by superimposing them with real images. Details are described for application to the proposed methodology using the previously developed programming tools, and the results of implementing reinforcement augmented reality models for typical members at construction sites are reviewed. It is expected that the methodology presented as a result of application can be used for learning bar placing work or construction review.
