The purpose of this study is to examine the changes and the using condition of functional cosmetics through articles of newspaper and the survey on functional cosmetics. The data analysis examined newspaper articles that demonstrate a grasp of the general trends of cosmetics, and these articles were chosen from the "Cosmetics Newspapers" and the "Jangeop Newspaper" with content primarily emphasizing articles about cosmetics. All articles on functional cosmetics were collected for the period from 2000 to 2005, and excluding repeated articles a total of 703 cases were examined. In addition, a survey was performed to examine how much women are using functional cosmetics and what the current state of their use is. This survey was conducted from October $1{\sim}20$, 2004, and respondents consisted of 350 adult females living in the areas of Daejeon, North and South Chungcheong Provinces and Daegu. Responses from a total of 302 individuals were included in the data analysis. The results of this study show a situation where the current use of functional cosmetics is gradually increasing, and because of external changes in the skin resulting from the development of modern society, functional cosmetics are being used by women as a means of increasing their opportunities for personal expression due to their skin improvement effects as well as increased confidence and a sense of satisfaction.

There is rising interest in green energy, energy efficient equipment, and products as countries show increased interest in 'Low Carbon and Green Growth'. The cellphone has become one of the essential influences on modem people beyond the meaning itself by the release and the commercialization of the Smartphone. Thus, it considers that the introduction of fashion for cellphones and digital devices to be always on should be a quite natural design attempt for humans to wear clothes at all times. In addition, outdoor activities increase as the population enjoys more sports and leisure time that requires the development of specialized outwear such as the development of a functional jacket. This specialized field is associated with higher value-added businesses. This study made a prototype of a functional jacket equipped with solar cells that established a system of a fashion design that is harmonious with green growth as a plan to measure of fashion design for green growth. The objects of this study are as follow: First, the study seeks a design method for green growth. Second, it makes a prototype to present the improved design method. Third, it presents the establishment of a design system that considers green growth and the concrete measures practical for the system. It established the design system and made the prototype of functional jacket equipped with solar cells, LED, and digital devices as a measure of design for green growth based on the improvement plan of the design that the problems had been supplemented for. Previous studies were mainly about prototypes that attempted to equip mobile digital devices as a study of smart wear; however, this study leaves the issue of power supply for a follow-up study that is different from preceding studies.
This study investigated the technological development of Korean functional product design for posture correction. We analyzed registered and disclosed Korean patents (n=289) of KIPRIS. They were posture correction technology patents filed from 1999 to 2018. Keywords used in patent selection were posture correction, posture correction clothing, posture correction band, rehabilitation clothing, joint protection, protective equipment, and compression wear. These were then analyzed by patent application year, product type, effect pursued, and posture correction body part. The results showed that patent applications related to posture correction technology have increased since 2014. Products subject to patents for posture correction technology were device/brace (59.5%), footwear (22.5%), and clothing (18.0%). Patents for posture correction pursued various wearing effects. The effects pursued were dependent on the product type. The device/brace focused on joint protection (76.7%) and muscle reinforcement (40.7%). Footwear was focused on joint protection (90.8%). The clothes were focused on muscle reinforcement (50.0%) and body shaping (36.5%). The clothing and device/brace for posture correction were worn on various body parts of the upper limbs to feet. The posture correction product design patent was to correct various body parts. Patents pursuing upper body correction focused on spine posture correction (n=99). Patents for foot posture correction have steadily increased (n=102). Patents for posture correction of the pelvis and hip joints were relatively few (n=46). The results of this study implied the necessity to develop technology to correct posture by combining the functions of device/brace and clothing.
With considerable development of comfortable and functional clothing in recent years, we need to evaluate the effects of garment pressure in daily wear on each parts of human body because the garment pressure is important to design the clothing. This study was designed to examine the effects of body postures on garment pressure on each parts of human body in the actual clothing conditions. All the data were collected from 50 volunteered subjects. The Garment pressure was measured in lune and December with 8 points CPMS clothing pressure system from scapular, upper am, elbow, under arm, front waist line, side waist line, abdomen, crista ilica, upper hip, middle hip, front thigh, back thigh, front knee and back knee. The postures of subjects were controlled with 3 positions such as standing (posture 1), sitting on the chair (posture 2), and sitting on the floor (posture 3) during measurement of clothing pressure. Clothing weights were more in men than in woman. It showed that clothing weights had no effects on the garment pressure. In this study, however, just the garment pressures on scapular and top of the hip increased significantly by clothing weight (p<. 05). Clothing horizontally pressed on scapular and top of hip but not on other parts. When subjects stood up, the garment pressure was the highest on the side waist. Especially, clothing pressure on the front waist point was lower than that of the left side waist. On the upper parts of the human body, the garment pressure of left side waist was the highest, and followed by front waist, crista ilica, and abdomen in order. When subjects were sitting on the chair, the garment pressure on the lower parts of the human body was the highest on the top of hip. When the subjects were sitting on the chair or on the floor, the surface area on their skin of hip and waist parts increased by postures. In addition, it showed that men felt more comfortable than women on higher clothing pressure level.
With the trend of wearing mountaineering wear as casual apparel as well as a continuous increase of mountaineers, mountaineering wear market has rapidly grown. New techniques to improve mountaineering apparel have been developed. Construction Without Sewing(CWS) is one of them. It is a sewing technique to improve performance and functions of new functional mountaineering apparel. CWS employs a welding machine with an adhesive tape and press instead of sewing so that it makes the apparel lighter and have better wearability, durability, and windproof and waterproof function, than sewed apparel. This study focuses on the concept, nature, and applications of the mountaineering wear manufactured by CWS. It also made an analysis of manufacturing process, and proposed three designs for the mountaineering wear created by CWS. With introducing the merits of CWS, the costumers will be have better understanding of CWS and break their stereotype that functional clothing is simply expensive without considering its benefits.
This study is basic material for development of a smart girdle. Through the intentionally sampling of 313 consumers from teenagers to the forties who have experienced wearing girdles, lifestyles on consumer's age, attitude to health, favor of warm functional girdle, and possibility to acceptance were surveyed and analyzed by questionnaire. The result of the study are summarized as followed. 1. Analysis about lifestyle with warmth and attitude to health showed that subjects in their thirties and forties have higher than teenagers and the twenties in frequency of distribution. This means people are tend to have more attention to warmth and health as they grow older. 2. In result about analysis of characteristic of wearing girdle, subjects were prefer girdle made of cotton which have superior permeability and hygroscopic property. The reason that wearing girdle is to complement of weak points of body somatotype in the thirties and forties and feel the stability during menstrual period in the twenties and teenagers. The time zone of putting on girdle is mainly winter while one is out wearing one-piece or skirt. 3. When surveyed about the preference to functional warmth girdle and possibility to acceptance, the results were that the subjects in their thirties were first, forty something was second, followed by subjects in their twenties, teenagers. It was shown that over 60% subjects were highly distributed. With regard to necessity of functional warmth girdle, every age groups were shown over 3.6 at average. This result was inferred that subjects had positive possibility to acceptance about functional warmth smart girdle.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate thermal properties of lab gowns developed from the point of safety and work efficiency. We evaluated thermal and subjective responses of subjects wearing functional new lab gowns (Type B, C, D) and a popular lab gown on the market (Type A). Type B was a new lab gown made of woven fabric with functional cuffs. Type C was a new apron made of woven fabric with arm protectors. Type D was a new lab gown made of non-woven material with functional cuffs and openings around the armpits. Temperature in the climatic chamber was set at 19$^{\circ}$C as an indoor temperature in winter and at 24$^{\circ}$C in summer. There were no significant differences in rectal temperature and heart rate among four types of gowns and between two air temperatures for 120 min. Mean skin temperature was much higher in the type A and B than in He type C and D (p .05). In the 19$^{\circ}$C air, clothing microclimate temperature on the back was the highest in the type B and was the lowest in the type C (p .05). Clothing microclimate humidity was not significant differences among gowns. In subjective .esponses, subjects perceived that Type B was the warmest gown in the 19$^{\circ}$C and the hottest and more humid in the 24$^{\circ}$C than other gowns. Inversely, type C was the coolest gown among four gowns. Both in the 19$^{\circ}$C and in the 24$^{\circ}$C, the Type D had gained most responses of being comfortable. In conclusion, the temperature difference of 5$^{\circ}$C was more of an influencing factor than the difference from four types of lab gowns. Secondly, we recommend the manufacturers to make lab gowns with functional cuffs for safety purposes. Thirdly, the spread of the type of apron with arm protector will contribute to increase of the frequency of wearing in summer. Fourthly, it is necessary to study continuously about lab gowns with non-woven materials for researchers exposed to toxic chemical and biological materials.

The importance of smart clothing as a product is increasingly emphasized as further growth in the potential of the smart market is expected. There is a high understanding and sympathy for the potential of smart clothing in the mass consumer market; therefore, commercialization is not actively carried out. This study enhances the understanding of the development direction of products with a focus on technical benefits, in order for smart clothing to gain access to customers as wearable devices. This study identifies major technologies used in smart clothing through an analysis of the patent technology status of smart clothing in Korea. Smart clothing is divided into three types: passive smart, active smart and advanced smart clothing based on a reaction mechanism and functional scope. We present the smart clothing and discuss the product features for three types. According to research, smart clothing products were equipped with passive, active, and advanced smart systems as well as provided new services by converging big data and AI technologies, rather than only using technologies such as sensors, controls, and actuators. Future directions for new smart clothing product development is also discussed in the conclusion.

This study presented functional designs for development of functional compression wear for men in their forties based on body muscles as well as designed 2D patterns using 3D standard body form data of men in their forties. Patterns with an optimal stretch rate were proposed through a comfort evaluation. Different material was used for different areas such as the sports ability strengthening areas including body parts that often move for sports (such as the shoulders, abdomen and lower arm), areas that require ventilation for perspiration (such as the chest and back center, and armpits), and stable form areas (such as the chest, waist and elbows). The front and back surface areas of the developed pattern was an average 102.4% size compared to the body surface area. The results indicated that the 90% reduction pattern showed changes in pressure value according to area of movement, had the best breathability when worn, and had the best, most comfortable fit compared to the other subjects. The clothing pressure values of the pattern were around 22.1-23.4mmHg for the arm area (which has a big movement range and has many muscles) and 10.4-11.8mmHg for chest and abdomen areas related to major organs and breathing, indicating appropriate clothing pressure. A compression wear top pattern with pressure appropriate to the target age range and excellent appropriateness for the body form will be developed for men in their forties. A study method will be proposed to develop design technology for ergonomic compression wear tops with excellent fit and comfort.

The Purpose of this study is to offer basic data for Whitening Cosmetics by investigating the Purchasing condition and Satisfaction in the Use of Whitening Cosmetics. The questionnaire was administered to 350 women in the Daejeon, Chungnam-do, Chungbuk-do and Daegu areas. The date was analysed by percentage, $X^2-test$ and frequency. The result of the survey can be summarized as follows: the importance of the development of functional cosmetics has increased, and among these it is possible to reaffirm the importance of whitening cosmetics. Furthermore, it can be seen that functional cosmetics are being used as a means of increasing opportunities for personal expression as a result of improved confidence and satisfaction.
