Cloning, Sequencing and Baculovirus-based Expression of Fusion-Glycoprotein D Gene of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (F)

  • The Glycoprotein D (gD) gene of the HSV-1 strain F was cloned, sequenced, recombinated into the HcNPV (Hyphantria cunea nuclear polyhedrosis virus) expression vector and expressed in insect cells. The gD gene was located in the 6.43 kb BamHI fragment of the strainF. The open reading frame (ORF) of the gD gene was 1,185 by and codes 394 amino acid residues. Recombinant baculoviruses, GD-HcNPVs, expressing the gD protein were constructed. Spodoptera frugiperda cells, infected with the recombinant virus, synthesized a matured gX-gD fusion protein with an approximate molecular weight of 54 kDa and secreted the gD proteins into the culture media by an immunoprecipitation assay The fusion gD protein was localized on the membrane of the insect cells, seen by using an immunofluorescence assay The deduced amino acid sequence presents additional characteristics compatible with the structure of a viral glycoprotein: signal peptide, putative glycosylation sites and a long C-terminal transmembrane sequence. These results indicate the utility of the HcNPV-insect cell system for producing and characterizing eukaryotic proteins.

Design of Low Cost Real-Time Audience Adaptive Digital Signage using Haar Cascade Facial Measures

  • Digital signage is becoming part of daily life across a wide range of visual advertisements segments market used in stations, hotels, retail stores, hotels, etc. The current digital signage system used in market is generally works on limited user interactivity with static contents. In this paper, a new approach is proposed using computer vision based dynamic audience adaptive cost-effective digital signage system. The proposed design uses the Camera attached Raspberry Pi Open source platform to employ the real-time audience interaction using computer vision algorithms to extract facial features of the audience. The real-time facial features are extracted using Haar Cascade algorithm which are used for audience gender specific rendering of dynamic digital signage content. The audience facial characterization using Haar Cascade is evaluated on the FERET database with 95% accuracy for gender classification. The proposed system, developed and evaluated with male and female audiences in real-life environments camera embedded raspberry pi with good level of accuracy.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective tracking algorithm with an appearance model based on features extracted from a video frame with posture variation and camera view point adaptation by employing the non-adaptive random projections that preserve the structure of the image feature space of objects. The existing online tracking algorithms update models with features from recent video frames and the numerous issues remain to be addressed despite on the improvement in tracking. The data-dependent adaptive appearance models often encounter the drift problems because the online algorithms does not get the required amount of data for online learning. So, we propose an effective tracking algorithm with an appearance model based on features extracted from a video frame.

  • 예술과 과학이 융합된 전시회, 양평군립미술관의 '미디어시티전(展)' 작품 분석을 중심으로 뉴미디어 아트 장르인 디지털아트, 컴퓨터 아트, 인터넷 아트, 인터렉티브 아트의 컴퓨터와 인터넷 미디어 기술을 기반으로 하는 예술 작품사례를 통해서 관객과 전시 오브젝트간의 상호작용과 소통 방식을 연구하였다. 뉴미디어 작품은 실험적 성향의 다양한 기술들과 융합하여 새로운 형태로 표현되고 있음을 확인했으며 해외 미디어관련 전시 사례들과 국내 '미디어시티전(展)' 에 출품된 작품들의 인터랙티브 미디어 활용 사례들을 연구 분석하였으며 전시 작품들에서 뉴미디어 아트의 주요 특성을 확인할 수 있었다. 향후에는 특정 기준을 설정하여 뉴미디어 아트의 활용 분야를 중심으로 살펴보고 시대 현황과 비교하여 미래 가치를 고민하고 분석해본다면 의미 있는 연구가 될 것이라 생각한다.

  • In this modern digital era, there are very vigorous arguments about digital and media aesthetics throughout culture and art on the basis of new transferring of recognition about the art-media's characteristics. Therefore, this paper tries to discover the art-media's characteristics and aesthetic value that are included in contemporary digital fashion through studying the fusion between digital and fashion. The purpose of this research is to offer positive and evolutive opportunity of artistic thinking to make the meeting between fashion and media suggest the future generation, adaptation and recognition in the media - developmental environment that will be deeper and more fueling. In the area of research method, this paper takes the method of theoretical research by referring national and foreign literatures and preceding research-papers, and carries out investigation and analysis about digital fashion for the last 10 years. The results of this study; The art-media's characteristics of modern digital fashion are virtuality, immateriality and characteristics of multimedia. The aesthetic values can be classified with four kinds of properties. First is hybridity initiated from multi-media that creates works; the second is infinite reproductivity initiated from the characteristics of the multi media and the digital carrier. Thirdly, there is also interactivity appeared all over the area of production, adaptation and perception caused by non-linearity and immateriality. Finally there is synesthesia that can extend the capability of sense through digital media.

중금속 최소화를 위한 메탈 함유 염료 개발에 관한 연구 (A study of minimizing heavy metal content in metal complex dye development)

  • Metal complex dyes are usually used to dye amide fiber such as wool, silk and nylon to achieve high concentrated color and excellent color fastness. However, metal complex dyes that contain various heavy metal components cause not only serious environmental problem but also human health. In this study the ordinary 1:2 metal acid dyes and the modified 1:2 metal dyes, which are environmental friendly, are compared and analyzed in existing dyes investigated the trends in the evaluation system of their harmfulness, containing heavy metals and examined exhaustion rates and dyeing characteristics.

  • We proposed the method to present corrected depth cue to an observer by stereoscopic display. It was performed in sequence that designing the displayed space having a constant interval of depth and then defining the object space which had considered to an environment of display and based on computer graphics. Consequently, we had performed a different process of reported existing methods distinctively and taken the result which correctly designed depth cue having linearity whatever various sizes of display would be used.

  • Recently, due to decrease hardware prices and the development of technology, analog signage has been changing to digital signage for providing content such as advertisements, videos. Furthermore, in order to provide advertisements and contents to users more effectively, technical researches are being conducted in various industries. In addition, including digital signage that uses displays, it can be seen that it provides advertisements and contents using diverse devices such as LED signage, smart pads, and smart phones. However, most digital signage is installed in one place to provide contents and provides interactivity through simple events such as manual content provision or touch. So, in this paper, we suggest a new object detection algorithm based on an adjacent frames based image correction algorithm for interactive building signage.

  • 전 세계적으로 효율이 높은 LED 조명이 각광 받기 시작하면서 기존의 조명보다 에너지 효율이 높은 LED 조명을 보다 효율적으로 사용하기 위한 다양한 방법들에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존의 스위치 구조의 제품을 분석하여 한계점을 파악하고, 사용자가 스위치를 교체하는 단순한 방식으로도 스마트 조명을 경험 할 수 있도록 LED조명을 효율적으로 사용하기 위한 벽면형 스위치 구조를 디자인 하고자한다.

Improved Residual Network for Single Image Super Resolution

  • In the classical single-image super-resolution (SISR) reconstruction method using convolutional neural networks, the extracted features are not fully utilized, and the training time is too long. Aiming at the above problems, we proposed an improved SISR method based on a residual network. Our proposed method uses a feature fusion technology based on improved residual blocks. The advantage of this method is the ability to fully and effectively utilize the features extracted from the shallow layers. In addition, we can see that the feature fusion can adaptively preserve the information from current and previous residual blocks and stabilize the training for deeper network. And we use the global residual learning to make network training easier. The experimental results show that the proposed method gets better performance than classic reconstruction methods.
