This paper investigates the trends of low-cost suburban housing since world War II, as examplified by the Levitt housing in the Northeastern regions of the States. This research analyzes the trends of 14 variables including total floor area. lot size, living room size, kitchen size, mean bedroom size, master bedroom size, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, family room, garage, number of story, appliances and features, values, and values per sq ft. Nine entry-level houses were chosen as cases for comparative purpose at different points in time from 1940's to 1990's. This research finds that house sizes have been grown until 1960s, but this trend has reversed with shrinking economy and changing family lifestyles. The trend for smaller housing equipped with several features and convenient equipments will be continued for the next decades to come.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the quality of toys, to explore children's and mothers' perception of toys, and to present future directions for toy manufacturers, children and mothers. The subjects were 127 6-year-old, 143 8-year-old, 151 10-year-old children and 383 mothers. In addition, 113 toys were selected for analysis. Data were gathered through both observations and questionnaires. The results showed that most toys were appropriate to stimulate cognitive development. However, for dolls, 90% of them were in the shape of Caucasions. Children who were accustomed to such dolls may develop the tendency to favor a Western aesthetic standard. War toys, such as guns and robots may provoke aggression and violence. Mothers believed that toys should be helpful for the intellectual, social and physical development of children. While mothers were not satisfied with the quality of domestically produced toys, children generally liked them.

  • Dry docks are used to repair warships or Merchant ships based on their life cycles. There are the certain number of dry docks in the ROK Navy, However, the ROK Navy force structure has been changing a lot since the Korean War. The focus of this study is to analyze the queueing problem regarding present dry docks capacities and to forecast the appropriate number of dry docks based on future naval ship structure. The study proposes to obtain an efficient dry dock size using queueing problem and simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient friendly forces location data sharing algorithm in a troops using a low bandwidth radio. The future battlefield is a 'Network Centric Warfare' with a concept of identifying the position and power of the enemy and friendly forces and leading the battlefield to victory through proper links at the time of our need. One of the basic elements in the 'Network Centric Warfare' is to share friendly forces location data. The bandwidth and transmission rates of radio used in battalion are low. Nevertheless, we should share our locations data almost in real time for effective fighting in a war situation. This paper describes the efficient method of friendly forces location data sharing based on low bandwidth radio. In particular, the concept of 'network-centered warfare' is reflected in the troop below the battalion to present an integrated and efficient way to shared location data of friendly forces.

  • The most dangerous and safest place, the busiest and most serene place, the DMZ where the wounds of the bitter war melt away, but at the same time contain life and healing. In this space of paradox, we now want to look at 'peace'. The KTV documentary 'DMZ Coexistence' is made in the form of a human road documentary that consists of various perspectives looking at the DMZ, various characters, and the most unknown Korean story materials, and the stories related to the performers in UHD 4K. In this study, we will show the process of creating an 'opening title' of 'DMZ Coexistence' captured in 4k and make it usable in academia and industry in the future.

  • This article explores religious responses to significant cultural and social change in a northern Vietnamese delta village from 1996 to 2008-the second decade after de-collectivization. Drawing upon extensive fieldwork in both the village and surrounding religious networks, the article teases out the meanings of the new religious movements for northern rural people in the new era of market economy; the symbols, language, and metaphoric resources people used in response to their uncertainty and mistrust of the new social landscape; and the unintended consequences of rapid societal development such as marginalization, tensions, and social disintegration. The article argues that as in milleniarism elsewhere, new religious movements in northern rural Vietnam embody unorthodox syncretism between world religious and local traditions, thus linking past, present, and future. However, when drawing upon a common reservoir of memories and experiences to cope with risks and challenges of the new market world, local people not only drew on the power and imperial metaphor of deities in their traditional religion and belief, but became more creative to recuperate meanings, standards, and symbols from revolutionary discourse to reorient themselves, and overcome alienation and marginalization.

  • This year(2012) marks the 30th anniversary of the Malvinas (Falkland) war. A series of talks between the British and Argentina took place over 30 years until 1982, but failed to reach a conclusion on sovereignty. Argentina claims that sovereignty of the islands was transferred to Argentina from Spain upon independence, a principle known as uti possidetis juris. But UK claims that the principle of uti possidetis juris is not accepted as a general principal of international law, and UN General Assembly resolutions calling for negotiations are flawed because they make no reference to the islanders' right to choose their own future. In this situation, a huge amount of petroleum and natural gas has discovered near the Malvinas islands. To explore such situation, this article looks into history and present condition on dispute of Malvinas sovereignty, and also analyses de-colonialism and resource nationalism related to dispute of Malvinas sovereignty.

  • Satellite based communication is networks in which users in a wide area can access without wired-based ground infrastructure. In particular, the need is emerging due to the recent Ukraine-Russia war. Satellite network systems acquire data that is difficult to observe on Earth as well as communication networks and are also used for research and development, which allows additional data to be produced. However, due to the nature of communication networks existing in outer space, certain vulnerabilities are revealed, and attacks based on them can be exposed. In this paper, we analyze vulnerabilities that may arise due to the nature of satellite communication networks and describes current research, countermeasures, and future research directions.

  • The ultimate purpose of this study is as follows: The current primary concern in the defense sector revolves around how to strategically utilize Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in combat. The Fourth Industrial Revolution denotes a shift towards an environment where automation and connectivity are maximized, driven by technologies such as artificial intelligence. Coined by Klaus Schwab in the 2015 Davos Forum, this term highlights the significant role of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Particularly, the military application of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies is expected to be actively researched and implemented. Combat involves military actions between units, typically conducted as part of a larger war, with units striving to achieve one or more objectives. The concept of combat refers to the fundamental ideas of how units should engage with the enemy, both presently and in future scenarios, to achieve assigned objectives.
