  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a workwear design framework that can be applied in workwear design. A general explorationstudy was conducted onworkwear concepts and market research to understand the importance and growth potential of workwear. Subsequently, representative brands specializing in workwear are selected, and a case analysis of workwear is conducted with a focus on jackets, pants, and overall items. As a result, four key characteristics of workwear are derived: Ergonomic Pattern-making, Certified Fabric, Specialized Color, and Customized Details. To present a model that considers the functional, expressive, and aesthetic aspects of workwear simultaneously, the 'Function Express Aesthetic' (FEA) model is utilized as the foundation. The 12 derived elements in the newly developed framework combine these four characteristics with three aspects (functional, expressive, and aesthetic), allowing for comprehensive consideration and validation of workwear conditions. The new framework will be used in subsequent research for developing workwear prototypes and is expected to enhanceworkwear production by employing a systematic approach during the design ideation and evaluation stages. By effectively integrating functional aspects with expressive-aesthetic values centered on the functionality of workwear products, this framework will provide.

  • This study investigates the recognition and preference of functional textile material about outdoor clothing widely used in the current fashion market. The study targeted 216 males and females in their 20s to 50s who wear outdoor clothing as casual wear. To analyze data, frequency analysis, cross tabulation analysis and ANOVA were conducted with the SPSS 21.0 statistical package. The results are as follows. First, recognition of functional textile material of outdoor clothing showed that 20s was the lowest preference and all age groups preferred lightweight textile material. In information recognition of functional outdoor clothing, 40s showed the highest recognition, while 20s showed the lowest recognition. Second, 40s and 50s preferred functional material to 20s and 30s. In particular, 40s and 50s preferred clothing items with water vapor permeability & water repellent material to 20s and 30s. All age groups preferred insulation material jumpers, water vapor permeability & water repellent material jumpers and stretch pants. Third, reasons for purchasing functional material clothing was: design for the age group 20s and 30s versus health and function for the age group 40s and 50s. It is necessary to develop functional clothing products based on exact consumer information and preferences.

First, what domestic snowboard wear consumers consider design difference and brand recognition a significant priority in choosing snowboard wear versus the functionality or safety of clothes. Second, concerning the evaluation of the developed product, they recognize the necessity of safety gear; however, they demand the convenient use of a safety gear with a fixation that can be attached and detached. A unity-type board wear was developed that enables an attachment and detachment that reflects the evaluation results. In conclusion, this research showed various market possibility of board wear into sports casual wear to be able to make it a fashion product through different design and demand of mixing it with general wear rather than functionality or activity, though board wear is a professional sports wear.

  • This study evaluated the effect of functional characteristics of the fabric for Bikram yoga clothing and fit measured in clothing pressure on the wearer's physiological response and perceptive sensation before and after exercise in hot conditions and during a resting period in standard conditions. The test garment consisted of two tops (T1, T2) and two pants (P1, P2) each with different functional characteristics of fabric. Using various combinations of the test garments, assessment of the thermal sensation and comfort was performed before/after yoga and after resting. This study revealed that thermal sensation and wearing comfort significantly changed based on the functionality of the fabric of top garment before the exercise period. In addition, the results showed that based on clothing pressure, the feeling of comfort was different between before yoga and after resting. The appropriate choice of fabric material was important when constructing Bikram yoga clothing worn in hot conditions; however, level of clothing pressure was also found to be an essential design factor for comfort during rest after exercise.

  • This study investigates the current state of companies that manufacture and sell outdoor wear. A survey was conducted to identify what problems they had and what aspects they needed to supplement through a comparison and analysis of their block patterns. Companies that manufactured outdoor wear and those that sold them were separately surveyed to understand their current state. The manufactures included 4 companies and 14 sellers. The survey used interviews to cover the areas of target consumers, development patterns, production lines, body size, nominal size, production size, and functional materials for each item, and aspects that need improvement. The survey period was from September $3^{rd}$ to $10^{th}$ 2008. There were three block patterns for jackets, T-shirts, and pants. The investigator collected the patterns used by three outdoor clothing manu-facturers for comparison and assessment. As a result, the mean age of the target consumers set by the outdoor clothing manufacturers and sellers was 25.3-50.7 and 29.2-42.5, respectively, which shows that the outdoor clothing had a wider distribution of target consumers than the sellers. It is imperative for them to segment and differentiate the target consumers and concepts. The basic body measurements the companies used to draw the upper and lower garment patterns were the bust circumference for the upper garment patterns and the waist circumference for the lower garment patterns. The basic nominal size was 95 for the upper garment and 70 for the lower garment. Also analyzed were the block patterns according to the items to understand the pattern characteristics of each of the companies. There were a total of 35, 36, and 30 items for the jackets, T-shirts, and pants, respectively, to measure size. The items were then compared with one another in mean and standard deviation. The analysis indicate that the block patterns were not fit for women in their twenties or thirties to wear and required revisions in the length of the upper garment, the height of sleeve cap, bust circumference, hip length, and pant length.

The most popular bottom underwear for girls was underpants and leggings. The most popular top underwear was half-sleeved round neck t-shirts and running shirts. Third, a survey about uniform functionality showed that most students used and 'arm pit sweat absorbing pad', 'Waist size adjusting function, and 'inside pockets with zippers'. Satisfaction with functional uniforms was low: less than 3.5 in all questions. Fourth, students were favorable to develop functional uniforms to keep warm in the winter. The bottom needs to be warmer than the top and it is necessary to keep legs warm, especially the thighs and calves.
