The purpose of this study was to categorize dietary lifestyles and analyze intake behavior regarding beverages according to lifestyles of 276 university students in Yeungnam region. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, reliability analysis, one-way analysis of variance, and ${\chi}^2$ tests were conducted using SPSS V.21.0. In the factor analysis, dietary lifestyles were categorized into one of five factors: health-seeking type, popularity-seeking type, safety-seeking type, economy-seeking type and convenience-seeking type. According to cluster analysis, respondents were divided into four groups: convenience-seeking group, wellbeing-seeking group, popularity-seeking group, and indifference group. Chi-square tests showed that there were significant differences in gender, grade, dwelling status, and monthly allowance according to the four dietary lifestyle groups. The level of dietary habits and percentage of correct answers related to beverages of the wellbeing-seeking group were highest among the four groups. The frequency of beverage intake was significantly different for carbonated drinks, milk and dairy products, and sport drinks according to dietary lifestyle groups. In addition, for beverage preference, there were significant differences in carbonated drinks, sport drinks, tea and functional drinks according to dietary lifestyle groups.
This study examines individual determinants of hospital days in community-dwelling elders by estimating a linear structural equation model based upon Andersen's behavioral model. Data were collected through a national survey of elders in Korea in 1994. The subjects for this secondary data analysis were 1687 non-institutionalized elders aged 60 years or older. Except for the effect of age and gender on family help. the predisposing components had direct effects on the enabling components. Of the effects of the enabling components. family help had a direct effect on self-evaluated health; economic status had a direct effect on chronic disease and self-evaluated health; and access had a direct effect on chronic disease. functional health status and self-evaluated health. Of the enabling components. residence and family help directly affected hospital days. Self-evaluated health revealed the greatest direct effect on hospital days followed by functional health. Overall. the effects of the predisposing components and the enabling components on hospital days were not prominent. Since the model explained only $4\%$ of the variance in hospital days. the magnitude of the effect of the need components cannot be judged in terms of equity of distribution of health services. In particular. the effect of family help in the model reveals the importance of family support in health management of elders. The implications of these analyses for improving the proposed model of hospital days were discussed.
Purpose: This study was designed to test structural equation modeling of the quality of life of stroke survivors in order to provide guidelines for development of interventions and strategies to improve their quality of life. Methods: The participants in the study were patients who visited the neurology outpatient department of a tertiary hospital in Seoul between June 25 and October 15, 2009. Data collection was carried out through one-on-one interviews. Demographic factors, functional independence, social support, nutritional status, post-stroke biobehavioral changes and quality of life were investigated. Results: The final analysis included 215 patients. Fitness of the hypothetical model was appropriate (${\chi}^2$=111.5, p=.000, GFI=.926, AGFI=.880, RMSA=.068, NFI=.911, CFI=.953). Functional dependency, social support and post-stroke biobehavioral changes were found to be significant explaining variance in quality of life. Post-stroke biobehavioral changes had the strongest direct influence on quality of life. Nutritional status had an indirect effect on the quality of life. Conclusion: To improve the quality of life of stroke survivors, comprehensive interventions are necessary to manage post-stroke biobehavioral changes, and strengthening social support networks that can contribute to enhancing the quality of life of stroke survivors.
Improvement in functional gait is one of treatment goals in treatment of cerebral palsy children. This study intended to examine the effects of insoles for postural correction on gait in spastic cerebral palsy patients by investigating changes in gait temporal spatial parameters. As the subjects, 15 spastic bilateral cerebral palsy patients participated in this study. Temporal spatial parameters of gait were measured using GAITRite system under three gait conditions. Bare foot gait, gait in shoes, and gait in insoles for postural correction were conducted. In order to look at differences in temporal spatial parameters according to three gait conditions, repeated one way analysis of variance was conducted. As post hoc test, Bonferroni was conducted. A significant level was set at ${\alpha}=.05$. According to the result of this study, gait velocity, cadence, step length, stride length of the left lower extremity significantly changed. When the subjects put on customized insoles for postural correction, the effect was greatest. There were no significant changes in stance time, single support time, double support time, swing % of gait, and stance % of cycle. Therefore, gait with insoles for postural correction positively influenced functional gait improvement and will be able to be usefully employed for spastic cerebral palsy children as one of gait assistance devices.
Purpose: This study investigated lifestyle, depression, marital intimacy, and quality of life (QoL) in breast cancer survivors, with the goal of identifying the impacts of these factors on QoL. Methods: A sample of 146 breast cancer survivors was surveyed in this cross-sectional study. Data were collected from March 20 to May 30, 2019, using self-report structured questionnaires at a hospital located in Jeonju, Korea. Data were analyzed using the independent t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical regression analysis. Participants agreed to complete a face-to-face interview, including administration of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 21-Depression Scale, Marital Intimacy Scale, and Functional Assessment Cancer Therapy-Breast Cancer tool. Results: QoL was positively correlated with lifestyle (r=.49, p<.001) and marital intimacy (r=.45, p<.001) and negatively correlated with depression (r=-.72, p<.001). Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that depression (β=-0.63, p<.001), marital intimacy (β=0.19, p=.001), and lifestyle (β=0.13, p=.031) had significant effects on the QoL of breast cancer survivors, accounting for 63.3% of variance in related QoL. Conclusion: This study provides insights into how breast cancer survivors' QoL was influenced by depression, marital intimacy, and lifestyle. To improve the QoL of breast cancer survivors, healthcare providers should consider developing strategies to decrease depression, to increase marital intimacy, and to improve lifestyle.
The first purpose was to identify the plantar pressure distributions (peak pressure, pressure integral time, and contact area) during level walking, and stair ascent and descent in asymptomatic flexible flatfoot (AFF). The second purpose was to investigate whether peak pressure data during level walking could be used to predict peak pressure during stair walking by identifying correlations between the peak pressures of level walking and stair walking. Twenty young adult subjects (8 males and 12 females, age $21.0{\pm}1.7$ years) with AFF were recruited. A distance greater than 10 mm in a navicular drop test was defined as flexible flatfoot. Each subject performed at least 10 steps during level walking, and stair ascent and descent. The plantar pressure distribution was measured in nine foot regions using a pressure measurement system. A two-way repeated analysis of variance was conducted to examine the differences in the three dependent variables with two within-subject factors (activity type and foot region). Linear regression analysis was conducted to predict peak pressure during stair walking using the peak pressure in the metatarsal regions during level walking. Significant interaction effects were observed between activity type and foot region for peak pressure (F=9.508, p<.001), pressure time integral (F=5.912, p=.003), and contact area (F=15.510, p<.001). The regression equations predicting peak pressure during stair walking accounted for variance in the range of 25.7% and 65.8%. The findings indicate that plantar pressures in AFF were influenced by both activity type and foot region. Furthermore the findings suggest that peak pressure data during level walking could be used to predict the peak pressure data during stair walking. These data collected for AFF can be useful for evaluating gait patterns and for predicting pressure data of flexible flatfoot subjects who have difficulty performing activities such as stair walking. Further studies should investigate plantar pressure distribution during various functional activities in symptomatic flexible flatfoot, and consider other predictors for regression analysis.
The purpose of this study was to develop a large representative data base for jeans marketing strategy. This study was to survey brand awareness and analyze brand image and consumer's seeking image. The 700 questionnaires were distributed and 656 reliable ones were used for statistical analysis. A SAS statistical package including frequency table, factor analysis, analysis of variance, Duncan's multiple range test, Peason's correlation test was used. The results are as follows: 1. Brand awareness involves "brand recall" based on asking a person to name recalled first, and "brand recognition" based on asking to identify brand name from 30 given brands. The result indicated that "Levi" was dominant for brand recall and Guess was dominant for brand recognition. 2. Regarding the brand image, the result showed that "Vov" was best represented for sophisticated 8t trendy brand images, "Storm" for sophisticated brand image, "Jambangee" for reasonable price & comfortable brand images, and "Levis" for classic & design/color brand images. 3. As a result of factor analysis on consumer's seeking image, six factors(characteristic/gay, intelligent/sexy, feminine/sophisticated, active/functional, cute/young, simple/comfortable) were found. Several factors had a relationship with demographic variables, preferred design, fashion interest.
Financial analysis of stock data usually involves extensive computation of large amount of time series data sets. To handle the large size of the data sets and complexity of the analyses, database management systems have been increasingly adaopted for efficient management of stock data. Specially, relational database management system is employed more widely due to its simplistic data management approach. However, the normalized two-dimensional tables and the structured query language of the relational system turn out to be less effective than expected in accommodating time series stock data as well as the various computational operations. This paper explores a new data management approach to stock data management on the basis of an object-oriented database management system (ODBMS), and proposes a data model supporting times series data storage and incorporating a set of financial analysis functions. In terms of functional stock data analysis, it specially focuses on a primitive set of operations such as variance of stock data. In accomplishing this, we first point out the problems of a relational approach to the management of stock data and show the strength of the ODBMS. We secondly propose an object model delineating the structural relationships among objects used in the stock data management and behavioral operations involved in the financial analysis. A prototype system is developed using a commercial ODBMS.
Dynamic motion difference between normal subjects and low-back pain (LBP) patients has been investigated in terms of kinematic variables such as range of motion, velocity and acceleration of the back and hip. Ten healthy subjects and ten LBP patients were recruited in this study. Electro-goniometer such as Lumbar Motion Monitor and Hip Monitor have been used for quantitative measurement of the trunk motion during repetitive flexion and extension for ten seconds. Results indicated that the velocity and acceleration of the back and hip were important parameters to quantitatively identify LBP patients. The consistency of cyclic trunk motion and the relationship between the back and hip were measured in terms of Variance Ratio and Phase Angle in order to accurately assess the motion characteristics of LBP patients. In particular, the hip motion has been proven to be a very important factor in describing the kinematics of damaged lower back. The functional evaluation technique suggested in this study will be a tool to assist physicians for an accurate diagnosis and timely rehabilitation along with current image diagnosis techniques.

In this paper, we explore nonlinear sufficient dimension reduction (SDR) methods, with a primary focus on establishing a foundational framework that integrates various nonlinear SDR methods. We illustrate the generalized sliced inverse regression (GSIR) and the generalized sliced average variance estimation (GSAVE) which are fitted by the framework. Further, we delve into nonlinear extensions of inverse moments through the kernel trick, specifically examining the kernel sliced inverse regression (KSIR) and kernel canonical correlation analysis (KCCA), and explore their relationships within the established framework. We also briefly explain the nonlinear SDR for functional data. In addition, we present practical aspects such as algorithmic implementations. This paper concludes with remarks on the dimensionality problem of the target function class.
