The study of Lurelle Van Arsdale Guild (1898-1986)'s vanity table and stool in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is essential to understand how the stylistic change was made on industrial design in the 1930s caused by economic necessity. The vanity furniture expresses in such relatively inexpensive image transformations that would attract new customers in the Depression. The objects are donated from a collector and became one of CHM's collections in 1997. In curatorial file, other than the designer's and manufacturer's names there is nothing specified for these objects. Therefore, this study is aimed for researching the exact date for these valuable objects for understanding American Art Deco furniture in the 1930s. Moreover, studying social aspect of these objects gives clear vision for the background. Especially, the History of American Standard (Rodengen, 1999) gives great over view to the history of the manufacturer, C. F. Church Company. The record in Fortune of 1934 suggests the designer, Lurelle Guild's position among other industrial designers at that time. And Profoundly, the objects were assigned design patents. Therefore, the vanity furniture set in the CHM was a significant symbol of early modernism rising from functional areas after the Depression.

Since of 2000s, Office furniture have been much changes in the design as the expanding demand for the diversity and variability of office space. Especially, OA System Furniture including Panel System were developed by the shape and configuration considering the members' communication and teamwork. However, It is limited to the situation for the leading manufacturer of office furniture, Most small business cope with a negative policy because development personnel and expense. Thus, Accounted for the majority of the office furniture manufacturing, Small and medium-sized furniture manufacturers are needed measures of development that reflect these realities, rapid and practical. This study suggests redesign in a way that a small and medium-sized furniture manufacturers to overcome the limited design development environment and rapidly respond to changing market conditions. And this study has an intend to develop the Office Panel System.

The objective of this work was to research click profile of laminate flooring by comparison of click and bonding laminate floorings, especially base on the click profile shape, bonding strength and international patents. Non-glue locking system has been used since laminate flooring was developed. For the reason of environment and saving installation time, the manufacturer in Europe and USA has developed click profile for laminate flooring. Each manufacturer has patent on each click profile. Although each click profile has good lock strength as shape, Berryand Unilin company's click profile systems showed higher locking strength than others. Korean laminate flooring company pay the fee of patent for using European and American manufacturer's click profile. From this work, we grope Korean style laminate flooring and click profile through research on the click profile shape, bonding strength and patents of European and American manufacturers.

This study aimed at developing furniture for children by Ilgumte which is an expert manufacturer of educational equipments for school and kindergarten and the aim of this investigation is to develop the child-oriented furniture in consideration of Ilgumte's characteristic as a company composed of the disabled people, and furthermore to create a new sales market by developing own technology to improve competitive power. The current status of the child furniture in domestic and international market was researched and design concept on basis of this analysis was set, and through the designing process the new items of furniture having characteristics as follows were developed. First, the simple production way for the disabled to be able to work was selected and plywood used mainly by Ilgumte was presented as main material. Second, moving course, space and storage function were maximum considered, so that children feel convenient at using the furniture in their space, in case of playing as well as leaning. Third, natural wooden texture was mostly reflected for the emotional aspects of children and pink color played a role as partial accents. Finally, difficult production skill and expensive material were excluded for cost down.

The purpose of this study is to examine losely how the Rococo style, which reached its summit in the history of French furniture, was realized in its social background and mode of life. Based ion this examination , this study will explore desirable directions for developing our domestic furniture design. For this purpose , existing literature will be referred to and analyzed to arrange into a new system. Rococo furniture style was the product of joyous and aristocratic living . This was based upon the historical development of French interior design, established by the national mode of Versailles Palace. Hereafter, royal style came into fashion paralleled with the luxuries of the court. Pursuit of new , interesting or beyond-expectation fashions encouraged the creation of new and imaginative forms and designs . The elegnant taste of customers, the new techniques of furniture manufacturing , and the unique sales strategies of merchants were social phenomena which contributed to the development of Rococo furniture. Furthermore , Louis XV`s private and personal life led to society`s pursut of comfortable and convenient living . Under these circumstances, small and cozy rooms for various uses came into the interior. Accordingly, the scales of furniture became smaller and any types of furniture with their own uses and feminine nature were manufactured , especially by the bnistes. Rococo furniture with fmine beanty and refined line, beatifil proportion and elegant sculpture, and solidity and clarity in general , is not only furniture for the use of man, but also furniture in harmony with man. As we see the stages of development and the characteristics of Rococo furniture, development of Korean furniture is a common task which can be accomplished through the participation of the designer, manufacturer, seller and consumer. Based on this co-operation , the furniture industry must make an improvement in furmture design, lestablish a permanent store in which new works are displayed. publicize activities and sales, promote exhibitions and seminars, and encourage technical development through the government and other interested organizations.

포름알데히드는 대표적인 직업성 발암물질로, 고농도에 노출되면 사람에게 백혈병이나 임파종, 비인두암 등을 일으킬 수 있다. 본 연구는 포름알데히드의 직업적 노출이 높은 가구목제 제조업 중 1 개 사업장을 대상으로 공정별 공기 중 포름알데히드 농도를 평가하고, 공기 중 포름알데히드 농도가 가장 높은 무늬목 부착 공정에서 사용되는 재료의 실험실내 포름알데히드 발생 및 분석을 통하여 가구 제조 사업장의 포름알데히드의 발생 현황을 파악하고자 하였다. 2,4-디니트로페닐히드라진 코팅 실리카겔 흡착관에 0.2 L/min의 유량으로 6 시간동안 공기 시료를 포집하고 아세토니트릴로 탈착하여 HPLC-UV로 분석하였다. UV 검출 파장은 360 nm였고, ACQUITY UPLC BEH $C_{18}$ ($100{\times}2.1mm$, $1.7{\mu}m$, Waters, U.S.A.) 컬럼과 45% 아세토니트릴 이동상을 사용하여 유속을 0.5 mL/min으로 설정하여 분석하였다. 가구 제조 사업장의 포름알데히드 최고 농도는 0.31 ppm으로, 미국 ACGIH의 천장값 농도 기준인 0.3 ppm을 초과하였다. 재단, 조립, 샌딩 등의 공정에서도 포름알데히드 농도는 공장 외부의 농도보다 7-21 배 높은 수준이었다. 무늬목 부착 공정에서 목재로부터 발생하는 포름알데히드는 사업장 실제 적용 온도인 $100-150^{\circ}C$에서 1.14-2.70 ppm으로, 국내 노출기준인 0.5 ppm에 비해 2-5 배 이상 높아, 습식 무늬목을 취급하는 사업장 및 공정 근로자는 포름알데히드에 노출될 가능성이 높은 노출 위험군임을 확인하였다.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relations between wooden toy and development of infant and young children by taking only the commercialized wooden furniture which would be suitable for the developmental area for infant and young children, among the physical environment influencing the balanced development and development for them. The recommended standard for them was the commercialized good and the only advanced toys for the development of infant and young children was primary selected, in case of different furniture for same purpose with regardless of manufacturer, country of origin and price. The selected wooden toys for development of infant and young children covered the following test conditions. They keep the soft and clean surfaces and the corners are the round-finished so safe. The dyeing and coloring are so clear like the rainbow-colored in compliance with the international safety norm, and the paint material used are harmless to the people, because they have already passed the European Safety Norm EN 71 which is the most authoritative and strict standard in the world and contained accordingly little heavy metals, toxic substances and also allergy pigment under the maximum permissible standard. The size of wooden toys are not small enough for infant and young children to be able to swallow and this is important check point, because infants tend to feel the object in their own touching and therefore to have everything to the lip. The paint used was the toys-oriented goods and proved by the test regarding saliva and sweat.

This study attempted to identify the characteristics of chair design from furniture company, $K{\ddot{a}}llemo$, the furniture manufacturer in Sweden manufacturing mostly the limited edition of art furniture on the basis of the unique management philosophy. There are 12 artists manufactured chairs for $K{\ddot{a}}llemo$. Of them, this study selected 4 artists-Sigurdur Gustafsson, John Kandell, Komplot Design, Mats Theselius-who designed at least more than three chairs. Total 25 chairs were analyzed; 6 from Sigurdur Gustafsson, 8 from John Kandell, 3 from Komplot Design and 8 from Mats Theselius. The chair structure was divided into three parts, seat, back and structure and analyzed by material, color, type of legs and finishing. The following results were derived from the study. First, $K{\ddot{a}}llemo$ secured the regular customers who want to possess the chairs as the artistic works by continuing the small quantity mass-production system insisting that the maximum quantity of production is 360 pieces and the minimum quantity is 33 pieces. Second, the sufficient time and cost were invested in the initial phase of design. This approach seems to be deviated from the traditional business system that has to create the revenue at a glance, but ultimately induces the commercial success by exponentially increasing the revenue through the creation of various product lines. Third, $K{\ddot{a}}llemo$ provides the space that the artists who work for $K{\ddot{a}}llemo$ can sufficiently enjoy the mental composure and luxury required for the designers by strictly selecting the artists and providing the best environment for enabling the creative activities that look like the pure art area. This study enables the further analysis and research on other collections of $K{\ddot{a}}llemo$ that mass-produces the chairs on the basis of the unique philosophy in the world as well as in Sweden using more various kinds of analysis frameworks.

Bed for elderly and disabled, including the United States developed the industry Americas, and European countries, mainly in the production of products has dominated the world market. On the other hand, improvement of living standards of our country and to the advancement of residential culture of the demand for luxury products is increasing. The study of elderly Edition mattresses have been developed mainly in Europe to maximize the use of sleep can increase the efficiency of products has been studied. Due to the increase in elderly population Elderly Hospital, which is installed in the elderly silver town Edition requires the dissemination of the mattress in the bedroom several times a day resting and sleeping, eating, etc. Designing a variety of actions are needed. Edition of the elderly in Korea developed the design of bed with bed design and the manufacturer and the Institute for Ergonomics, welfare agencies and to build organic cooperation system under the direction of a professional designer to develop and you need to configure the space and the results of such actions by the distribution of cheap materials, ergonomic mattress for optimal development of behavior analysis to the need to promote the convenience of the user.
