Blast-Furnace Slag, a by-product of the iron or steel industry, has potential sa a cementitious material. The addition of a Blast-Furnace Slag generally reduces the heat of hydration and can confer significant improvements in resistance to sulfate attack and alkali-aggregate reaction, as well as increases in ultimate strength. But it also reduces early-age strength. In this study, for the purpose of improvement of early-age quality of Blast-Furnace Slag concrete, we choose blaine fineness of $6, 000~8, 000cm^2/g$ of Blast-Furnace Slag, and investigate the various properties of concrete. As a result, workability and early-age strength of Blast-Furnace Slag concrete were improved according to the increase of blaine fineness of Blast-Furnace Slag.

In general, magnetite or barite (density: more than 4.0ton/㎥) has been used in concrete for radiation shielding, and radiation tests have been performed to evaluate shielding performance. However, researchers have not studied concrete for radiation shielding that utilizes electric arc furnace oxidizing slag. This research aims to utilize electric arc furnace oxidizing slag which depends on reclamation as environment-friendly concrete materials by using coarse and fine aggregates of electric arc furnace slag containing 30% ferrous metal and with a density of around 3.0~3.8 ton/㎥. Accordingly, this research has judged that the high density electric arc furnace oxidizing slag aggregate can be applied to radiation shielding concrete. It has also examined the possibility of developing radiation shielding concrete utilizing electric arc furnace oxidizing slag aggregate by comparing concrete utilizing all fine and coarse aggregate of electric arc furnace oxidizing slag with concrete using magnetite.
Electric arc furnace and converter slag are produced by about 6 millions tons in Korea at 2000 year. But compared with blast furnace slag, those are utilized only in unvalued material like landfill and road construction. There are unstable materials, like free CaO, in electric arc furnace and converter slag at steel-manufacturing process. This might cause volume expansion in concrete, if electric arc furnace and converter slag aggregates were used in concrete. This expansion may reach to crack or collapse of concrete. It is therefore settled by standard specification for concrete that electric arc furnace and converter slag aggregates have not to use in concrete. First of all, volume stability and stabilized process should be solved in electric arc furnace and converter slag aggregate to use in concrete. In this study, 6 types of aging are evaluated for effects of stabilization to reduce the expansion of electric arc furnace and converter slag. h converter slag aggregate, these types of aging are not good for volume stability for concrete aggregate, and even if converter slag aggregate is treated with aging, concrete with it has some problems that strength is reduced with curing days. But in electric arc furnace slag aggregate treated with hotwater and steam aging, the expansion of electric arc furnace slag aggregate is reduced about two times than that of converter slag aggregate, and electric arc furnace slag aggregate concrete has good results in strength compared with control concrete using crushed stone.

Blast Furnace slag a pigiron waste that is produced more than 800 thousand tons per year, and micronized double quenching blast furnace slag improves flexibility of concrete, and even shows improvement effect of long-term intensity. However, the concrete that used micronized double quenching blast furnace slag is restricted in its use because of many problems to assure early intensity. Even micronized blast furnace slag can assure its early intensity of concrete when maximizing, and is considered that can be applied in high strength of blast furnace slag as an alternation material for Silica-fume that depends on overall import. Hereby this paper is revised activity index and fluidity of mortar that used Nano Slag that is produced by rotten Nano crush equipment to propose its size, and possible utility of Nano Slag that was produced by blast furnace slag made in Korea as an alternation material, with the conclusion as following. 1. To measure micronized Nano slag, it is judged that it should be in progress with BET method that is based on micronized Silica-fume for concrete. 2. As a result, the test based on KS L ISO 679 is shown to satisfy the basic additive size of KS F 2563 and of KS F 2567, and to determine new combination of stipulations. 3. The strength development of Nano Slag was shown excellent in the daily initial installment of 1, 3, 7 days against the basic additive. This is judged that contains CaO controlling initial strength against Silica-fume, and contributes to higher fineness than the basic blast furnace slag 1 type.

As a part of efforts for conformity of demand to high quality of concrete and for solution of economic problem, blast-furnace slag has been utilized by means of cement replacement. With utilization of blast-furnace slag, superior performance can be ensured, environmental pollution can be prevented and economical advantage can be obtained. But blast-furnace slag has a lot of disadvantages like retardation of strength manifestation etc. in field construction, so properties examination of concrete using blast-furnace slag instead of cement is necessary. For upper necessity, it is planed that basic data for utilization and performance management of blast-furnace slag by means of cement replacement is presented with experimental comparison and investigation of engineering properties of concrete according to the replacement ratio and fineness of blast-furnace slag.

Furnace slag powder used currently in Korea needs to add special functions in response to the increase of large-scale projects. In addition, it is advantageous in that it has a lower hydration heat emission rate than ordinary Portland cement and improves properties such as the inhibition of alkali aggregate reaction, watertightness, salt proofness, seawater resistance and chemical resistance. However, furnace slag powder is not self -hardening, and requires activators such as alkali for hydration. Accordingly, if recycled fine aggregate, from which calcium hydroxide is generated, and furnace slag, which requires alkali stimulation, are used together they play mutually complementary roles, so we expect to use the mixture as a resource-recycling construction material. Thus the present study purposed to examine the properties and characteristics of furnace slag powder and recycled aggregate, to manufacture recycled fine aggregate concrete using furnace slag and analyze its performance based on the results of an experiment, to provide materials on concrete using furnace slag as a cement additive and recycled fine aggregate as a substitute of aggregate, and ultimately to provide basic materials on the manufacturing of resource-recycled construction materials using binder and fine aggregate as recycled resources.

Electric arc furnace oxidizing slag from massively produced steel slag has been used in road bases and subbases, hot mix asphalt, and landfill. Electric arc furnace oxidizing slag contains iron (15%~30%) and has a high density of 3.0~3.7 ton/m3. Depending on the type and amount of concrete aggregates, the radiation-shielding characteristics can vary. Therefore, aggregates of electric arc furnace oxidizing slag can be considered for the production of radiation-shielding concrete. The experimental design of this study is experiments on Compressive strength experiments, X-ray irradiation experiments, and experiments related to the unit volume weight were carried out on hardened concrete. This experiment compared the performance evaluation of radiation shielding of concrete using electric arc furnace oxidizing slag.

Replacing a large amount of ground granulated blast furnace slag is limited because early age strength is low due to latent hydraulic property despite excellence of long-term strength. This study aimed to examine produceableness of high-activated ground granulated blast furnace slag using slag by-product from steel process. As experimental variable, the properties of strength development were analyzed by setting fineness and replacement ratio of slag by-product, curing conditions, and W/B. The results of study showed that high-activated ground granulated blast furnace slag using slag by-product as an activator improve the compressive strength of mortar. It is expected to be used as binder for secondary product of concrete considering curing and mixing conditions because high-activated ground granulated blast furnace slag can be hydrated by itself.
The effect of the mixing ratio of compounds in a slag-OPC-Gypsum system on the physical properties of Slag cement is investigated in this study. $Na_2SO_4$ was used as an alkali activator. Blast furnace slag cement was prepared from a mixture of blast furnace slag, ordinary Portland cement and anhydride gypsum. The fluidity and the compressive strength according to the ratio of each mixture were analyzed in statistical analyses in order to discover the parameters influencing the fluidity and compressive strength. The results showed that the hydration of blast furnace slag took place with the addition of $Na_2SO_4$ and that column-crystalline ettringite was created as the main hydration product of the blast furnace slag. In addition, it was found that the compressive strength of blast furnace slag cement tends to increase when the ordinary Portland cement content is higher up to three days. However, it is known that the compressive strength tends to increase as the blast furnace slag content becomes higher with increases in the level of OPC after 28 days. As a result of this analysis, it is believed that the ordinary Portland cement content influences the initial compressive strength of blast furnace slag cement, and that in later days this is highly influenced by the slag content.

With increasing content of granulated blase furnace slag in cement, the content of capillary pores in the mortar decreases and later age strength of the concrete. Therefore, this provides greater reserves study is carried out to estimate frost resistance of high-strength concrete specimens with water cement ratios using blast-furnace slag. 1. Blast furnace concrete is comparatively more good frost resistance than normal concrete. 2. As the blast furnace slag increases, the quantity of pores with a radius of more than 30nanometer decreses.
